Property Amenities
The hotel is situated in a Victorian townhouse, with a narrow façade. Visitors are greeted by the smell of fresh coffee, an open fire and large, brown-leather armchairs. Almost the entire ground floor is dedicated to the comfort and relaxation of the guests, with the reception tucked away to one side so that day-to-day hotel business doesn't intrude. The Executive Lounge has the ambiance of a private club, with high-backed leather chairs and alcoves. Sherlock's Grill offers intimate dining, while the bar provides a vibrant alternative. Open fires create warmth throughout.Despite the name, this is not a themed hotel. References to the great detective are tasteful and subtle: the brass bust behind the bar, a scientific jar in one of the hallways. The concierge desk can provide assistance with tours and tickets. The fitness center has sauna and steam room, cardio and resistance machines, and free weights. “Can't wait to go back”
The staff at the hotel were great. Very helpful with directions, taxi reservations and the odd request. The room was very comfortable with great pillows however if you travel before true summer and the need for ac you might be a little stuff. The room only has heat and ac the the ac won't turn on till "summer".
“Great Location”
Nice hotel, friendly staff room was clean and comfortable. This hotel is located within walking distance (a mile or so) of Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and the prior estate of the Duke of Wellington, which is now a museum and houses quite a collection of paintings that first Duke came to own carrying out successful campaigns against Napoleon (Waterloo) and his brother
“Très bon hôtel et très bien situé dans Londres. On y retournera”
Super à tout point de vue. Sauf, un petit détail, les réceptionnistes pourraient faire l'effort pour les touristes de parler une autre langue que l'anglais. Il s'agit quand même d'un hôtel 4 étoiles.
“Very Helpful”
The workers were extremely helpful in everything we asked them to do.
“Very impressed”
Great Location 5 mins walk to nearest Tube Station (Baker Street). 10 mins stroll to Oxford street. The Hotel Bar and Lounge are beautifully decorated and is an Oasis to come back to after a hectic day in the hustle and bustle of Central London. The staff are helpful and very friendly. All in all a great Hotel, one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in London. Great value for money.
“Nice Place to Stay”
The regular rooms are very small. The superiour rooms are very nice. A smoking lobby - good for some, bad for others.
“Fantastic Experience”
My wife and I came to London from Canada for our honeymoon and we spent our last night at this quaint, boutique hotel. We had booked this hotel upon our return from a brief visit to Paris, and were immediately impressed by the service and the style of the hotel. The lobby/bar/lounge area was warm and inviting, the low lighting, the antique curios adorning the shelves, and the authentic wood fixtures around the "first impression" all added to the relaxing atmosphere we were looking for. Our room was cool and comfortable in the early August heat, and the king-sized bed provided a terrific night's sleep. For the most part, it was wonderfully decorated and laid out, the only contradiction to that being the proximity and style of the bathroom. The bathroom door was rather close to the side of the bed, and although the massive, frosted glass was striking, especially the way it slid open on old-style, counter-weighted warehouse door fixtures, the relative lack of privacy required us to creatively schedule our usage of the facilities. I'm putting it delicately, but hopefully you can discern my meaning here. Regardless of the minor inconvenience (we simply adopted the "When in Rome" attitude toward the bathroom, which was far less off-putting than our entire time in Paris), my wife and I will definitely seek out this hotel the next time we're here. As an avid reader of Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories, its location and theme were added thrills for me. We highly recommend this hotel.
“Like a Tardis”
When we arrived at the Hotel we thought it looked very small from the outside. Reception area was difficault to find at first as you have to walk through the lobby bar which was not easy squeezing past people sitting at the tables with our suitcases. We immeadiatley felt 'in the way'. After check in which was fast and the staff were very friendly we noticed how big the Hotel was inside like a tardis. The Hotel was very comfortable for our needs as we only used it for sleeping and breakfast. Breakfast was very basic but satifying.
“Large room, great location”
We stayed in an Executive room that was quite spacious. Bath was handicapped equipped, which may account for size of room. Had to ask for executive tray that was to be included, but items could be replenished as requested (water, wine, fruit, shortbread, cocoa, cappucino. We were not told to insert room key into slot by door to keep air conditioning activated. Walked almost everywhere-great location.
“Little bit of luxury”
It may be expensive however this hotel is a little gem hidden away on Baker St. Very comfortable rooms, nice and quiet location yet never too far away from hustle and bustle of London. I was there on Leisure and was in walking distance of MT, Hyde Park and Regents Park.
