Expedia and the Sandman

Posted 14-Jul-2015
Pros: Hotel Staff. ...!!! They even gave me an upgraded room for all the trouble. Thanks Sandman front desk....!!!!
Cons: Air conditioner was a bit noisy, but then it was +34 outside so it was working overtime.
Location: Located close to where the street performers were doing their thing. Also close to the lake and exhibition park.
I have never used Expedia before. I booked a room at the Lethbridge Sandman for July 10th and it was trouble free. However When I got to the Sandman in Lethbridge after a 5 and a half hour drive, I was informed by the hotel staff that they didn't have a booking for me. When I showed them the itinerary I had from booking with Expedia which showed July 10th they started the grueling task of sorting out what went wrong. Apparently Expedia booked me in for June 10th,,,but later amended that with a written note that it was really supposed to be July tenth. Unfortunately this did not get communicated the the hotel before we got there. Common sense won out and the hotel found us a room. This was a very busy weekend in Lethbridge and I was amazed there was anything available.

Aged hotel, leaking roof

Posted 13-Jul-2015
This Sandman is showing its age and long overdue for a Reno. Leaking roof in the room, dated carpet and bathroom. Not up to the usual Sandman standards

Comfortable Stay

Posted 4-May-2015
Overall, the stay was fine. Housekeeping was a bit lacking (garbage not emptied and bed not made well). But the room was good, good water pressure, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel has a Denny's and a bar/lounge, Bar One (great!). There is also a 7-11 in the plaza attached. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent value; clean and comfortable room

Posted 20-Apr-2015
Pros: Very quiet. Comfortable, cosy bed. Free convenient parking. Nice, tasteful decor.
Cons: The tub's drain appears to be partially clogged as it was easy for water to build up in the tub during a shower.
Location: The hotel is right by 3rd Avenue, which has plenty of amenities and restaurants. There's a Denny's attached, and a convenience store is very close.
After seeing all the mixed reviews (including some rather negative ones), we were concerned about picking this hotel, but the sale price was just too tempting to pass up. But after our stay, we're very happy that we ended up at this hotel. The hotel gave us a corner suite, which was impressively quiet and private. The room was spacious clean, with tasteful decor. And the bed was wonderfully warm and comfortable! If there were areas to improve on, we would say that the tub didn't drain as fast as we liked, and there were spots in the bathroom ceiling and walls that should be re-painted. Otherwise, we're very happy about our stay. We'll definitely consider coming back again.

Old and tired

Posted 16-Mar-2015
Pros: Beds were comfortable
Cons: Everything felt old and well worn.
Location: Nice mall, good food and a Costco
A very nice receptionist welcomed us and was very helpful. The hotel room was reasonable, we had 2 queen beds which were comfortable. The bathroom was old and worn and I could not make the shower work. The bath took 20 minutes to drain. We chose this hotel because we thought it would be comfortable and was not the cheapest, we will not come back.

Windy City

Posted 26-Jan-2015
Pros: Location is good
The wind was blowing and this building is probably 50 years old so the windows were rattling but that's part of the character of Lethbridge I guess.

The Review / Sandman

Posted 22-Jan-2015 on Hotels
Our trip to Lethbridge was for an Dr.app #.. we have stayed many times in the Sandman.. Dennis likes the convenience of the Restaurant and the Lounge.. I myself like these as well, although I would like to include a bit more to the breakfast, even if it means eating a pastry and a coffee while running out the door... It was very windy the evening we got there and the morning.. it howled threw the patio window all /or most of the night. My husband(Dennis) is also an early riser and enjoys reading the newspaper in the lobby while letting me sleep a little longer..
