Dear Lauren, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Once again we apologize for the small misunderstanding at check in. Again, we're very sorry the housekeeper overlooked the water bottle in the fridge, this is definitely not something normal. Had you reported the dirty sheets and cold shower during your stay, we would have been more than willing to sort these out however we did not know about these therefore nothing could be done. Dear Jantakarn, Thank you for your feedback. Whilst the bathrooms in the hostel are cleaned regularly, they can sometimes clog if things that aren't meant to be flushed (there are signs advising against this) are flushed down. This is the case in most parts of Thailand that use a septic tank system. The blockages in any case are cleared when our housekeepers clean the bathrooms. During your stay we were not made aware of any broken doors and have since checked them to verify that they are all in fact working as they should, but we apologize for any inconvenience. We're glad you at least enjoyed the view and hope that any other accommodations you stayed in throughout your holiday met your expectations.

Thank you for your feedback & we're sorry you didn't like the food of the nearby restaurant but this is a separate business that we have no control over. Our housekeeping staff will only enter the room if the sign requesting this is hung, if the sign saying "please make up my room" hanging on the back of the door is not enough of an indication, this is also explained on the information sheets and also the booklets in every room. We feel its unfair to blame the hotel if you chose not to pay attention to this. This system is similar to hotels all around the world and has been put in place to ensure guest comfort and privacy, staff will simply not enter the rooms without the guests' consent. We apologize if this inconvenienced you and hope you could enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Dear David, Your recommendation of booking "a night at a time" puzzles me. This is what you did, booked for 1 night at a time for a week. You were clearly unsatisfied but remained in our dorm, contrary to your own recommendation - so something must have kept you here. Perhaps you found it so vile that you felt the need to brave the whole week so you could leave review after review expressing your dissatisfaction? (your only problem seems to be with the slight smell in the toilets which which has since been resolved). Most of our guests are happy with the accommodation they receive however it is understandable that some are not, this is normal in any accommodation including 5 star resorts. Should any of our guests decide they would like to leave our hotel before the end of their booked stay, an effort is made to find a suitable compromise and this is usually agreeable by both parties.

Dear Elena, Apologies if you did not appreciate your stay stay with us. Regarding the first room, forgive me but I'm not sure what you're referring to as it is very easy to get around the hotel and to the beach, which is a positive many of our guests note. Whenever possible we try to accommodate our guests' requests to the best of our abilities however during very busy times of the year this may not always be possible, so once again I offer apologies if we were not able to satisfy any additional requests.

Dear 'Anon', Thank you for taking the time to leave your review (one of many). Apologies you were not happy with your stay here. The air fresheners were installed as per your request, even though you were told they wouldn't make a difference. The slight smell only seemed to bother you during the stay and just from the positive feedback alone, one can easily see the majority of our guests are happy with what they receive. Yes we are a budget hotel, but you seem to have taken it out of context. As was explained, during the time of your stay we were at full capacity in both the hotel and dormitory, a closure of the dormitory's bathrooms & showers would have caused a major disruption and certainly more problems than the slight smell which was present.

Yes its true that our hotel is one of the most active on the beach with an average of 87% occupancy year round and many return visitors every year. The airport and all piers are 30-40 minutes away from our hotel, different people have different opinions on long distances. The areas around the airport and piers in general are not very tourist oriented and not really popular locations amongst visitors here, which is why the bulk of the hotels on the island are located closer to Koh Samui's beautiful beaches; in order to better cater to travellers' desires. I'm sorry if you found our hotel to be "below average and uncomfortable" but perhaps you should have specified as to what exactly do you regard as "average" standard for a budget hotel? Or rather what was "uncomfortable" about your stay? This type of constructive feedback is what hotels like ours use to help improve our services in the future. With regards to the staff being "not the nicest or most outgoing" I think you can easily find the many reviews commending our friendly and charming staff, so once again I'm sorry if they weren't up to your standard. Nevertheless, on behalf of Rich Resort Beachside hotel and all staff, we hope you were able to enjoy your holiday on Koh Samui and welcome you back on your next visit. .
