“Decent hotel”

We were looking for a moderately priced hotel in a central area close to the bus station and the old town. This hotel was good for those reasons, but also was decent for the cost and happened to be in a shopping mall, so for the times that we didn't want to go far for food, etc., we had the necessities close by. There's also a nice park across the street, our room overlooked it. The front desk staff was very helpful to us as non-Spanish speakers.

“Excelent service and quality”

The hotel is near to the train station and is inside a large commercial area with everything that a traveler could need.

“Hotel Area Central”

A modern hotel built in a shopping mall about a 20 minute walk from the historical centre. A local bus service is another way of getting into town. Very quiet, nice roomy rooms and a good breakfast, all at reasonable rates.Don't be put off by the shopping mall and the modern apartments, this is a developing part of Santiago. I would certainly use it again as would 2 English ladies we met who had spent 4 days there whilst expoloring Santiago

“Area Central Santiago de Compostella...amazing...”

This has been the second time I stayed at the Area Central. The expedia price which was amazing and the quality of the hotel is one of the best deals I have come across in a long time. I highly recommend this hotel. The only 'negative' and it really is a negative is that it is about 20 minute walk to the Santiago Cathedral. The modern facility, cleanliness, comfort and price make up for this many times over.

“In rather a bleak area very modern, the area not as traditional as I expected”

Good budget price but rather out of the way of the City. We were able to walk and the taxi ride was only 5 euros

“Great value - but you are staying in a shopping complex!”

We felt the hotel was a real bargain. Breakfast was also excellent - but note there is no bar or hotel lounge. Area Central is a modern concrete shopping centre; it does have bars and restaurants but they are not really very Spanish - you could get this sort of stuff anywhere in Europe - quite a shame when you've come to Santiago. However, there is a good bus service into town. There is supposedly hotel transport as well, but we were not offered this.

“Great Hotel, but not Actually in the "Central" Area”

The hotel was great, and the staff were very helpful (and spoke English). However, "Area Central" is the name of a shopping center that is a bit outside of the central part of Santiago - it does not mean the central area of the city. The hotel is located inside of this shopping center. It is not far or difficult to find, but the name is a little misleading. If you are travelling by bus, this is a convenient location since the bus station is nearby.

Very kind staff. Not to close to the cathedral, but could be there quickly. A big mall with many stores to get anything you need.

“Friendly and clean”

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Location was OK - there's a bus into town or you can walk it in 20 odd minutes, Breakfast very nice. Room was clean but mine was small and next to the elevator shaft. I could hear the lift going up and down. Didn't bother me but might upset a light sleeper. My mum loved the hotel and she's in her 70s. Surreal having a view of the mall - I enjoyed this quirky aspect of it.
