“Following Sir John A. to Guelph”
It was good enough for Sir John A. Macdonald and it was good enough for me. It's an old fashioned inn with surprisingly high ceilings and wide hallways in the heart of downtown Guelph. We were in easy walking distance of everything we wanted to see in the city centre. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I will return.
“Very nice people!”
I had a job interview at 4pm and instead of making me pay for an extra night they let me stay in a meeting room and work until I had to leave for my interview. They were so helpful and even gave me suggestions about where to eat for lunch. As a single woman traveling alone, I felt very secure and am very thankful for all of their help!
“now called the ROYAL INN”
this hotel is no longer the travelodge guelph but call THE ROYAL INN
“Charming Historic Hotel”
Clean and good value. As this is an older hotel, room layout may be somewhat different than the norm. Our room had high ceilings. The were a couple of steps leading to the bathroom (floor was lower than the rest of the room). Staff were helpful. Upon checking in, we had been assigned a smoking room rather than non-smoking. Staff were quick to correct. Good breakfast buffet. Located in down-town Guelph. Road construction in the area, although did not interfere with access to hotel parking lot.
“Great Location and a Nice Weekend”
The place was in the perfect location right downtown for we didn't have a car. This made it extremely easy to navigate guelph. The hotel isn't huge but it certainly was clean and I thought it was an average experience.
“Royal Inn downtown Guelph.”
very quiet, clean and only hotel downtown guelph - great location if you like to walk. good value hotel incl. breakfast & no extra charge for parking.
“Royal Inn Guelph”
traveled to Guelph by train, so this was very convenient as it was a short walk from station. Reservation was made through EXPEDIA and was pre=paid, so reservation was ready. They had Free WiFi which worked well. Room was alright, nothing fancy. On surface was clean but probably could use a real scrubbing for out -of way and secondary parts of room. Bathroom was fine although in morning someone else had lots of pipe noise, but this was more amusing than anything else (internal plumbing of hotel). Coffee machine worked and plugs for all my electronic things. Didn't use TV but radio was fine. Sheets clean and room temperature was fine. Breakfast was very minimal with some fresh fruit, lots of bread and cereal. Some Yoghourt and bagels . No eggs or pancakes or cooked stuff. Room was clean and tables spotless. Price was right and was close to lots of services (restaurants, clubs, other "divertisements' as well)
“Not top of the list.”
This is a very old hotel that is definitely showing it's age and is dark in character typical of older places. The room was a single queen bed room which was small yet comfortable enough as far as the bed and pillows went. Sink and shower faucets are old and in need of repair. Although old, the room was very clean. Was here during a heat wave (51 degrees Centigrade with humidex) and the hallways were extremely hot as well as the elevator. Accordingly, the air conditioner ran constantly on high in the room to keep up with cooling the unit. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and courteous. Free continental breakfast is minimal with cereal, bagels, fruit being the basics. The street the hotel is on is very dirty and many restaurants in the area are not on air conditioning. Would need to drive to hit decent restaurants. Heavy construction around hotel at this time which will be nice when all completed. Comfortable enough stay but if you want bright and upscale accomodations then should go elsewhere.
“So so to poor”
Old hotel. Room was very small. Heater wasn't plugged in so took awhile to figure out why no heat. Heater fan loud and cycled on and off, not great if you are a light sleeper. Older type TV and cheap remote. For the price paid it was ok for a one night stay.
“Less than stellar”
The hotel is very old and tired and the rooms need redecorating and the bathrooms are less than immaculate and function poorly. The hotel is on a strip of pubs and they must rent rooms to pub crawlers because the first night we were there, it was so noisy from midnight to 4 AM that IU couldn't sleep.
