“Great hotel”
Great hotel right on the subway line. Not downtown near all the sights but a quick walk to the subway line and easy access to everything. Surrounding area is a park and is very quiet, nestled in the foothills of Mt. Hiei. Staff is very helpful and courteous. I have traveled extensively in Japan and this hotel is one of the best I have stayed in. Great service for the price!
“great hotel in a beautiful setting”
The hotel is located in the north-east section of Kyoto - a beautiful setting with lots of greens in the area and mountains as a backdrop. It is walking distance (5 min) to the Kyoto International Conference Center (a gorgeous venue for meetings) and also close to a subway station, from which you can take a 20 min ride to go to center Kyoto (Gion conner etc). The hotel itself is pretty and very nicely maintained, with rooms as big as comparable hotels in U.S. and views of the conference center and mountains. The only drawback is that there is no wifi service. You can only pay a fee to connect through ethernet in the room.
“Best Hotel in Kyoto”
We stayed on the Royal Floor of the Grand Prince and loved it. Fantastic, large, comfortable room overlooking trees and a koi pond. We then moved to another hotel that was recommended by Fodors as the best in Kyoto for a business meeting. arly second class compared to the Grand Prince. We were longing for our room at the Grand Prince the whole time we were at the Westin. The Prince is on the outskirts of the city and is the last stop on the very convenient subway line.
“Very nice rooms, good service, easy to get to”
The room was big and had a very nice and big bed. Bathroom has everything you need and was very clean. The neighborhood is quiet, residential area with not too much traffic. The subway station is just about 50m from the Hotel entrance, the train ride to the center/train station only takes 10-15 min. and is a lot cheaper than a taxi. Do not take the bus since the bus ride takes around an hour from main train station to Hotel. I can highly recommend the Hotel, but I do however not recommend to have their breakfast since it is overpriced (about USD 35). Our deal was very cheap since breakfast was not included.
“wonderful hotel”
The Park Hotel Tokyo exceeded our expectations. The views are great, the rooms are surprisingly large and efficiently laid out, shower was great, staff were wonderful.
“Worth the extra distance”
The Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto is a half hour subway ride from Kyoto station but it is basically worth the ride for the peace and tranquility of the setting. The main drawback is eating - the hotel is expensive and there is not much around as an alternative plus you are not supposed to bring in external food.
“Tranquil refuge”
We stayed on the Royal Floor of this hotel for five nights in May 2009, as we explored this beautiful city and surroundings (Nara, etc. Busy days but the view of the treetop greenery just outside the huge windows was a great reviver. One rainy afternoon we just sat in our comfy armchairs and enjoyed the tranquillity! The spaciousness and furnishing quality of the Royal floor room was well worth the price premium. We used the tea/coffee making facilities in the room but we didn't eat in the hotel as this IS expensive. There are plenty of alternative eating options within a 10 minute walk of the hotel, ranging from high end Japanese cuisine through family-type steakhouses and right down to Japanese fast food and (shudder) the imported golden arches. Plus grocery stores and big electrical outlet. All these establishments are in the main east-west road at the northern exit from the subway station (opposite end from the hotel/conference centre exit). There is a great walk around the lake adjacent to the conference centre, and if you keep going you can get immersed in an interesting suburban exploration. We used the non-cleaning service on three of the five days and made good use of the Y4500 in vouchers at the hotel giftshops, which sold at surprisingly good value - comparable to in town. We used the subway 3-4 times each day and didn't find the trip from Kyoto Central too much of a drag. The refuge at the end of the line made it well worthwhile.
“Surroundings to die for”
we read a previous review on this hotel which said they paid the extra and stayed on the royal floor. we did the same and it was worth the small amount extra.probably the best room we have ever stayed in. the area was so fantastic. a very different contrast to the rest of japan. love to stay there again.
“Excellent Experience in Kyoto”
Beautiful, spacious, and quiet rooms! My most enjoyable hotel stay in numerous visits to Japan over the last several years.
“Excellent hotel in Kyoto”
This is an excellent hotel located far from city center in a very attractive park. Getting to and from the hotel to the city is quite easy, with a subway station only a few hundred meters walk from the front door of the hotel. The rooms are large and well maintained. Breakfast is just "OK". We ate all of our meals outside the hotel and thus can't comment on their restaurants.
