Adorable and imaginative design elements.

Posted 19-Jun-2015
Pros: Loved the design…BRAVO
Cons: Need to have air conditioning in the rooms…fans are inconvenient and really noisy.
Great location and creative design elements at every turn…adorable and masterful make-over of what used to be a couple of old and funky motels. The fenced lawn area with fire pits, small wading pool for kids, and lots of room for them to run is a wonderful communal gathering spot for families. It is directly across the street from Harvey's Casino, but you are off "the strip" so it's actually quiet, only a couple of blocks walk to the beach, and plenty of dining choices, also within blocks. The only real negative was that, because of the age of the buildings, most rooms do not have air conditioning so it gets really stuffy on a hot day. They did provide fans, but they are noisy so not helpful when you're trying to sleep.

Cool vibe

Posted 16-Jun-2015
Pros: The cool décor and location were great!
Cons: Outdoor stairs and hallways smelled bad, parking was super difficult.
Location: The hotel is within walking distance of the main shopping and restaurant area. And it is very close to the public beach.
We stayed here 2 nights and really liked it. Room has a cool rustic/industrial décor that we really liked. Mattress was OK, bath was nice and shower was very good. Room was clean and since there is no air conditioning we appreciated the fan. The lobby/breakfast area is also cool in its décor, breakfast however is just pastries and coffee or tea or juice, with a few apples and oranges available. The parking was very tight and difficult with an SUV and the outdoor stairway we had to use for our 3rd floor room smelled bad.

local beach perk, convenient location

Posted 13-Jun-2015
Location: loved having the perk of a free pass to the local community beach.
loved having a room with a balcony (not all of them do), morning pastries were tasty. I generally like to have more than a continental breakfast, but the coffee was very good. The location is in the shadow of the casinos and does not have good views, but the beach is very close (walkable). It is in the very touristy part of S. Lake Tahoe, so if you prefer to be off the beaten path, this is not for you. There are lots of restaurants and shops in easy walking distance.

Quirky, Comfortable, Convenient

Posted 8-Jun-2015
Pros: Décor, value, access to beach, proximity to casino
Cons: All three of us thought the receptionist was unfriendly. Maybe because we are old and the property is geared towards young active adults or families.
Location: Enjoyed the private beach and appreciated that we did not have to drive to casino.
Room and common areas matched description and photo's from web site. Very few hotels/motels offer rooms with 4 beds so was a good value compared to having to get 2 rooms. Did not realize that it was so close to casino which was good for late night foraging. Room was clean and beds very comfortable. I would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Nice hotel close to Heavenly Village

Posted 24-May-2015
Room was very comfortable and cozy. The hotel was walking distance from the casinos and Heavenly Village. Had a fun and exciting experience in Lake Tahoe, the hotel was just a bonus. Would definitely stay at the Basecamp hotel again.

Almost perfect

Posted 24-May-2015
Pros: The bed
Location: Casino, boating, and beach
The front desks are real nice even when they were busy. The rooms are clean. We had six people so we reserved one Double Queen Room and one family room. The family room's heater was not working, so we had to called the front desk to fix it. It was a quick fix. The DQ room was fine. It was about 8 mins walk to the beach, and 3 mins walk to Harrah's. It's a great location.

Nice ,trendy and quiet.

Posted 1-May-2015
Pros: I love the balcony with the Adirondack chair so relaxing and peaceful.
Cons: check batteries in heater before check in. Get ice machine and soda machine.
Location: great location just off the main street. so near everything but secluded and quiet. Lots of water sports and bike riding available.
was able to check in a little early and got a room upgrade. Did have to ask for someone to come and check the heater as it would not light. If you have a problem with stairs might not work for you or just be sure to ask for the ground floor. for me though the veranda is the best part.

The Great Outdoors in South Lake Tahoe!

Posted 3-Apr-2015 on Hotels
I was up in South Lake Tahoe for my birthday and we stayed at the Basecamp. They have recently bought, and renovated this hotel and it looks amazing! They have multiple hot tubs, one on the roof, the other is huge (20+ people). The rooms very unique and different, but very cool. The staff was great, very friendly, and accommodating. This was FAR better than staying in any of the casinos, and for the price, was FAR better than any other high end hotel in the area. It is also super conveniently located, easy to walk to everything. The only downside is that due to the nature of the building, you can sometimes here others at night talking/moving around, and they could use some new carpeting on on their stairs, but that's minor.
