We were bumped by the Grange Blooms hotel into their less attractive but nearby sister hotel, the Grange Whitehall. Great location, but a very average hotel, falling apart a bit.

We got the hotel to book in at 2.15pm, the E-Mail confirmed that the book in time was 2.00pm. We were told by the receptionist that it was 3.00pm book in, I showed her the E-Mail and was told the room was not ready and if I wanted to complain then to contact head office. Totally unsympathetic and offered no apology at all. The Duty Manager Fruzsina then stepped in and was the polar opposite, helpful, apologetic and offered us a free breakfast. The hotel was lovely, it was a shame that the receptionist gave such an unfriendly and unforgiven welcome to the guests.

This is an ideal location and very quiet. Room 310 overlooked a quiet courtyard and the back of the British museum. It’s an old London building, so don’t expect the most modern amenities - but the trade off is well worth it. I’d recommend it highly.

Poor Quality of Room
Having been moved at last minute from the Grange Bloom to the Grange White Hall with no reason, we were put into a room that can only be described as the staffs overnight quarters. Having booked a nice looking kings size double room at the Grange Bloom, we found ourselves in a small rom with a drop bed bed that was 1ft off of the floor, uncomfortable as poor quality.

Redirected to Grange WhiteHall (next door) - as has been normal this year. Convenient location on a quieter street (although there is some bus traffic) and good price for the size of the room in this area. Welcoming and friendly service with a basic grab-and-go breakfast still being delivered to the room.

The Inn was a lovely visit. The stairs to our room, The Manor are steep so not advisable to anyone over 50 . The room was lovely. We were a little disappointed with the jacuzzi. It’s is a bathtub with jet sprays. Definitely not a two person tub that we were hoping for. The staff is good although the Asian girls had trouble understanding English. The gardener was very nice and considerate to guests walking by and such. The food is outstanding. The best my husband and I have enjoyed. The breakfast and dinner was amazing. The food is worth the visit alone.

Transferred to Whitehall Grange next door same company. Helpful friendly staff. All Covid measures in place. Grab and go complimentary breakfast due to change of hotel. Great value for location. Only thing I found needs improving is my kettle did not switch off when at boiling point. Difficulty in adjusting water temperature for bath and shower. Window needs some repairs rotten frames and when trying to open and get fresh air had broken bolt so needed assistance. Bed comfortable

Very dirty rooms, the carpet smelled of urine and the bed was so u comfortable that it was impossible to sleep. Also on expedia it shows the rooms as air-conditioned however only 2 rooms are airconditioned on the ground floor and they had a weird pull down bed which was horrible to sleep on. They showed us other rooms which all smelled horrible and were boiling hot even though outside temperature was cool but something in the rooms made them very hot so we opted for thr dirty uncomfortable air conditioned room but after one night it was so unpleasant that we decided to book and go to another hotel. Had originally booked for 3 nights but left after the first only, also expedia assured me a refund and Have recorded chat from the expedia agent that after checking out the second day they will issue me a full credit card refund for the unused nights, but once I checked out and asked expedia to proceed with the refund, they refused to do so, highly uproffessional on part of expedia to first assure me of a refund then back out. But whatever, they can keep my money if it makes them richer , seriouly though this is an unliveable dirty 1 star hotel with broken rooms, dirty carpets, dirty mattresses , mouldy smells everywhere ...good luck staying open for long after all the bad reviews they are getting here. And very bad attitude on part of expedia as well to refuse a refund after first promising it initially and I have full recorded proof of that.

Hotel is close to the British museum and walkable to other attractions. Many places to eat around and staff were very helpful. The room is a bit outdated but we didn’t mind since we spend most of our time out sightseeing.

There are several linked townhouse hotels and the picture on the site is the one down the street, not the one I stayed in. The room I was in was quaint and doesn’t have a lot of the typical hotel amenities you might expect. But overall it was a good experience.

Excellent position with many dining options within a short walk, but still retaining a quiet, classic refined streetscape. There are better breakfast options available than the expensive associated nextdoor property which provides breakfast for the hotel, for example try the cafe in Russell Square Gardens. Short walk to Tube, buses outside the door, and hotel backs on to British Museum.

Really quaint hotel on a quiet block close to the british museum and the tube. The bed was comfortable and the room had many teas to choose from which was a nice touch! I would definitely come back for a well priced, well maintained, centrally located hotel in London!

The room was sold as a executive suite with a king bed . We then realized the “king bed” was two full size mattresses pushed together. The mattresses were uneven with the edges , right in the middle of our sleeping space.. definitely uncomfortable . Other than that , the room itself had the basic amenities but cleanliness could’ve been improved also .

The property is dated and could do with modernising. It’s over priced , considering ours was a ‘ superior’ with king size bed the room you couldn’t swing a cat wouldn’t like to see a standard room .

