Nice lodge. The boy dissatisfied that we were put in an “pet friendly” room without our knowledge. Once we unloaded all our luggage, we noticed that we were in that type Of room.

Wouldn’t stay again
We booked this stay as a treat knowing the reputation of Sunnyside and we were unfortunately so disappointed. There were no amenities on sight as far as a sauna hot tub or pool, and while you are on the lake but they still charged a resort fee. The breakfast, despite them being a full restaurant was grab and go only with coffee tea and pastries etc. The room was in poor condition, just worn down in general dings in the paint, torn carpet, doors beat up with loose door stops that caught on our ankles more than once. The front door weatherstripping was worn down along the bottom and side which let cold air in like crazy so we put towels down. The shower flooded the bathroom everyone we used it so we went through tons of towels just to keep it safe to walk. Also, in the bathroom two light bulbs were out and the other two were in different hues. The room we were in was next to a stair case and so we were subjected to the very loud sounds of people thunking their heavy suitcases up and down the stairs multiple times a day. The room keys were super finicky and deactivated if you put them near your phone or used them on the back door instead of the front door. We were locked out in the cold at night multiple times taking our dogs out so we had to stop closing them to avoid it. We were in dog friendly rooms with a dog area behind it, but there wasn’t any doggie bag station or even a trash can nearby. We wouldn’t come back it’s simply not worth the nightly rate at all.

The view was great and the people are nice. It's a comfortable place to stay, even though the sofa bed near the balcony may get slightly cold with air coming in through the glass door from the exterior.

Sunnyside provides great customer service and offers a great experience when staying in Tahoe. I try to stay here once a year because it’s a memorable stay and I love the cozy lodge feel to this place. Rooms are excellent and updated. The furniture in the upstairs tea nook can be updated but it’s very cozy and a nice spot to read or view the lake. We will be staying hard again soon!

I had a meeting to get to at 4:30 and it was 45+ minutes away. I was trying to check in early. I was told it would be at least 3pm as the previous guest checked out late. I arrived at 2:45 no luck getting in so I waited around and came back at 3pm. At that time they sent someone to check on the room cleaning progress. He came back saying it was ready that all the rooms were ready. Lack of service and laziness to check to see if my room was ready just relying on "our check in is at 3pm" excuse. Other than that it was good but the pillows are way to thick all 4 of them.

The bad news
The people next to us were very loud throughout the night ( keeping us awake). The lighting in the bathroom very poor. We were told incorrectly breakfast would not be served. We had a poor response to a medical issue while seating in the bar area.

Location good. Breakfast was a joke. Restaurant disappointing-food was less than mediocre while service was average. Worst complaint is that faculty was just basically dirty with a need for a major renovation. For example, the handrails and table tops were sticky to the touch. Room had residual odors. Adding salt to the wound, hotel charged a resort fee when it was no where close to earning that designation.

The Property is in a good location pros. Cons the celling fan was loud and the rooms got really hot even at night, the air conditioning was louder but we did not need freezing cold sleep either. Bathroom sink handle was broken.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Incredibly convenient location. Right on the water. Spectacular views. A nice restaurant. Good service from staff. And watercraft rentals right next door. There are some things they could do better. Wifi is spotty throughout the property, and practically non-existent in my room (which had a partial lake view). This needs to be fixed. Checkin took a long time. There's a very nice older gentleman who was handling all matters related to the lodge, but at any given time, there's only one person who looks after guests staying at the lodge, while there are practically 8-10 people checking in guests for the restaurant. The lodge should have at least two people handling checkins, especially during busy weekend checkin hours. As a guest at the lodge, you apparently get priority on the wait list for the restaurant (if there's a wait). That's a very nice touch, but nobody bothered telling me that when I checked in. So I stood around waiting for a seat at the restaurant for longer than I should have. Parking can be totally crazy during certain hours. There are two additional lots besides what's out front, but I was not aware of the additional spaces when I pulled in on a Sunday around lunch time and the front lot was full. Sunnyside should consider sending a note to all guests before they arrive informing them of where the additional parking is. Again, I enjoyed myself here. Would definitely consider returning.

The property sits on the water and has a beautiful deck restaurant. Prices for food are high so we left to eat somewhere else. The rooms are not spacious and have tiny little decks that have a view of the water but also have a unusable roof in front of you.
