“More than adequate”

I was in London for a medical appointment and stayed for three days. I stayed on the Kensington Rooms Hotel based on the rating this hotel received from customers on the Internet. For the most part, the reviews seemed quite sound. The room I was in -- one of the few singles -- was incredibly small and had the smallest TV I have seen in a Lonon hotel. Nevertheless, it had an in suite bathroom and shower (also very tiny), was well maintained and not too noisy. I found the hotel to be very convenient in terms of airport access (on the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow -- 1 hr trip) and access via the underground to the rest of London. It was in walking distance of the Natural History and Science Museums. Also, an added plus was the close proximity of two large grocery stores. There are plenty of cafes to choose from in the neighborhood and the hotel offerred a wide variety (and free) of newspapers in the lobby. There was no Internet access in the rooms and I do not think I would recommend this hotel for serious business travelers. On the whole, it was a fine -- if not spectacular -- lodging and very good for the price. The hotel made a good base for operations, but is not the type of hotel one would want to linger in. Leisure activities are all out the front door. I also do not believe that this hotel would be that good for families with small children -- notwithstanding the reasonably close access to the museums.

“convenient but expect small”

I went the cheapest route and chose a single room ( just single bed) and the entire room was no bigger then 1.5m X 2.5m. It had 1 bed, 1 side table with a 15in TV and a small cabinet. My room opened up to the inside of the building so you cannot see the street, just windows from another room from the opposite side. The bathroom was decent but the shower cabinet is pretty small ( I bang my elbows against the doors several times). The room's wireless will cost you $$ but wireless is available at the hotel lobby area. If you can deal with small, the hotel's location is unbeatable. It is 5 min walk from Gloucester Rd station connecting to the district, circle and picadilly lines; it pretty much gets you to every location possible. The hotel offers breakfast for $$ but there are tons of breakfast joints including Pauls and Starbucks close by. Price wise, it is about what you expect in London but considered how ridiculously small the room was, I feel it is over price. I suggest going for the slightly bigger room (the double bed room) at about 10Pounds extra.. Will be well worth it.

“Quick Stay”

We went to London for one week and when we entered our hotel we were greeted with blank stares. I took a few days for the staff to get friendly but by the time we left they were really nice. The rooms are very tiny, as well as the bathroom. But we were hardly ever in the hotel room unless we were sleeping so it didn't bother us to much.

“A comfortable place to stay”

We knew from previous guests' reviews that the room would be small. It was small but very comfortable. We found it a good location - fairly close to the tube and in a nice neighborhood. We are walkers so the fact that we were a distance from major attractions did not bother us. We would choose to stay there again.

“Would stay there again...”

Perfect location for us, very close to the Gloucester Tube station and far enough away from the tourist spots that it was not too crowded. Short walk to the Kensington Palace/Gardens. We had a triple, and it was roomy enough and very comfortable for what we needed, a place to sleep. The hotel itself was pretty quiet, had a nice, quiet lounge/bar and free wifi in the lobby/bar area. We did have a room that was by the street, so if you are a light sleeper...I would make sure to request a different room. We are heavy sleepers/used to noise, so it did not bother us in the least. We just needed a place to sleep and shower, so for us this place was perfect, priced very reasonably and in a very convenient location (all the tourist areas were easily reached by tube). We will stay there again.

“basic off cromwell”

this was a last-minute trip on a tight budget so i was not expecting to be spoiled. still, it had been a while since i'd been in a hotel where noone offered to take my luggage to my room after i registered. it's one of those old-fashioned london buildings with meandering hallways and plenty of half-floors. when i finally got to my room and opened the door it was so small that i burst out laughing. it was really a bed with some space around it. and when i went to take a shower i found that there was hardly enough room for me to turn around to reach for the soap...however, everything was sparklingly clean and i left with no evidence of bedbugs...only caveat: there is no in-room internet connection and the one in the 'lounge' needs resetting every half-an-hour; most annoying when one is trying to work online. as a result, i spent more time in the public spaces than in my room.

“Great location, you get what you pay for.”

Not a bad experience at all. Negatives: Front desk staff had no idea that housekeeping left bottled water, the first nights, and when we requested more we were told to drink from the tap. No breakfast included. The bathroom could have used a good cleaning, (i.e. there was shaving grit on the marble) and the linens were questionable (one robe smelled strongly like men's cologne, and the sheets had unidentifiable stuff on them, I suspect either from the dryer or a previous occupant.) However, the bed was comfortable, and the location was unbeatable for the price. I would stay again.

“friendly staff and excellent location make this hotel a great homebase in London”

Kensington Rooms Hotel is located in the heart of Kensington, one of London's loveliest neighborhoods. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Gloucester Road underground station with direct service to Heathrow airport and the rest of the city. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms are tastefully decorated with modern furnishings, comfortable beds, and en suite facilities. The hotel is also equipped with Wi-Fi. I stayed at Kensington Rooms two separate times during my three weeks of traveling. The first room 402 was a small, cozy, single with full bathtub. The second room, 202, was a generously sized double with a king size bed and shower stall. Both rooms faced Cromwell Road, I could hear the traffic but it wasn't unpleasantly loud, nor did it keep me awake at night. If you're a light sleeper be proactive and ask for a room that doesn't face the street upon check in. I'd stay at this hotel again without hesitation.
