“Great place to relax”
great friendly staff and a great place to relax and unwind. Quiet and peaceful setting. Highly recommend
“Amazing place for a honeymoon!”
After booking what we thought were the huts over the ocean; we arrived at paradise and were very disappointed with our "lagoon view" villa. The hotel staff were all amazingly friendly and Thomas the General Manager was able to sort us out and move us to the room we thought we had booked; which was in fact a "ocean view". Once moved, all was beyond fantastic. Highly recommend the resort; located on a remote island a convenient boat shuttle away from the city; it was absolute paradise! The food was amazing, the service was incredible and the "ocean view" or better rooms were a perfect!
“A delightful Honeymoon”
Even though we did not get the honeymoon package, with the fast spread of word at this hotel, we were quicly treated just as special. The workers care about their guests and they do a good job of acting "normal". I loved that anything was possible here. Nobody ever said "no". When we were kyaking, we were put on the kyak and left to wonder where we would like. We felt the independency and privacy but still cared for. The breakfast is fabulous and the resort is so well maintained. Just wonderful :)
“Loved the marine ecology concept!”
This was a lovely place for the whole family. All the rooms in the resort are on stilts which was lovely, so you are walking over water the whole time and can watch the fish swimming around under and around you. The rooms were very comfortable and we managed to fit our whole family - 2 adults and 2 kids - in the room. Our room was right next to the check in area, which meant sitting on the veranda and having a cocktail and reading was an experience to share with everyone passing by, but otherwise it was nice. The food was good, though pricey, as were the drinks. I was actually a little surprised at how expensive Kota Kinabalu was. A wee bit overpriced, I must say. I love to snorkel but found the snorkeling by the hotel disappointing. The water was murky so visibility was very limited. The sister hotel, the Bunga Raya, had a lovely beach but the snorkeling was not bad there too. My kids loved the Marine Ecology Center. My daughter went there every day. One thing I found annoying was how difficult it was to get to the mainland. Unless you want to pay $5US for a 10 min boat ride, you have to go at their rather inconvenient schedule. We spent a morning at the Mari Mari cultural village (definitely worth a visit) and wanted to stay for dinner at the night market but couldn't because the boats go back at 6 and then 10 - too early and too late. Considering the general lack of Malaysian food at the hotel, this was disappointing. But otherwise, a v nice place to stay.
