“great week at Carlton Kings Cross”
I was promptly checked in by the desk person and given a room in their new annex that was bright and clean with a decent bathroom. The room was made up every day and the staff very helpful anytime I had a question at the front desk. The breakfast and breakfast room were very nice and being able to use WIFI in the room was a plus also. I spent a week total here and would come back again, the close proximity to St Pancras/Kings Cross stations made my touring by tube and train very easy.
“Good Service”
After spending far too long I booked a single room at the Carlton which is very close to Kings Cross Station. When i arrived I was offered an upgrade to a double room in their refurbished rooms a few doors down the street. So I accepted and the room while small did have a double bed. Very small on-suite but ok for the 1 night. The room was very recently upgraded so it was all new and fresh. Tea and coffee facilities were available. Very small TV but adequate for the short time I was there. Breakfast was included and this was limited to a small selection buffet, however it was fresh and hot and a fresh round of toast was given with either tea of coffeee. No options for healthy breakfast which would be a good idea to consider. Also real orange juice would be good. Overall I would recommened this hotel bearing in mind I stayed in a refurbed room.
“brigette”
one step up from a backpackers hotel - good size room, clean, just abit tired - but cant beat the price and location. if on a budget, a good choice!
“Clean, comfortable rooms and great location!”
The Carlton best asset is it's location. Being next to King's Cross, you are well situated to get to most Central London locations with one Tube ride. The full English breakfast is definitely a nice bonus. The rooms may seem a bit smallish to us Americans, but they are clean and comfortable. I've stayed multiple times at the Carlton and haven't had a bad experience yet. Definitely recommended!
“Convenient location”
You can't beat the location of this hotel if you want convenient train, bus, and tube services. It's right across the street from King's Cross / St. Pancras, which is very nice after a long day of travelling. The British Library is a three-minute walk from the hotel. University College London is nearby, as is the British Museum. I walked to and from Drury Lane several times, and took the bus into the City. The downside of being so close to King's Cross is the noise. Some people would probably be bothered by the sound of the trains passing underground. I stayed in a basement room and rather liked the regular hum of the trains. It was actually the sound of heels tapping on the sidewalk outside that woke me up in the morning. I heard no noise from other rooms in the hotel and was pleasantly surprised at the peaceful atmosphere even though the hotel was completely booked. The full English breakfast was rather ho-hum but plentiful and edible. Wireless internet did not work in the basement. And my room felt a bit damp, although was certainly not cold. The room, bedding, and bathroom were all spotlessly clean and modern. For the price and the convenience, the noise was more than tolerable. I'd stay here again.
“Good for the price”
The hotel is not great - a 2 star attraction. But, you get what you pay for, as far as room quality and decor. The key here is that the price is low and being near St. Pancras is sooo convenient. There were quite a few foreign students at the hotel and a few business people. I think this is a great hotel for students or business men staying a day or two that want to only pay a little. It was clean and the staff and breakfast were good. It's in a noisy district and the furnishings are not quality, but if the budget is your main concern, this is the place.
“basic but good location”
needed somewhere in the location that was cheap and cheerful and found this based on reviews. it is very basic but a good location
“Hot and Cold?”
This hotel is well placed but is not in the best shape. I had no hot water in my room's shower (1B) and was awoken at night by the noise of the undeground passing under by.
“ok”
My hotel experience was very good, the lobby services is awesome.
“Bad hotel”
Location is excellent for business traveller but the hotel is beyond any reasonable standard.
