Tiki in Lake George

Posted 12-Sep-2014
Pros: Room, convenient location, clean, friendly staff
Cons: It was incredibly disappointing that all dining, lounging and entertainment ended the day after Labor Day.
Location: Lake George usually has a great deal going on but whereas in the past it went on until Oktoberfest, it now apparently ends after Labor Day.
Having been born and raised in the area, I never stayed at the Tiki before this past week. Going back to visit, I remembered how fun it looked, and couldn't wait to stay there. The only disapointment at all was the lack of entertainment. It seems as though as soon as Labor Day was over, everything shut down. There was no restaurant, lounge, or entertainment of any sort; just a cafe open in the morning where you may purchase breakfast. No donuts or anything left out for guests, just a daytime cafe. I would not go back there off-season (which apparently starts the day after Labor Day) but I have to say that everything else was fantastic- the room, the cleanliness, the atmosphere. I would consider going back during the season to finally get to experience the Tiki that I was looking forward to experience, but other places locally have better conveniences off-season with rooms just as clean and ambiance just as pleasant.

It's just OK, not good nor bad. Hotel facilities need to be updated. I feel this hotel is over priced, but good location in Lake George area.

Could be worse

My husband and I went for the long holiday weekend to celebrate his birthday. The hotel was ok, I guess for the price really what did I expect? It just needs some upkeep done and I don't think its getting done. The worst part was the hallways, they smelled terrible, I don't know what it was. Maybe mold? Once you got in the room it wasn't as bad, we basically ran down the hall to our room to avoid the smell. We never at there so I can't speak to that. The pool area was nice, so was the indoor pool. We did the luau and that was fun, the guy who was the head of it made the show, he was hilarious. Overall it just need some updating, deep cleaning.....basically a decent reno. Staff was nice, we didn't interact much with them but the ones we did were very pleasant. We wouldn't go back since there is nice places, closer to the water. But it was in a good location to town. Next time I'll pay a few more bucks for a nice place!

Comforters were not washed/cleaned properly. We stayed on the second floor & there was no elevator, only option to go the room was stairs. Overall hotel was ok, staff was polite and nice. I would recommend to take a breakfast at the hotel's restaurent even though it was not complimentary but it was worth to what we paid.

Pros: Evenings on the new patio deck by the firepit very enjoyable.
Cons: Nice Polynesian show. Dinner show food needs to be upgraded. Breakfast was ok, nothing great.
Location: Great location at one end of the village. Walkable to all. Next to Fort William Henry.
Great stay! Close to everything. Walking distance to beach, restaurants, you name it!! Would go back!!!

Decent theme hotel

Room was very clean staff was friendly enough. Relatively quiet and pleasant though not all rooms are as advertised. Our room was tucked up against the maintenance area so a few days we were woken up to some noise but I guess you can't expect every rooms location to be a home run in a fully booked hotel. Close to lake George village and other attractions along the main drag.

Too costly for the room we got

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Staff were nice but the cost of the room didn't match the quality. Looks like they had started to paint/renovate but got busy with something else. Two days later we stayed in another resort town in similar age motel which was cleaner and in better condition for half the price.

close to town without all the business

Pros: I love that it is out of the village but close enough to walk.
I have stayed at many of the hotels in lake George. a couple weeks ago I stayed at the lodge which was very expensive. Due to rain the park was closed so I had 8 tickets left for Great Escape they had closed the park for the day. My sister and I decided to go back up to use the tickets but didn't want to spend a fortune when we only needed a place to sleep. The Tiki must have been grand in it's day! However we found the staff sweet we didn't have any problems at all. The bed was comfortable and our room clean. The walls are pretty thin as far as hearing other doors slam when people enter and leave their room but people could be considerate and not let them slam but you find that usually wherever you go unless it's a new structure. the patio with the fire and music was very relaxing after we got back from our walk downtown. it's a short and dark walk but has sidewalks. Breakfast was a super deal at the Tiki! I will go there again.
