“Brilliant!”
This hotel was fantastic. I was a little hesitant about staying here as there are many mixed reviews but I decided to go with it. I was nervous about which room we would get because I knew some were facing the neighbouring building and some were run down. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a newly renovated room facing out over the road and a park nearby. This room was extremely clean which is the most important thing for me. Second most important is service, which was the best I could have imagined. The bathroom was spotless and modern. Great water pressure! Bathroom could have done with basic shampoo instead of just soap but I knew they did not provide these thanks to other people's reviews so I came prepared. Breakfast was full english and done well. We were late but she still cooked it for us which we really appreciated. When we were packing up to check out the man at the counter let us leave our bags with him for the day and also didn't charge us for checking out 20 minutes late. This place really impressed me as my first time in London, also England. And I was pleasantly surprised and comfortable during my stay here. If I were to return to London this is where I would stay. The location is a 5 min walk from St Pancras terminal which is incredibly handy also the location isn't too much of a busy area so it is ideal if you don't want to be right in the middle of the madness of London. Easy access to main attractions through the underground. Room 9 by the way.
“Great location, but not a great hotel.”
I've stayed at this hotel twice - the second time was an error, as after the first visit I would never have chosen to stay here again. The room I stayed in this time was adequate. However, carpet was grubby to say the least, and my sleep was disturbed by noise outside the badly fitting windows until around 2am. (Second floor). On my previous visit, I stayed in the basement room, which had a separate bathroom which was very poorly presented. Nightmare. If you get this room, see if you can have another !
“Dirty Sheets, No Hot Water”
My boyfriend and I checked in to the Leigh House Hotel around 11pm on the 21st of November 2011. Upon arriving we were given room 10. When we got to the room I inspected the sheets as I do with every hotel I stay in. I was upset to find that the bed had been made, but the sheets were filthy. There were two different types of human hair on the pillows and "another type" of hair located midway down the bed. I immediately went downstairs and informed the clerk. He was apologetic and escorted my boyfriend and I to room 7. While he was still in the room I inspected these sheets as well. As soon as I turned down the duvet I found more human hair and when I turned the pillow over there were make-up smudges. The clerk once again apologized and asked us what we wanted to do. I told him I would stay in room 10, but that I would like a clean set of sheets. I changed the bed myself that night. I later went to a corner market and purchased spray disinfectant for the bathroom. It looked clean, but so did the bed until I inspected it thoroughly. My bad experience doesn't end there. When we woke up on the morning of the 23rd and were preparing to check out I was horrified to find that there was no hot water. The shower was ice cold. I couldn't stand the water temperature long enough to wash my hair, and my boyfriend couldn't shower at all. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. It wasn't clean and lacked basic comforts such as hot water. It was an overall bad experience.
