“Great hotel for families, very near the London Eye”
Stayed here with my wife and kids, ages 4 and 8, for 5 nights while visiting London and doing some site-seeing. The welcome received was great and they were especially accommodating to our kids, who received welcome packages with games, etc. The kids slept quite comfortably on the pull-out sofa for the duration of our stay. The room had both a tub and shower. We booked breakfast (GBP10 per adult and free for the kids) at the hotel each evening for the next morning and found that to be good value for a decent hot buffet, although after three days, the lack of variety was starting to get to us as they serve the exact same options on the buffet each day. Luckily, the last two days of our stay were the beginning of a school week off in London and the hotel sets up a nice breakfast with entertainment for the kids and a few fresh options on the buffet tables, which was a nice change. The hotel is only a short walk to Westminster Bridge, County Hall, the Eye, and Waterloo Station. Ask for directions to the front of Waterloo Station, though, since the part of the station that you can actually see from the front entrance of the hotel is actually the backside of the station and a little tough to navigate if you do not where you are going. We learned this the hard way by just assuming that we (well, I) knew where I was going.
“Great Hotel!”
Gorgeous Hotel, would recommend this to anyone. I was told to stay in this area by a friend because it was close to Big Ben and the London Eye...... However, I initially was looking into staying at Mayfair. close to the shopping and Pica Dilly. Next time I stay in London I would definitely stay closer to those areas. Of course your going to want to see all the main attractions but I am only seeing them once so actually staying by them to me doesn't make sense. It's like going to Paris and staying at by the Eiffel Tower. That is my advice to anyone looking at location. Overall the hotel was really nice though. Cab is aroun 10 - 14 pounds to Oxford Street or Pica Dily.
“Recommended”
Excellent hotel. One issue is we had to ask for our room temperature to be raised... when we first entered our room, it was very hot, had to call down to reception to have the air conditioning adjusted and it took some time for the room to cool. Other than that, exceptional stay and hotel.
“Great value and location.”
Excellent location and very helpful staff. We upgraded to a studio suite which was a much better size than the standard room, and had a kitchenette in it as well as a separate sitting area. It was a really nice room, but the bed was a bit hard. Otherwise the hotel was perfect for our 3 night stay in London. This hotel would be excellent for a family as there is a fold out couch in the sitting area, plus the kitchenette is useful for breakfast or light meals which reduces the cost of dining in London.
“Disappointing”
My main concern was the coldness of my room. I mentioned it to a maid who showed me how to manipulate the temperature but it did not work. I was compensated for it by not paying for one of the breakfasts. The breakfasts were good and well-staffed. The service in the other restaurant was slow when I had snack one afternoon. Perhaps the fact that it was Easter that the hotel was so busy.
