This is a charming hotel in a convient walking location to restaurants and the lake. The beds are only ok and the TV was limited but the showers were hot and the balcony had a lovely view.

A hotel that fails to realise its potential
The hotel is newly built and well located within easy reach of the town's facilities and offers free on-site parking (but beware the garage parking is an extra €5/day). Room was 'fair' but decor and lighting is dull and bed comfort was not great, plus bathmat had hairs on it from a previous guest. Biggest disappointment was the breakfast - tables are pre-allocated to numbered rooms (so no choice of where you sit) and the buffet food is left open to the air, such that flies could (and did!) crawl across the cheese, meat etc! With a little more attention to detail, this could be a much better hotel than it is at present - and justify a marginally higher tariff.

Dear Mr. (ANONYMOUS), I thank you for sending me your comments on the services received at our hotel. I would like to point out that had you notified me of your complaints during your stay, i would have been able to intervene at once to find the best solution. We put the numbers of the rooms on the breakfast tables to guarantee the same table throughout the stay, but if he had told us his dislike, we would have arranged to change your table without any problem. We do not hide the fact that we have 2 parking lots, one free and a paid garage (€ 5.00 per day, it does not even seem so expensive!) Best regards

We arrived early, our room was ready so we were able to check in early..which we really appreciated. Rooms felt like they could be updated a little, but were clean and pleasant. Staff were friendly.

Great hotel-convenient yet quiet area of Baveno
This was a comfortable, quiet hotel located in a convenient position, close too all Baveno's shops, restauarants and lake front. The room-a superior room with terrace and lake views-was on the 4th floor. It had a lovely view an was clean and comfortable. The air con was efficient and the room was immaculately clean. The bed was cofortable and shower was good. Breakfast was cold items, continetal style-plentiful and filling. The pool was small but clean, with a jacuzzi jet.Pool loungers were sturdy and comfortable. Bar prices were cheap. Parking was free and safe. Staff were delightful. We enjoyed our stay.

Perfect relaxing family run hotel
First time at Hotel Azalea. Location was perfect, top floor, beautiful patio/balcony with an amazing view of Lake Maggiore. Room was very spacious as was the room my daughters were staying in. The hotel is situated in a very quiet location, a quaint typically Italian narrow street, but within easy reach of the lake front & all the amenities - bus, ferry, train...Breakfast was your typical cold meats, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, tea & coffee etc and plenty to set you up for the day ahead. Would recommend & would return.

Walked to the tour boats after breakfast and spent the day touring the palaces and gardens of Isola Bella and Isola Madre. finished with a late lunch on Isola Pesacatore.

A nice spot
The hotel is well-located and is within a block of Lake Maggiore and the tour boats to Isola Bella, Isola Madre, and Stresa. Baveno is less trendy than Stresa, a little more blue-collar. It has a nice variety of restaurants and shops. I was a bit surprised to find that the hotel charged for parking and didn't have a member of the staff who was fluent in English.

Location of hotel was excellent,room spacious & very clean however the towels were of very poor quality. Breakfast was also dissapointing,you had an allocated table & bread rolls were in a basket on your table, tinned fruit salad rather than fresh. Overall a resonable hotel but nothing to make it stand out

A superior room on the fourth floor gave excellent views. The railway line is quite close but I'd still rate this a a quiet location. Parking is extremely secure, and the room was clean and well appointed. The manager accommodated our early arrival. He wasn't particularly warm and friendly but so what ?

If you read the bad reviews you will notice the attitude of the owner features often. Did not welcome delayed guests..... "Got get up at 6am for breakfast." Yes he stand hawklike over the buffet making sure that you don't take too much...and when he leaves someone else takes over guarding. We asked for another wi fi code and we're told that you could have one device per room.... Mean. ....Terrible atmosphere in the breakfast, with allocated tables squashed together, like school dinners.... There are lots of other hotels

Good location with free car park. Friendly helpful manager and staff. Good bed, linen and furniture in room. Excellent bathroom.Good soundproofing and quiet ac. Minor problems: no blankets in room (heavy rain cooled room quickly overnight) and no access from outside car park level to reception or rooms. Car park up a steep slope.Suggest using underground parking if there is a mobility problem.Top floor rooms all recently refurbished to a high standard. Rooms 401-3 best views, 404 and 405 have restricted lake view when seated on terrace. Excellent quality breakfast. Inconsiderate smokers defied non smoking rules in rooms which carried over to our room.Some train noise. Access hotel from lake via Monte Grappa as GPS takes you into wrong one way system.

