“Lovely, Quiet And Very British”
Traditional decor with an edge. Comfortable room, very comfortable bed, good quality bed linens, towels and molten brown toiletries. Small but well equipped gym that is far better than most gyms in larger hotels. Overall the hotel offers a club like atmosphere and is quiet. Hallways are dark but don't be put off by this. My room was large and very pleasant. The street is mostly residential but only two blocks from Sloane Square. The tube is close by; as is the bus, and taxis are easy to find.
“No 11”
A very English old style but stylish hotel. I'd go back for sure.
“No tea or coffee”
Wonderful hotel and the staff were more than helpful. Nothing was too much effort. However, there was no tea or coffee facilities in the room and £16.00 for a pot of coffee or tea was somewhat steep in my view! Enjoyable experience but wouldn't stop there again.
“Wonderful concierge”
David - the concierge could not have been more helpful!
“It isn't the charming hotel it used to be...”
After a few years of not booking at No.11, I decided to try it under new ownership. I was told the single rooms would be no more with emphasis being given to space. I booked a deluxe double room but I thought I was back in a single room. I had to shove the small table into the chair in the corner to find enough space to open my suitcase. My carry-on bag was placed on the luggage rack, and there was just enough space left to squeeze between it and the foot of the bed. When I checked out and commented on thevlack of space in my 'single' room, I was assured it was a double and had adequate space for 2 persons and luggage - not a chance! Until just a few years ago, this was the most charming and inviting small hotels in London. Efficient and friendly staff (many have since left),afternoon tea & cakes in the drawing room with sherry and hors d'oevres at 6 in front of the fire-but no more. When sold, the new owner redecorated to suite their new clientele (they obviously liked it as it was), those representing Italian fashion houses. Hence the switch to a dark grey, black, red and gold theme in the entry and a couple a rooms designed with parties in mind and the rest of the hotel remaining English country in decor and feel. Comfy carpets taken up to expose not beautiful flooring and allowing one to hear one's neighbor walk around in their room. I was told there is some re-decorating to be done, but it was unclear what direction it would take.
“Claustrophobia”
A rather eccentric and charming hotel with an interesting bar and a world class ham and cheese sandwich ruined by a room a parakeet would find confining. So small the door from thr claustrophobic mini hall way to the tiny bedroom couldn't actually open as the bed was in the way. A call to the front desk to inquire if this was a typical room was met with clucks of sympathy but no explanation nor action. By the next day I was clucking as well, cooped up as if in one of those dreadful industrial chicken coops. Too bad, it could have been something.
