“Very lovely hotel in a very lovely location!”
Novotel Excel is situated in a very quite and serene area of the Docklands of London. It is minutes away from Canary Wharf, the financial district. The waterfront, the quaint cafes, the old mills and the ultramodern bridges give this hotel's environment a lovely set of somewhat contradictory attributes. You can see children playing, people jogging, lovely skies, planes from the London City airport take off. All in all, not your everyday London hotel experiece! The service levels are very high and the hotel is very well designed!
“Great stay in Docklands”
Excellent service from check in to check out. Enjoyed a few cocktails @ the bar. Loved the buffet breakfast. Could not have asked for more. An easy walk from the ExCel DLR station. No need for a car.
“Highly Reccomended”
We booked this hotel at fairly late notice for an easter visit to London as we could not find a better deal in the city centre. We are glad we did! As our pre-booked family room was not quite ready on arrival we were upgraded to an executive suite which was excellent, and meant the rate we paid became even better value. The breakfast was superb, full english or continental, lots of choice, quality and quantity - the croissants were as good as any we have had in France! The location overlooking the updated docklands with a view down to the O2 (Millenium Dome) is great and peaceful for London. The DLR station is only a couple of minutes walk away which gives easy access to the rest of London (within about 15minutes), from this fairly laid back and relatively quiet area. Low flying aircraft on approach to London City airport provided the only noise but these did not fly at night so were not an issue for us. We didnt eat in the restaurant (other than breakfast) but the food looked to be reasonably priced for a 4* hotel in London We will definately revisit this hotel on future visits to London, especially at the price we paid. Compared to other hotels we looked at when booking, we definately feel that we made the right choice, as we cant really find anything to fault.
“Friendly and helpful staff”
Out of the way on the face of it, but actually accessible. If you want a quiet but efficient stay, this is fine - but it might be bit busier itf there's an event on at Excel.
“Out of the Way”
Very reasonably priced hotel in a not very convenient location. I loved the very modern decor of the room and hotel and the view of the Thames from my room and the hotel restaurant and bar was wonderful; however, the Docklands area is out of the way and the connections to the other Underground lines were difficult.

Excellent hôtel, avec un personnel cosmopolite très avenant et très agréable, à la réception comme au buffet ou au bar. Design contemporain et chaleureux, des espaces vastes bien agencés et un merveilleux vaisseau qui tient lieu de buffet, avec de splendides vues sur la Tamise et les anciens docks. Les repas sont de très bonne qualité. Le seul point à améliorer ne dépend pas de l'hôtel, il s'agit du métro Docklands Light Rail, les 3 derniers jours de notre séjour, la station Custom House for Excel était fermée pour travaux et nous avons pris des bus jusqu'à Canning Town, et le dernier jour il n'y avait plus de liaison entre Canning Town et Tower Gateway et nous avons dû prendre la Jubilee Line. Il y a de belles balades à faire le long de la Tamise, - pont piéton proche de l'hôtel qui mène sur l'autre rive de la Tamise, on peut faire du roller sur le parvis de l'hôtel, face au London Excel, et même aller jusqu'à Londres via des pistes cyclables, un fort potentiel donc.

Excellent value for money! Modern decor. Clean. Short walk from DLR station with easy access to the O2 - we stayed after watching a concert. Staff were very friendly, professional and helpful.

We found this hotel apsolutely fabulous. Very superior hotel in all ways. The staff bent over backwards to help you. Superb breakfast. Excellent location, with Central London only 25 minutes away.
