Magnificent Maria Villa B&B!
They say Lierna is for travelers not tourists how true! From the very beginning we loved B&B in Maria villa! The home itself is a beautiful, stately manor. we were treated extremely well. We loved our room which looks over the lake especially the huge wooden sliding door that lets air in, but keep out bugs and sun sometimes when you don’t want it. The hosts and his family were wonderful. It’s such a reasonable place to stay and it’s like visiting old friends! It’s nice because you just come and go as you please and some time to see the hosts and his daughters or their lovely boxer, Zeus, but it’s not a big deal. The veranda is vast. And there’s a room beside you which is on the same veranda but it doesn’t matter it’s so huge you feel like you’re royalty! Looking over Lake Como every day it’s just magical! The shower I had a huge rain shower head and it was quite comfortable. We like the room because it stayed quiet And cool even during the hot midday sun. The fabulous host gave us great recommendations. One of them was a IL CROTTO-a restaurant, which is just a six or seven minute walk away. It was excellent! We ate there every night for six nights in a row, and it was an experience as far as dining in addition to the exquisite food. Wonderful stay can’t wait to come back!

The property is a lovely old house with a great view of the lake however, the property needed some upkeep (without loosing the character of course) and cleaning in my opinion (spiderwebs in the bedroom isnt really acceptable). The bathroom however was lovely and had clearly just been updated. The location also wasnt great as you have to drive into verenna to get the ferry. There is limited dining around the area and limited ferries from the area (they all return around 6pm which is too early). Whilst the location isnt something the hotel can change if course, i feel its important to mention as the previous reviews make it seem as though its easy to get around without a car. Further, dont be confused by the breakfast part of BnB; there was no breakfast offered.

Room with a View
The view is incredible and is the selling point of the stay. There is a ferry to Bellagio and there are good local places to eat.

We had a great experience staying at Villa Maria. It is such a beautiful property, well mantained, super clean and perfectly located walking distance to the ferry that goes to Bellagio and all the other incredible Villas in the area. The view from the balcony is impressive and peaceful. The Host Marco was very attentive and respectful. He recommended one of the best restaurants we tried in our trip. The property has parking which is very important since Bellagio is so popular that we try to do it with the car first and we could not find a parking spot so we leave but because stay later at Villa Maria we were able to go back to Bellagio and Villa Balbianelo (which by the way it was a Paradise) using the ferry which is literally like 10 mins walk super easy. We can recommend this place to all the people looking for a great experience at Lake Como.

Beautiful guest house
Lovely property in beautiful location. Clean and comfortable. It could be me, but the only thing I did not like was seeing the owner and his family including small children around at all times. I have stayed at other properties of this type where there is boundaries between the guests’ common areas and the owners’

what a sordid comment. She pretends to stay in a private villa where the family that hosts her and allows her to share their spaces, moreover large, stays away from their home. An oxymoron. she probably just wanted a hotel room in a villa all to herself for the price of a simple rent. People like her do without it

Marco was great. We arrived a little late and he was quite accommodating. Our navigation and e-mail wasn't available while we were driving and we got a little lost and came late. He even accommodated our unexpected guest at no extra charge. Great breakfast with many homemade goods. Great view from the balcony but it is shared among the other rooms. Plenty of parking but up a steep curvy driveway and you really need to cut the corners closely. On the main street so it can be a little noisy. Walking distance to restaurants. My only complaint is that the bed was too hard.

Dear Angela, thank you for your opinion. Unfortunatly I have to I have to make some clarifications so as not to mislead other future guests. The terrace of the rooms is not shared, as each space in front of the rooms is for the exclusive use of the room it faces, but it is true that it is not physically separate as it is not allowed by the laws because it is a contemporary monument that cannot be changed and a private home. So when we close the b & b business it becomes our home again with all its usefulness. On the other hand, this seems to me the same spirit that should exist in a bed and breakfast since we share our home with other guests.as for the entrance climb, forgive me but we have never had any guest or supplier with trucks that have defined entry as so absurd. Maybe you didn't feel comfortable driving in general with a car with manual transmission or driving in Italy. Look, I don't think his only complaint is the hard bed, but even this seems more than strange to me, considering that these are memory mats of the latest generation, so they could be too soft for those who aren't used to memory.in any case we thank you but as always we are wrong to accept guests after the check-in time and in the future we will not do it again

Very happy with our stay
Wonderful hosts, beautiful view of the lake and breakfast setting was a fabulous surprise! Some rooms view the lake and other on garden side. Our room was full of old character furniture. The only negative was the early church bells.

