Enjoyable stay
Great hotel, great location. Overall stay was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would like complementary bottled water in room daily which was not provided. Great facilities and modern finishes.

Disappointed Hilton Stay
I was extremely disappointed with the overall service considering this hotel is rated as a 5-star hotel. It took 3 attempts to make telephonic contact with the reception desk when calling to enquire about the parking options. When I arrived at the hotel, the elevator to the lobby was out of service. The key card system was offline so had to be escorted to the room and the key delivered later. The furniture looked very poor and had water damage. There were stains on the curtain that looked like blood. Water was leaking from the ceiling that woke us which I reported and was promised that a service person would come to follow up which never materialized. I ordered a halaal meal for a specific time at breakfast as suggested by your hotel guide however when I got to the restaurant, there was no special catering waiting for me and my wife. I am sure that Hilton will just offer a standard response as usual and not make up for this poor experience.

Most of the staff was great pleasant friendly. Whatever I ate was great and tasty, however almost everyday they ran out of something or the appliance did not work and so on. Not really the standard of a Hilton hotel. You could not see the bottom of the pool as it was foggy. The windows dirty and by the pool a glass windshield was broken or missing and it is clear it has been missing for a long time. There were amenities displayed on the cctv which did not exist or work. The restaurant opening times changed without notice. there was no draft beer for 5 of the 9 days we were there. Clearly management lacks or funds do. But I still had a very good time. Initially when we got there we were assigned a room on the 1st floor but then the porter said no!! we need to get you a better room and he did. Interesting when we got to our room now on the 9th floor it seemed that some one was just there. There was a half drunken bottle of water in the room... funny things like that happened regularly.

We had to wait for for over 30min because our rooms were not available. We booked in as a family and the rooms were so far apart being a total risk for the kids. But the hotel itself is good. Just not children friendly.

Breakfast experience needs a notch up at this Hilton. Kids are not catered for... no coco pops, chocolate donuts. 'Models' need to hold the coffee flasks and serve coffee at your table.. instead of us guests walking to find it. Location of this hotel is at a good vantage point.

Great hotel, service needs work
The hotel was lovely and room 1217 was very comfortable. There were however service and training issues:- 1. We arrived late with a tired 8 year old and reception had no record of my checking in via booking.com. The process was frustrating and I had to tell the clerk to please hurry as we had a tired child 2. At the elevator. We waited, with the sleeping child. The first elevator we let others take. We were then the only people waiting. The elevator took a while. When the elevator arrived another group arrived as well and our bellhop then helped them in and blocked us from entering. I objected and said "Are you serious? We were waiting already." He seemed intimidated by the other people but eventually told them to get out of the elevator as we were there first. 3. I ordered 3 beers from room service. When room service brought these to me they were sealed and there was no bottle opener in the room. The room service person was not prepared, had no bottle opener. She agreed to get an opener. Which she brought to me 15 minutes later. Then took away and said I would have to call to open the other bottles. This after 11pm. More is exoected from a 5 star hotel than a great piece of architecture and decor. Staff should be better trained and should want to help rather than react as if customers are an imposition I must hiwever commend the chef making the omelletes (01 Dec breakfast) for his personality and eagerness to help. Please convey my thank you to him.

It’s a 5 start and deservedly so! The only downside was that our room was on the second floor and the was an event at the Durban ICC, so sound blasting through the speakers was a bit too much if you just wanted to relax. But overall it’s a great comfortable hotel.

Business hotel by ICC
Booked my whole team into the hotel for a project we executed at ICC over a week. Thoughts consistent across 7 people. Lifts are slow and horrific, really bad software or something, but slow and anywhere near peak times adds 15min to your exit time. Breakfast good, but often run out (they bring more, but more waiting). And our last night had a street music something outside that could be heard across all our rooms until early hours. Simply not good enough for a business hotel. However, great bed, great wifi, great shower and fantastic staff. These are good things done well. Hotel revamped since I last stayed there, so felt fresh still and after a week was good.

Hilton Durban for the win!
We had a wonderful stay at Hilton Durban, from the friendly pick-up from the airport to check-out, the staff were great. The ADA accessible rooms were perfect. It is fantastic that luxury was not sacrificed for utility on that front. Everyone was extremely helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Only a ten minute walk to the beach, which is pristine.

Warm, friendly hospitality at its best
The staff are very friendly and helpful - from check-in, to concierge to cleaning staff. The room is nice and big, but the bathroom is very small with the toilet half a meter away and right in front of the shower. Bed and pillows very comfortable Well located right next to the ICC

It is a nice facility with a lot of staff. The rooms were spacious and clean. The Big Easy restaurant was a nice place to go to do a bit of work. The basic wifi could have been a lot better connected and faster—not really good on the patio. UBER arrives quickly as there is not yet much else around hotel yet. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful and well kept hotel. Delicious food and atmosphere. Will recommend this hotel to every visiting Durban.

Hilton never disappoints...
Our 3 night stay was absolutely amazing. The staff was most efficient. Thank you for the delectable birthday cake surprise. That was the cherry on the top. Love your Brand-always.