The hotel is well located, with friendly staff.
I had a most enjoyable stay at the Azalea Hotel. The hotel is centrally located in Baveno and is close to public transport, shops, restaurants and tourist attractiions. There are great views of Lake Maggiore from some rooms and from the upper level balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would recommend a stay in this hotel.

Ideal base for business or leisure
A friendly welcome, and a spacious room with all essential facilities Excellent parking in open or underground but underground recommended for less mobile. Excellent quality furniture and linen in recently added top floor rooms. High quality good selection of items for breakfast. Manager very helpful with local information. Good WiFi in room. Everywhere was spotless. Room 401 best for lake view.Only negatives: noise of trains if you want to sleep with windows open, and room 405 has a very restricted view of the lake when sitting down. Also there were no blankets in the room when it turned cold in the night in stormy weather. We do not like using central heating. Only CNN and BBC channels in English.Slope up to the car park is very steep. There is also a slope down go the lake. For access you need to enter from the lakeside up Monte Grappa and turn left after church by Elvezia Hotel. Hotel needs to enforce non smoking in rooms as many guests were ignoring this which meant we often had cigarette smell and other substances coming into our room. Manager is too nice to inconsiderate guests.

Great family hotel in Stresa area
A very nice family run hotel. Very clean, the family is very nice , friendly and helpful. The roon in the second floor was clean and comfortable and had a great view from the balcony. Good breakfast. Free parking and free wifi available in the room. 2 minute walk to the boats to Isola Bella and Isola Madre, lots of restaurants in the area. It was so nice that we stayed for an extra night. Hope to come back soon.

Wonderful view
Hotel was very good value for money. Staff very accommodating. Room always clean, good shower and nice breakfast. No restaurant but nice one just down the hill. Not much to do in the village but lovely cafe by the boat pontoon with lady from London! Overall we were very well looked after and really enjoyed our stay. A little noise but the room had zircon so not a problem.

We had an enjoyable holiday
The room wasn't ready til 2pm. The main staff members were a little dour, but this might have been because we are not very good with the Italian language and they are not very good with English. On one day the key snapped off in the lock of our room. It snapped off so easily that I didn't even notice that it had broken! I only noticed that it had happened when we went to leave for our evening meal. Fortunately we didn't lock ourselves out, but we could not leave until it was repaired. I got the distinct impression that they thought it was my fault and that I had been heavy handed. They didn't apologise for the inconvenience. Although they are basically a bed and breakfast hotel, they do offer a limited menu, which we tried one evening. This seems to be frozen food heated up in a microwave and the lasagne was still cold in the middle. The tiramisu was completely frozen - straight out of the freezer. I would not recommend the evening meals. However, when all is said and done the hotel is a place to rest your head and overall we enjoyed our holiday. The buffet ("continental") breakfast is good.

Good place to stay while visiting the islands etc of Lake Maggiore. Good views of Isola Bella etc from our windows. Rooms not over-large but OK for two. Bathroom OK, clean but a bit small. Dining room great for breakfast, though you have to ask for proper coffee, odd in Italy.... Desk staff [owner] a bit uncommunicative, maybe its just my bad Italian. Nice and quiet. Beds and pillows a bit hard. Need to have some options avbailable for us softies.

