“Best beach hotel”

This was a totally relaxing experience from the moment we arrived,(cool drink on arrival), being driven to our room and flowers and fruit in the room on arrival. The food was excellent, 3 themed evenings, BBQ by the beach or Thai evening at the poolside plus a stesk night. Rooms were huge with good air con and minibar. The beach was beautifully clean and quiet and only a short walk to the main Chaweng beach and shopping. Staff could not do enough for you. The new hotel building work was not noisy amnnd did not spoil our enjoyment. Due for completion in 2010. Would go back again.

“New Star Beach Resort a Koh Samui : belle plage mais service limite”

Les bons points: - plage attractive: propre, calme, securisee, quelques vagues, sable fin sans rochers (une des meilleures de l'ile) - hotel de taille ideale: plage, resto, lobby a moins de 1 min a pied - chambres-villas spacieuses (90 m2), dans un style local et moderne - spa aux prix tres raisonnables - upgrade possible (payant) Les mauvais points: - personnel peu qualifie: tres jeune (quasi absence de managers), anglais difficile, quelques erreurs de facturation (diner facture 2 fois) - service peu efficace: 40min d'attente pour commander un plat mais 1min pour la note, pas de lit bebe prevu a l'arrivee malgre notre reservation pour 3 personnes - restaurant tres moyen, surtout les plats occidentaux, diners sur la plage tres chers (2 fois le prix hors de l'hotel) - wifi payant (30 euros pour 5j) et peu fiable - infrastructure faible: coupures breves de l'electricite en soiree (assez frequent a Samui) Remarques: - Cet hotel date de 1981 mais a ete completement renove en 2008 - La clientele etait a 75% russe (tres peu de francophones, ni asiatiques)
