“Idyllic site”
One of our best hotel experiences--especially in the moderate price range. The hotel setting and grounds are very pretty and close enough to Lucerne to take the bus at the bus stop located in front of the hotel. Our room was nicely decorated, pretty spacious and really clean. The bathroom had a wonderful shower and lots of amenities. The staff was fabulous and very helpful. The restaurant was very good and relaxed--again great staff. The included breakfast had lots of choices and excellent service. Overall a fabulous experience! Only draw back, no air conditioning.
“Very Nice Hotel”
The hotel was very nice but I thought all of Switzerland was EXTREMELY expensive. Although this hotel was the most expensive hotel during our 3 1/2 week vacation in Europe, it was one of the cheaper hotels in Lucerne. The room was nice and very large. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and everything was fresh. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
“Fabulous experience close to Lucerne (Luzern) and Zurich”
One of our best hotel experiences--espcially in the moderate price range. The hotel setting and grounds are very pretty and close enough to Lucerne to be an easy drive. Also not a bad drive to Zurich. We stayed here two nights while visiting both cities. Our room was nicely decorated, pretty spacious and really clean. The bathroom had a wonderful shower and lots of amenities. The staff was fabulous. Our party of 3 spoke only French and English and the staff quickly determined who among them could converse with us. They were very helpful and we had quite a good time trying out our German and they seemed to enjoy practicing their English on us -- and they could also slip into Spanish which we know moderately well. The restaurant was very good and relaxed--again great staff. The included breakfast was one of the best we had in our 3 weeks in Switzerland and France. Lots of choices and excellent service. Overall a fabulous experience!
“Outstanding goregous place, 4.5 star hotel for 3 star price”
This is a beautiful small boutique hotel / bed & breakfast type place our room was very clean, comfortable, modern, and quiet, with a beautiful view of lake lucerne and the mountains, amazing at sunrise, as is the whole area. there's a small pasture out back where they let a couple of small ponies graze which are fun to watch. it was quiet and i slept well. wireless internet is included and worked well. breakfast is included and was absolutely delicious, the fruit is very fresh, croissants and cheeses and coffee were very good also. the hotel staff are top notch! friendly and very helpful, they went out of their way to help us find info on our travel plans. plus, they speak english well which was fortunate for me as i don't know much german. the balm meggen hotel is located right by the "balm" bus stop which goes right to the main luzern bus/train station, the busses are very clean and efficient as is usually the case for the swiss. this was without a doubt the best hotel of the 3 i stayed at while in switzerland, and the price was very reasonable (i stayed end of october, which i believe is considered the beginning of "off-season). i recommend this place 100% and hope i have a chance to go there again some day and stay longer.
“Comfortable and friendly”
Although slightly out of downtown Lucerne this hotel was welcoming and the room we had was large and well appointed, The rooms were clean and the bed extremely comfortable. There was only a shower but it was very large. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast provided was excellent. We also had dinner there one night (the fixed price menu) which was good value and well explained by the wait staff. Overall a veg comfortable and friendly hotel.
“Hotel with room to improve”
Location is ok, breakfast normal, room is noisy, cannot see the lake Lucerne from hotel. Internet is weak to non-existence, and the staff reminded me it was free, but free wifi with no acess is still useless.