Perfect for visiting the area.
Thought I only stayed for one night while visiting family in the local area, Marco and Mira were the perfect hosts. I had a suite over looking the rear garden which was so peaceful and quiet, I think the bed was possibly the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in. The complimentary toiletries were a nice touch too. The property is set back from the main road through Lierna, and accessed by a long sweeping driveway or a set of stone pedestrian steps which wind up through trees and shrubs. The lake is stones throw and the views from the lounge and breakfast room are stunning. Though Lierna is a small village, the property is very convenient and gives easy access to the local bakers, ferry stop, promenade and train station. While this is a family house complete with two small children and a very friendly boxer dog, I was made to feel most welcome by the family. Over breakfast, where nothing was too much trouble, the owner and I chatted about the history of the area and this unique property, which was fascinating. I just wish I could have stayed for more than one night, but now I know I’ve found a little gem, I will definitely be back when soon.

Nice BnB close to the town of Lierna (walking distance). The blacony was great with an amazing view of the lake. Without AC, and in summer, we had to keep our windows open, and being close to the main road, it was a bit noisy for sleeping.

There isn't enough I can say about how truly incredible this B&B was! We got incredibly lucky to book a room same day because of a cancellation. Marco is an excellent host who provided tons of information about the area and recommendations for things to do. The view from the lakeside room was jaw-dropping! The breakfast spread was impressive and delicious! The property was private and gorgeous! If I am ever lucky enough to return to Lake Como, I will absolutely remember this B&B and stay again.

Paradise on Lake Como
Beautiful setting, large garden with great lake views,Huge bedroom and the bathroom was bigger tthan some hotel rooms a large sitting room overlooking the lake, breakfast on the terrace. The villa is a short stroll to the ferry wharf, restaurants and a good laundry. Marco and Mira were perfect hosts and thanks Marco for the dinning and shopping recommendations in Milan they were both great.Exceptional stay, so clean we had 2 nights but could have stayed a week. We will hopefully return

Nice villa with a beautiful view.
We stayed for 5 nights and toured Lake Como by boats (ferries) and accessing more frequest boats from Varenna by nearby train. Our room was spacious with fabulous view of the lake. Marco was great host knowledgeable about local travel attractions. He prepared opulent breakfasts every morning. The main road in Lierna travels just below the villa and was a little noisy especially on weekends when motorcycles come out. Not too bad at night. There are beautiful grounds and plentiful free parking. We hated to leave when our stay was over.

Very friendly and helpful host. Breakfast was a highlight, the food is excellent as is the view. Sitting in a lovely garden, in the sunshine, overlooking Bellagio and Lake Como being served delicious food and planning the day's trips was just an excellent start to the day. Tips- get a room with a balcony. There are more ferries to and from Lierna at the week-ends.

Serene lake oasis
Villa Maria was AMAZING! The hospitality, the beauty, and the breakfast were all top notch. I've stayed in many B&B's and this one is by far my favorite. Only a short walk to the train station and the ferry boat to get around the lake. Perfect to visit the more crowded villages around the lake and come home to serenity.

A peaceful and comfortable place with breath. lake
Villa Maria is in an idyllic location with spectacular views of the lake. Our accommodations were comfortable and the breakfast buffet provided an ample selection of items from which to choose. Marco and Mira, our hosts, were quite helpful and spot on with restaurant recommendations. They also very kindly provided my wife with a floral arrangement of beautiful red roses for our 40th wedding anniversary. The highest recommendation I can give is that we would happily stay at Villa Maria again when we return to Italy. Mira is pregnant with twins and we'd like to say hello to the bambinos and to Zorro, the villas very friendly dog. The only negative I can conjure up is that the entrance is not well marked. We drove by the first time but this is a minor issue.

A great place to stay.
We just got home after a one week stay at Marco and Mira's great B&B. The views are spectacular. They are located only a 10 minute drive from beautiful Varenna with great restaurants and ferries that give you access to all of Lake Como. There is a nice small beach a half a mile away but it is rocky and water shoes are a must. There is no problem parking even if the B&B is full. We stayed in the large room which had more than enough room for the two of us plus our 8 year old son. We had a very nice view of the lake with a large shared balcony off the bedroom and a smaller private balcony off the bathroom. The bathroom is also large and modern. Breakfast, weather permitting, is served in the garden. There is no better way then to start your day enjoying a nice breakfast with the wonderful view. Breakfast was set up before we were up and it included fresh bread, juices, coffee and croissants. They always made sure our son had his favorite every day. Eggs were also available upon request. The beds are made and the rooms cleaned daily. While we were never uncomfortable at night with the windows open, air conditioning would be a plus. There is also some road noise in the morning but it did not wake us. The best asset that this B&B has is Marco and Mira. They are successful in creating a homelike environment where you feel welcome. Marco & Mira provide a wealth of information on restaurants and things to do. We were never disappointed with their suggestions.

