“Can't wait to go back”
Outstanding Hotel with exceptional service and lovely spa. A real gem.
“very happy great people”
After traveling all over Europe in the past few weeks on business staying one or two nights in different hotels, it was a great pleasure to walk into the reception of the Mercure Dunkenhaigh and be greeted with smiling faces and such friendly people they were more than helpful. The food was very good and the service was excellent . Breakfast again very good . I was only sorry I could nor stay longer .
“Mercure Dunkenhalgh - Blackburn - Go for it!”
We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The room was very clean and spacious. The linen was clean and there was tea/coffee facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast which was cooked well, with plenty of choice for all needs. We attended a wedding there and the hotel did the catering, which was superb. The staff were very attentive throughout the daytime and night-time receptions, so if you are thinking of having a function I would recommend this hotel. The hotel has plenty of history behind it, if that is what you are looking for - including stories of a ghost! The rooms are plentiful and there are different sizes to meet all needs. All in all my husband and I had a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend this hotel.
“My experiance.”
The staff very pleasent & well mannered. Hotel & rooms very clean & tidy. Its a shame the Spa area let it down, Smelly steam room, dirty sauna, filthy male changing room.
“Winter Wedding”
We attended a wedding at the hotel and stayed for two nights. We had a lovely time; the staff were very friendly and helpful. The wedding was lovely and very well organised. The condition of the communal areas was good but the decoration of the rooms was a little dated.
“We left far more relaxed & well rested!”
We had a great stay - in one of the executive rooms. One of the best beds I have ever slept in. SPA is great. Only small gripes would be certain areas of the hotel are looking a little tired & both the lamps in our room were ripped.
“First stay at the Dunkenhalgh”
Good service, very good food, very good spa area and gym. We had a very pleasant stay.
“Fri 13/Sat 14 Jan 2012”
Our room was in an old part of the hotel and there was a smell of dampness both in the room and in the corridor/stairwell. There was clear evidence of a leaking gutter or downpipe. Otherwise the room was comfortable and warm. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was superb, if not cheap. The wines were also expensive. Overall the hotel has a lot of character but needs some structural maintenance.
“Helpful and considerate staff”
Our intended room was unfortunately not as clean as expected, and so after discussion with the reception staff we were upgraded. This room was immaculate, therefore it may well have been a one-off with the first room. The staff were understanding, apologetic and extremely helpful.
“I keep coming back”
At the end of a busy day it's very easy to be petty + critical when arriving at your hotel. And it's the little things that irritate. On this occasion check in was quick / efficient and very pleasant. I have to applaud this time. Also on this visit the breakfast cost / value was excellent.
