Beautiful hotel with marble exterior and breathtaking interiors from the turn of the 20th century. Located across from Kensington Gardens and Palace, this hotel has a tube entry just around the corner (Queensway). The rooms are modern but this is where the hotel starts losing points for me. The rooms are TINY. We had the twin club room, which i believe is one of the better rooms and it came with 2 bottles of water, prosecco , 2 apples an orange, and a small box of chocolates. The furniture took up almost every inch of the room and there was only a sliver of a window with a view of the alley. With barely 8 inches to clear the path to the bed from the desk i kept hitting my knees. Television is typical of European hotels, with no option for streaming services. I know there is a restaurant in the hotel but we never found a room service menu, and we kept having to go down to reception to buy water at 1.50 pounds a bottle. No microwave, no coffee maker, but there was a small fridge and a kettle to make instant coffee which i find disgusting. It was impossible to get out of the bathroom without hitting my elbow or getting my sleeve caught in the door knob. The staff are unusually cold and distant, don't expect friendly small talk or holiday advice from these folks, who man the desk. The deal breaker for me was the coffee and the absolute disregard for smoking guests. There is an ashtray outside, but no bench or cover, so i smoked in the rain unhappily.