Walls of Glass!
We were looking to stay in Ravenna, but didn't plan enough in advance and were priced-out of the affordable options, so we decided to check out Lierna and chose this B&B. We are glad we did. We really liked this family-run operation and friendly owners. We especially loved the glass walls of the common area and the massive shared terrace -- both affording wonderful views. We only stayed one night (just passing thru the lake region, not vacationing there) and enjoyed wandering around quaint Lierna for the evening. We would definitely stay again if we found ourselves passing thru the east side of Lake Como again.

Villa with "Genius Loci"
This B&B was absolutelly super-ouverture for our trip to Lago Como. Such a charming villa with beautifull garden, amazing view to the lake! It has a style. Marco and his wife are carefull and ready for any advise, absolutelly proffesional. We bought from Marco a bottle of wine typical from Valteline for our evening at the terrase and enjoyed the view. The breakfast in the garden was tasty. We love also the dog Zorro. There was a little bit early morning noise from the street down, but this can happen at any other place here. I would recommand this place to anybody, who loves to feel "Genius Loci".

Had a lovely stay at villa Maria ,the house and gardens overlooked the lake ,and we we're fortunate to have some lovely weather so had our breakfast in the garden most days of our five night stay the breakfast was delicious .I think if you are staying here it would be better to have a car ,as we didn't and had to plan are activities around a train journey to Varenna ,to catch the ferrys which took you to the various villages around the lake Marco and Maya were very attentive host ,and made us feel very welcome in their home ,it was nice to be greeted in the morning by the dog Rocco ,thanks for a memorable stay ,

My mother and I were just wrapping up a busy family reunion week-long trip in Italy and spent our last 2 days/nights at Villa Maria B&B in Lierna, on Lake Como. Marco and Mira were lovely gracious hosts, and are very proud and caring owners of this unique Bauhaus-style stately family home, which is perched on the lower mountainside surrounded by shady gardens and breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. We truly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful quiet retreat. It's close enough to the bustling touristy hubs on Como, but does not have that touristy feel. Ample parking is available on the premises and was a key factor in choosing this villa.

Lake front Como Villa
This is not a Hotel....it is a B&B overlooking Lake Como. The house was a real gem, and the owner, Marco was a warm and inviting host. Marco made us feel as if his home were our home. You'll be amazed at the lakefront room. If you book here, a call to the owner, as you're driving into town, will make finding the driveway much easier, as the street that the house is on, is segmented, and his gate will need to be open for you to find it.

Absolutely fantastic stay. We had the suite for the night which had amazing views of the lake. based in a quite location away from the mainstream towns. This place and its hosts really impressed us. They were very professional and personable and their dog Zorro is the star of the show. Will definitely be back, next time for a little longer!!

Very nice Italian villa.
This is one of the best B&B we stayed so far. Marco and his wife are very nice hosts. Breakfast was very good and the room was very clean. From the terrace, while you drink your morning coffee, you can have a magnificent view of the lake. Their garden is a little paradise. We will definitely go back in the spring as Marco suggested and we strongly recommend their villa. Emanuel and Carmen from Canada.

Decompress at Lake Como
The owners were wonderful hosts. The location lovely. A quiet place to access the lake. Very relaxing. Helpful directions to take boat and train.

Beautiful property and wonderful hosts
Marco and Mira were amazing hosts and their property is beautiful. The room opened up onto a terrace that looked out over the lake. The breakfast was fresh and delicious and always ready when we came down. We loved our stay and highly suggest this place.

Difficult to locate the premises
The road sign could be made more obvious and more well lit to allow guests to find the premises. Breakfast was fantastic and very generous.

We apologize if the sign on the road so far has not been effective for a long time but we are trying to create a more visible sign yet but keep our identity private home without encroaching on the territory of hospitality and professional service. Forgive us for such behavior, but our desire is to be a bed and breakfast and not a hotel. Great Location & Great Price.
We really enjoyed our stay with Marcos and Mira at Villa Maria. The room and bathroom were spotless! This beautifully maintained villa was full of antique furniture and decorations which gave the B&B special character different from staying in a hotel. The personal attention and service from the owner Marcos made our stay very comfortable. The breakfast presentation in the downstairs sun room looking out to Lake Come with a view of the snow capped mountains was spectacular.

Great hosts & property
We were looking for a property that offered free and secure parking, complimentary WIFI, and breakfast included. This B&B covered all that and also offered a beautiful view of Lake Como. The hosts, Marco and Mira, and Mira's father, and their dog Zorro are warm and kind, and definitely take pride in their home and business.
