Dining
Portman Restaurant - Extensive breakfast buffet includes traditional English breakfasts, pancakes, pastries and fruit, cheeses, Scandinavian breads, and smoked salmon. Lunch and dinner menus offer modern British fusion cuisine. Sample dishes include Sautéed Scallops with Plantain, Crispy King Crab Lasagna (chef's signature dish) and Caramel Panna Cotta. Wood-and-marble floors and coffee-colored leather banquettes characterize the bright modern dining space. Large moveable planters break up the room and potted grasses add greenery to tables. In summer, the terrace is opened for dining.
Portman Café - The large marble fireplace with its antique clock is the main focal point of the lobby, where guests sink into leather Chesterfield armchairs and enjoy afternoon tea, a light snack, or specialty coffees. Heavy drapes frame the floor-to-ceiling windows; potted palms and antique mirrors add elegant, old-world touches. Open all day.
Lobby bar - Adjacent to the lobby, the hotel bar is open all day until late, serving drinks and coffees. Eye-catching modern paintings adorn the deep-burgundy walls; chocolate-colored leather chairs create a warm ambience. Live piano music Monday-Friday evenings.

“Propre, Bien placé, confortable.”
Upgradé à l'arrivé. Déco des chambre incertaine. Très confortable. Personnel excellent.
“Verh happy with choice”
I travelled to London for a 4-day business trip, centered in Mayfair. This hotel was very close by, but was way cheaper than Mayfair hotels of comparable quality. Plus, it's close to Hyde Park (for that jet lag-beating jog) and Paddington (for the Heathrow express). My room was compact but comfortable. Two major pluses: broadband wireless that actually worked (doesn't always happen in London) and a shower head with good flow & pressure (never happens in London).
“Best hotel location”
The hotel was very nice.very close to basically every thing you need.it is 5 minute walking to oxford street.there are lots of resturants around you within walking distance.the hotel was very safe.they have a very organized safty measures. transportation were very easy.cap, taxi,or even bicycle ride.going to the airport was very easy .the hotel workers called the so called (dot 2 dot) services.the bus picked me up from the hotel to the airport for only 22 pounds only.
“Great Location/Clean/Friendly”
For a family of 5, this hotel was in a great location with easy access to the tube, buses, and oxford street. Clean and friendly - extensive morning buffet as well. Sometimes the front desk was very busy, but when it was finally your turn, the staff was very attentive. We will stay here again!
“Very comfortable and convenient”
My 2 sons and I, aged 11 & 14, spent 8 days in London and I was a little apprehensive about booking a hotel in London that would be comfortable for my kids, because i know european hotels standards are not the same as here in the states, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was beautiful and has a wonderful breakfast buffet(not included in the room fees). The staff was very helpful and the bathroom had a shower head and bath, which is not always the case. Another really great advantage, is that we were 5 minutes walk from the subway and Oxford St., so it made getting around very easy.
“Good business hotel”
The Portman is a very comfortable "American style" hotel and quite decent for business travel. Rooms are relatively small in keeping with European standards, but are very nice and comfortable with inroom wireless internet access. Easy walking distance to the underground as well as many business addresses in Mayfair area and plenty of shopping and sightseeing. Overall good service and very nice hotel at mid-range price.
“Comfortable hotel in a convenient location”
We were very pleased with the quality and comfort of this hotel. The room and bathroom were spacious and attractive. There was plenty of storage space for clothes. Amenities included hairdryer, iron, ironing board, hot water pot for coffee and tea, internet connection, and large desk. Although there was some traffic noise, we did not hear guests in other rooms. Maid service was excellent.
“A perfect stay”
I stayed a week. Room service was impeccable. Cleanliness was impeccable. The bed, wich was queen size, is probably the best hotel bed I have slept in. The wireless internet connection was fast and always worked. When I arrived, a door knob was faulty and a lightbulb was out. I informed the desk and the matters were fixed pronto. The restaurant was good, it would in my books receive 3 stars out of a possible five. I ate there several times, Contemporary British Cuisine, which in my view is simply good and perhaps innovative home cooking elegantly served. The bar food was not good. I recommend this hotel strongly.
“Excellent”
Only stayed very briefly, but was upgraded upon arrival, had an excellent breakfast through room service, room was clean and comfortable and the location was perfect. Recommended.