Everything we needed for a relaxing holiday
Apart from a problem with our air conditioning on the first evening (which was remedied by the next day) we were very happy with the Azalea. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable, with a modern bathroom and a balcony overlooking the lake. Breakfast was buffet-style (continental - including eggs, meats and cheese) and sufficient. There is a well priced bar, an outdoor seating and sun-bathing area with loungers, and a small swimming pool. The hotel is in a quiet spot but just a few minutes walk from the lake and the village's restaurants and shops. The boat jetty (regular boats to the islands and nearby towns) and main bus stop are also within a few minutes walk, making local travel easy and pleasant. Happy to recommend.

This is a nice hotel situated not far from the main road, the train station and the pier from where boats for nearby islands leave. Hotel is managed by a family which is very nice and friendly. The room was quite frugal but of a decent size. The shower was a bit small but also had everything needed and even a bidet. The room had a small balcony with 2 chairs where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains and the lake (not sure how much is visible from the lower floors but from 3rd and 4th floor view is great). Hotel has a free open carpark as well as closed garage behind an automatic gate. For closed garage you have to pay extra EURO 5 per day and you get a remote control for the gate. Free wifi was good with decent speeds and ok reception. For me the biggest disappointment was the breakfast. The choice was limited to 3 types of salumi, 2 types of cheese, small selection of yogurts, boiled eggs, 4 types of cereals a bowl of fruits and some croissants. Orange and grapefruit juices as well as tea or coffee. This was probably the most limited choice of breakfast I have ever seen. Although, overall considering the value for money I'd give this hotel a strong 4. If you are looking for a place to stay without planning to spend most of the time there its a good choice. P.S. The hotel also has a small swimming pool but as it was early spring at the time it was empty.

Comfortable, clean hotel in great location.
We spent four nights in this hotel as part of a driving tour around Europe. The location in the middle of Baveno is wonderful, especially with plenty of parking on site. The room is practical rather than luxurious but it suited us well. Very clean and spacious, with a balcony that really did overlook the beautiful lake. Breakfasts were typically continental type with sufficient fresh foods provided. Staff were friendly and helpul. We would be happy to go back.

We stayed here for a single night on our way to our holiday destination. We received a friendly welcome. Underground parking was useful and reasonably priced. Room was clean, comfortable and had aircon. Breakfast was perfectly adequate. (We didn't try the restaurant, choosing to eat out in town.) Would stay again.

Pleasantly surprised
Attending a major conference at Baveno and unable to get a room in any of the three fancy hotels, I ended up at the Azalea pretty well by chance. I was delighted with my experience there: it's a warm, friendly establishment, not at all formal or pompous, and the wifi connection was about as good as it gets in a rural Apline area.

A room with a view - and what a view!
We had a top floor room with a superb view of Lake Maggiore and the Borromean islands from our balcony. Room well furnished, with safe, fridge, air con etc. Pool. Limited TV channels. Pre-assigned tables at breakfast, a bit regimented - but breakfast of good quality. You pay extra for the private garage.

Charming hotel in a charming location!
I stayed in Villa Azalea with my parents during our weekend trip at Lago Maggiore. After reading some bad reviews I was curious to see how it would turn out. Luckily the bad comments proved to be nonsense and the hotel was lovely! The hotel is a beautiful villa situated in the picturesque narrow streets of Baveno and it should be easy to find (even without a navigator) as there are signs all over town. We were greeted by very friendly staff and got a triple room in the third floor, with a beautiful lake view. The room was spacious and had plenty of room for three adults. I especially liked the clean laminate floor (instead of those horrible fitted carpets). The bathroom was huge and it had been recently renovated. There was also a small fridge in the room, which was useful as we bought some beverages from the nearby shop. We parked our car in the hotel garage (a few euros per day), but there were also a lot of parking spaces free of charge behind the hotel, which seemed secure to me. The breakfast buffet was very good for Italian standards, but the only minus was that you had to take your coffee from a coffee machine. Some people have been complaining about the train that passes by near the hotel, but it didn’t bother us at all. Also the staff was very friendly and helpful, for example on the day we checked out they let us leave the car in the garage until the evening. I can absolutely recommend this hotel to all and also the town of Baveno, which is more tranquil and less touristic as the nearby famous Stresa.
