“Great hotel at a fantastic price”
My boyfriend and I stayed 7 nights at Barkston Garden and were very satisfied. From the perfect location (everything you could need within walking distance), the size of the room (huge by European standards), to the efficient helpfulness of the staff... we would ABSOLUTELY stay there again! It is not a "luxurious" hotel, but provided exactly what we wanted AND allowed us to save money to spend on other parts of our vacation.
“Great value, great location!”
This hotel is just steps from the London underground, so you are only minutes away from anywhere you want to go. Within walking distance of Hyde Park and parts of South Kensington. Near the hotel are pubs, a grocery store, a drugstore, and a bookshop selling newspapers and the indispensible A-Z. Barkston Gardens was definitely a hidden gem in the Earl's Court neighborhood, and a fantastic value. Please DO NOT go to England expecting all the luxuries of an American hotel. In case you missed the customs officers, you are not in America. The room is small, but clean. There is virtually no water pressure in the bathroom so you just may have to do without that 45 minute morning rinse. Deal.
“oasis of calm”
I really liked this hotel! after the madness of the city, this was a real chance to have some peace. It may be shabby chic, but it was clean and welcoming. Will definately come back again
“Heat wave hits London”
Like many hotels in London, Barkston Gardens is not air conditioned. If the weather is really hot for London, the room becomes much too warm. Otherwise, it is a lovely hotel that I would definitely return to if I go to London again.
“Barkston Gardens Hotel”
(For the price), the absolute best hotel I have stayed at while in London. I was granted an 8 am check-in (unheard of), the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean....and huge! (by London standards) I would very much recommend this hotel.
“Excellent location- great budget hotel”
Don't expect the Westin, but this was a great hotel for the budget minded traveler. It truly is 200 meters from a tube stop and there were plenty of restaurants and grocery stores near by- for all budgets. The rooms were on the small side, but if you are only there for sleeping and showering, it does the job. Everything was clean and safe when I returned from a day's sightseeing. The bed wasn't the coziest that I have slept on, but for a short visit, it was fine.
“A Keeper”
Barkston Gardens is a very comfortable, centrally located hotel near the Earl's Court Tube stop in London. The area has a real neighbourhood type atmosphere with all the amenities you need nearby. The hotel itself has well appointed rooms most of which have large windows, a separate bathroom and a small water closet. The mattresses were good and a couple of reading chairs completd the room. Coffee/tea are able to be prepared in your room as well as room service being available. this hotel had access to the internet located in the bar which allows one to check emails and flights for free.Staff was pleasant and efficent. Dining room bright and cheery.
“After my fourth visit, still a favourite”
This is a great 3-star hotel in a lively and safe neighbourhood, about a minute from Earl's Court tube (zone 1 for lower travel costs). It's always booked - for the money it is one of London's bargains. Staff try to please, the breakfast is consistent. Double rooms are pleasanter than the singles I've been in, but in London, if what you want is a convenient hotel as a base in which to sleep and from which to travel easily via tube, this one is perfect. Neighbourhood pubs (Courtfield), shops(M and S for wine and snacks) are handy and unpretentious. Walk to Holland Park, and to Kensington Gardens Orangerie for the most elegant cafe setting I've ever seen.
“Nice hotel - make sure you get the garden-side-view!”
The hotel is rated as 3-stars, and I do not have enough experience to assess whether it meets those expectations, but I can tell you it was a very nice hotel, very professional, no real problems at all (though they were repainting the halls - I guess thats what you get for going offseason). The side with the view is real nice, and the street it looks over is not too loud, so you can keep your window open if necessary (I didn't see an AC). It is super close to the Earl's Court station, and there are *many* cheap places to eat around - I recommend the fancier of the two local markets (though rooms seem to lack refrigerators). There are nice common areas near the lobby, including a big TV room, and a bar (where there is a free internet station). I got a very good deal via Expedia which made me very happy with my stay here. If, on my next trip, it is the cheapest three star hotel that Expedia pulls up, I will certainly return to the Barkston Gardens Hotel. Cheers.
“Great location & a good deal”
This is a wonderful hotel in an extremely convenient location, very close to the Tube stop at Earl's Cross. The furniture and decor are older, but it is clean and comfortable, and they offer an extremely good deal through this service as compared to their regular rates.
