“Good value for a London Hotel”
Good position, clean, quiet and the shower worked well. Easy overnight parking in the street.
“Value for money”
There are hundreds of similar hotels in London in this price range...and within each hotel dozens of rooms, not two of which are identical. This can be called "character" or it can mean that things are so idiosyncratic as to drive you crazy. So this is more a review of room 20A than of the entire hotel. (Note: 20A is at the end of a rabbit run on the 3rd floor - hence the number 20 of course - which is the 4th floor by North American designation.) So having established the boundaries, what was the experience? Fine. The mixed staff (Sub-continent and former Soviet Union) got along well and were pleasant to deal with. The tiny room was quiet (the hotel itself is on a quiet street) and clean with a modernized bathroom. The room (for my 5 day stay in November) was overheated of course but the window opened. I can imagine things would be uncomfortable in summer heat. I didn't try the breakfast but overheard 2 Australians complement the front desk on it. I expect to use this hotel again.
“Recommended”
Location is the best, two blocks from the tube (Gloucester Road), one of the best districts to stay in London, the staff is very friendly. My room was a bit noisy because it was located next to de front desk. The shower was not working properly, either the water was too hot or too cold, it was very hard to ajust an adequate temperature. Continental breakfast was fine, just a regular breaksfast with corn flakes, milk, coffee and toasted bread, realy worth for the 2.95 pounds.
“Hôtel très bien situé”
La chambre était vraiment exigüe, l'espace entre le mur et le lit à peine suffisant pour passer. La moquette et la robinetterie ont besoin d'être changées. Mais le lit est confortable, le petit déjeuner minimaliste mais suffisant, le personnel très agréable et l'accès au wifi gratuit dans les chambres fort appréciable.
“Good value, clean hotel, great staff”
We stayed 4 nights at Abcone and were extremely pleased with the room and the excellent staff. They helped us find the right bus, tube stop, taxi, sights, and general information on everything we needed. Although the free WiFi was not working on the lower floor where we were, the receptionist gave us her office network and passcode to use on the ground floor.
“Would recommend”
The room was small, as to be expected. The bathroom was even tighter. But the rooms were clean and the water was hot and fast. The location is really good. Two blocks from the Glouster St. Station which is a great underground line for central london. It was our hub for everywhere we went. Would definately recommend.
“Good bang for the buck!”
The rooms are small but very clean and somewhat modern. Great value if you are just passing through London and need a night's sleep somewhere. The staff was very helpful and allowed an early check-in after an overnight flight from the Congo. Great location - near the tube, park and restaurants etc... good bang for the buck!
“Decent for what it is”
The rooms are clean, and the hotel is in a great location. However, my single room was TINY--the bed and bathroom were quite small. The shower is not for the claustrophobic, and the toilet was in an extremely narrow space. I needed a relatively inexpensive place in a good location for one night, and for that, Hotel Abcone fit the bill. I would not have wanted to spend more than 1-2 nights here, though.
“Great location”
The hotel is in a great location close to the Gloucester tube stop. Easy to get to from Heathrow or Gatwick airport. People at the front desk were friendly and informative. The room size was a little small, but overall a place to stay.
“Good basic accomodation.”
Conveniently located, small but adequate. Have stayed there without any problems on two occasions.
