Stayed only for one night. Hotel is very located right next to the central station in Leiden. If you arrive by car, which I did, there is a car park directly under the hotel. It has a ticketed barrier, so there was no problem parking the car.
My room was quite high on the 10th floor overlooking the station and towards the town. I was not bothered by any trains. It was a very clean room and comfortable bed.
Didn't eat in the hotel restuarants but they looked nice.
This hotel had a lot of families with children staying so for families this would be a good hotel.
With two double beds our room slept four people so allowed us and the kids to stay in the same room together.
Swimming pool and gym were nice and of a good standard.
The hotel BASTION is at the best possible location, on the main highway, but very soundproof.
However, rooms are tiny, but modern and comfortable.
Restaurant is for emergencies only.
Main disadvantage of the BASTION: there is no elevator to go up to second flloor!
We shall return nevertheless, because having a decent parking in Leyde is a bonus; and the main city parking HAAGS, is near.
Hotel is excellently situated and in a very nice area. Easy ten minute walk from Centraal Station. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room basic but clean and absolutely fine. Couldn't get the TV to work, but I wasn't really there to watch telly, so not a problem for me. Breakfast seemed standard NL buffet style. Good for me: I always like the cheese slices with cumin..... Can hear the chimes from the local Church 24/7. I like that.

"Nice, hotel close to the train station and town. "
The hotel was very comfortable and in the perfect location for visitors. It is a short walking distance from the train station and easy to find (you can see it from the station). It is also easily walking distance from the heart of downtown. It was the perfect home base for our stay in Leiden. It also had air conditioning, which was great since the days we were there was quite warm.
The Leiden town center, one of the largest in the Netherlands, also boasts some of the most well-preserved specimens of Dutch architecture from the 16th and 17th centuries. Examples of its important museum heritage can be found throughout the city while strolling along the canals. Don't miss the Muurgedichten wall poems, 80 of which decorate the houses of Leiden.
