"beautiful hotel, remote and quiet location"
this was my first time staying at a ritz-carlton hotel. i was very surprised at the level of service and attention to detail that went in to articulating our experience there. my only qualms about the hotel is the mandatory valet parking, which cost $35 per day, and the $25 daily hotel charge for internet services. at the time we booked our reservation, expedia was offering a $20 per day breakfast deal for two people. this was definitely worth the money. we received in return a $71 daily credit to use in the manzanita restaurant, which is very nice (5 star or very close to it). without this credit, we would have easily spent $65-$75 a day on breakfast. and since there are only two places to eat breakfast in the hotel, this was definitely worth it. the only other thing was the fact that the time of year we went there (end of may), the hotel was very quiet (this was very nice). however, a gondola which normally takes guests for free down to the village where there are restaurants, etc, was not working about 90% of the time we were there. so in order to get to the village, i had to tip the valet guy to get the car and to return the car, which i always find a little awkward. all in all, i'd stay here again. but be warned...the price you pay to expedia is not the only cost you will incur. for a week's stay, count on at least an additional $500 in charges to stay here. it's worth the money--i just wish i had known that up front so i could have been prepared.

"Price-Buster Hotel for the location!"
Positive points: Very affordable, very accessible to places of interest, free breakfast is a big plus! Staff is amazingly helpful and really giving their best. A few negative points: 1. The window type airconditioner units in the #300's room are underpowered for the summer heat. Just couldn't cool the room comfortable enough in the afternoon, upon arrival. 2. The Laundry or utility rooms are unkempt and can be seen by anybody with its open doors. Sure needs better internal house cleaning to make the whole place nice inside and out. :) 3. I could use a complimentary toothpaste, even a small one Overall, this place is still an excellent deal! It's a price-buster!

"Excellent customer service"
We were staying there for before a 100 mile bike ride around Lake Tahoe, the staff started breakfast an hour early and allowed a late check out to accommodate us at no charge. As for the hotel and room itself, both very good.
