With a façade redesigned by Italian architect Giuseppe Terragni in the 1920s, Hotel Metropole Suisse offers a lobby area with a bar and several seating areas with couches and upholstered chairs. Open 24 hours, the front desk provides a safe-deposit box, complimentary newspapers, tour assistance, and concierge services. Wireless Internet access is available in the lobby for a surcharge. Imbarcadero restaurant serves a daily buffet breakfast, as well as à la carte lunch and dinner menus with a focus on fresh local seafood and regional cuisine. Guests dine in a formal dining room with white tablecloths and coffered ceilings, or on an outdoor terrace overlooking the lake. Room service is also available during limited hours and, for relaxation, a sauna is at guests disposal. Limited onsite parking (surcharge) is available in the hotel's garage and an airport shuttle service (surcharge) can be arranged.

“Lake views to die for”
Ask for (or pay for) a lake facing room - we had a balcony which could be enclosed if it wasn't so warm but gave a great view straight out onto Lake Como. Room lovely, but bathroom quite dark, anyone likely to be applying make up needs to take a mirror with built in light, and use it on said balcony. Great location & lovely staff.

“Comfortable hotel in an excelent location.”
Spent six nights in this hotel in a room overlooking the lake. Hotel is in the centre of Como near to the embarcation point for boats on the lake. The staff were efficient and polite rather than friendly.The restaurant next to the hotel can be good but is not consistent and is expensive. Breakfast is served here and is not included and is the only meal which can be charged to your room.

The hotel was absolutely charming and in the perfect location right on the lake and in the centre of town. Convenient to everything. We had a full frontal lake view which was stunning. The staff were fabulous and ready to help with all our requests from restaurant suggestions to ways to park our car to minimise parking costs. We would love to return.

This is a great hotel in a perfect location on the Lake. We stayed on the 4th floor and payed for the Superior Room with a balcony - definitely worth the price. The crane is still working in front of the hotel - it's January 2010, and looks like it will be out front for months to come. However, it didn't hurt the view from 4th floor. The photos on Expedia may be older, because our room was very modernized and updated - a nice surprise. The bathroom has beautiful slate tile and a heated towel bar. Would definitely stay there again.
“It is what it is....”
...and that's a friendly, well located and comfortable hotel on the waterfront. Views from the (recently redecorated) room overlooking the lake and Piazza Cavour were great and despite the position was not at all noisy (with the windows closed we could hardly hear any external noise). Room 27 looks to have the best balcony to watch the world go by on two sides of the hotel.

Unbeatable location with a great $12 Euro Buffet. Very helpful, curteous & professional staff. Take the fast boat to Bellagio then to Monestary Cepressi at Varenna stop.
“Great Hotel with a view”
The location of the hotel couldn't be much better. The room was nice, comfy and clean. The view from our balcony was spectacular. The ferries were located right across the street. Shops and restaurants were close by. The front desk attendants were very helpful. The best thing was that we could gaze upon beautiful Lake Como day or night.

This really was an amazing hotel and a wonderful holiday. The hotel is a wonderful mixture of old charm with every mod con you could require. The room was large compared to other European hotels and beautifully furnished. The staff were very professional and extremely friendly, room service was very fast and and the food is excellent. But what made the hotel stand out for us over others was its prime location and the glorious view over the lake from our room and balcony. Can't wait to return to Como and the hotel as both are very special places.