Excellent small hotel just off Russell Square
I was booked into this hotel by my employer for work for two nights and booked an additional night myself so I could visit some attractions. The hotel exceeded my expectations on a number of levels: 1. Location it's just off Russell Square, five minutes walk to the Underground, leafy streets all around and plenty of shops and restaurants a stone's throw away. It backs onto the British Museum which was handy. It seemed very safe to walk around the locality (subject to the usual precautions) and I enjoyed having a stroll both during the day and after my evening meal. It was very quiet at night. There is a bus stop right outside where I think the night bus stops also. 2. Amenities and cleanliness: Everything you need is provided from toiletries to tea to papers. There is a nice bar and a garden which I imagine would be much used during fine weather. This hotel is part of a group of small hotels with sister establishments having restaurants and leisure facilities. The communal areas and my room were clean and tidy. 3. Staff: Reception and housekeeping staff were friendly and everything seemed to run smoothly. 4. Price: good value for money. I usually stay at a more well-known hotel chain and pay twice the price. Only one negative comment: My room was quite dark even with the lights on this probably isn't an issue during the summer and could be resolved by having a couple of table lamps. I will definitely use this hotel on future trips to London.

From the initial booking Grange blooms customer service was exceptional.Ella Bigot was extremely helpful and prompt with her reply to my queries. Check in was great, room ready two hours early and we were also treated to a cake for my partners birthday. We didn't stay for breakfast as it seemed expensive at £47 for two full English when you can pay 5,95 down the road. Room was clean and comfortable, great visit

Great Hotel Patchy Wi-fi
London is always an expensive place to stay, and I chose this hotel for two reasons - it's in Bloomsbury, which is my favourite part of London, and it's one of the cheaper hotels available. The hotel exceeded my expectations - it is a townhouse next to the British Museum, and the room is gorgeous. The hotel is easily accessible from Russell Square Station (since it is on one corner of Russell Square itself), and walking distance from Kings' Cross (if you have heavy luggage remember that Russell Square Tube Station requires you to lug those luggage up (and down) some stairs whereas Kings' Cross is fully accessible). It is also within walking distance of Holborn. The only quibbles (and they are quibbles!) are that the free wifi can be very slow and patchy, and that you need to lug your luggage up some stairs to get into the hotel lobby. Not deal-killers and I really don't have an issue with the stairs, but someone with heavy luggage or who needs a wheel-chair or pram etc may want to take note of that.

Fine for what it was
The room was quite small, but had everything it needed. It was unfortunate that the key card machine had broken, meaning access to the rooms were by the concierge, but wasn't a big deal. The tea/coffee facilities were fine, bed was comfy but the biggest draw back was the noise. The walls are paper thin, so any doors being shut reverberate through the hotel, which isn't great when guests are leaving very early in the morning, or getting in very late at night. Take ear-plugs. The WiFi wasn't particularly strong and dropped out. Overall OK, but would not have been impressed had we paid the advertised price.

One night London trip
The hotel had very nice rooms and staff. They had fresh fruit in the rooms which was nice and they also held our bags the next day for us while we walked around. Very close to 2 separate tube stations which made it very easy to get around. The only problem I had was that there was no wash cloths in the room, but I am unsure if they would have brought us some because we did not phone room service and ask.

Great room
The hotel is close to the Great Bratish Mesuem, the room was very neat, and it is totally worthy for the price.

great location
The location is walking distance to museum and restaurants. The hotel is an old building and rooms are very small but I planned to stay at this hotel for the charm and I was satisfied. If you are looking for a big comfortable room or if you are a tall and big person avoid this hotel since the bathroom is very small for a large person.

Very helpful staff. Clean and pleasant room. Overhead fan didn't work but a desk fan was provided quickly.

Quaint hotel in lovely neighborhood
I love Bloomsbury and it was complimented by a wonderful stay at The Grange. Accessible location, the staff were welcoming, cozy room, and great views around the hotel. Next door to the British museum and Russell Square. Convenient locations to multiple tube stations depending on your preference of the day. I did not get a chance to explore bar& restaurant but I am certain it was a nice addition to the property. Only disadvantage is the wifi charges.

Great boutique hotel
Great neighborhood location, away from busy street traffic yet only two blocks from Russell Square "Tube" station and around the corner from the British Museum. The room was comfortable and large by European standards. A converted townhouse, the hotel is small and non-institutional. The bathroom was very modern. The bed was queen-sized, essential for someone tall like me. My only complaints were two: sound carries between rooms, so I could hear a rather loud neighbor; while the bathroom lighting was bright, it was poorly placed for shaving.

Excellent hotel
The hotel was excellent within comfortable walking distance of Museums, theatres and Covent Garden. We walked from Victoria Station in 50 mins! We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Comfortable good location.
Room was small but well equipped, nice tea tray and good selection. Bed was a bit soft but we had a peaceful nights sleep.
