“Irish Honeymoon”
This is the 1st hotel we stayed in on our honeymoon in Ireland. The staff was exceptionally nice. Our room had a view over the river of the castle and town. The parking was very convient (only 2 euros) right in front of the hotel. The hotel is located right in the middle of town so it was really great too. The only bad thing is that there were big black spiders outside on our little porch which would crawl through the door if you opened it.
“Comfortable and convenient”
A pleasant, modern-ish hotel on the river opposite Kilkenny castle. Very convenient location. Large, comfortable rooms. Clean and well-maintained. Wifi connection in the room was patchy. Staff seemed pleasant.
“Very Comfortable & Convenient”
Booked this hotel through Expedia and got a good deal. The hotel is right in the centre of Kilkenny and is two or three minutes walk to the town centre and the Castle. The view of the Castle and the river from the restaurant is very pretty. The buffet breakfast was very good and meant we needed very little food until our evening meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was very conveninent being able to park in the on-site car park and walk to the town centre.
“satisfactory experience”
Everything was satisfactory except the hotel is quite noisy.
“Overpriced and overrated (should be 3 Star) -- would look elsewhere”
We arrived in peak season (summer arts festival) and paid top dollar for a hotel room that at best deserves a 3 star rating. The first room we were shown had a view of the parking lot and was a smokers room, even though we booked non-smoking. They switched rooms for us when we pointed this out and we were offered a room with a view of the river and castle The hotel is in a great location The issue is that the hotel is in need of renovation. The furniture in our room had clearly seen much better days. The public spaces as well were not in particularly good condition and clearly not at a 4 star level I travel extensively around the world for business and pleasure (about 75 hotel nights per year) and was disappointed in this hotel. I stayed in a beautiful hotel in Dublin two days later where 4 Star really meant 4 Star, and the price offered appropriate value for money
“Very Loud Event Hotel”
The hotel was worn, and this is an event hotel where the events are much more important than guests. Parties on the beautiful vernada kept us awake until 3 AM with people literally screaming and partying with management doing nothing to control the noise. At 6 am we were awaken after 3 hours of sleep by the sound of metal being pulled across the pavement as empty kegs were loaded on a truck.
