“Lovely hotel in centre of city”
My wife and I were impressed and delighted. Not cheap - but cheaper with an Expedia deal - this is the perfect hotel for an exploration of the city and cathedral. The restaurant is superb for dinner; again not cheap but there is a very good deal for hotel residents.
“Fantastic location!”
Went here for weekend away without kids. It's right on the High Street so there are a plethora of bars / cafes and restaurants right on the doorstep. We set ourselves the challenge of eating in no chains all weekend and had more than enough to choose from - La Trappiste and the Boho Cafe are both highly recommended. The hotel staff were all more than helpful. We ate the seven course taster menu with wine on the Saturday night - well worth the experience, but a very expensive meal. We certainly weren't over-full as the portions are tiny, but with seven courses you wouldn't want great platefuls. We went for the Desirable room - very comfy bed and furnishings. The only downside was the bathroom which was slightly tired looking - paint peeling and a bit chipped - but everything else was great.
“Pricey but worth it”
This is a very European Hotel (it is in England, afterall) and our long weekend stay way wonderful. It is in the heart of downtown, historic Canterbury, within walking distance to much of historic Canterbury. Our room didn't have a clock-radio, and was at the back of the hotel with a view of the carpark, but otherwise was very comfortable. Our one complaint was that the taxi can't pull up to the front of the hotel because it is fronted on High Street, a pedestrian-way. There is a side entrance which we found out about on our second day, so after that we could get to a taxi just down the road about 100 feet from the side door. Staff is wonderful, and the bar provides ice as requested. The restaurants lived up to their good reputations.
“Amazing beds”
ABode hotels have the most fantastic beds - if you want a good nights sleep when travelling then you will love the ABode. Try the set menu for inhouse guests in the restaurant - great value & superb food
“Beautiful hotel”
Very nice hotel with immaculate rooms recently modernized. Staff extremely helpful Recommend this to anyone without hesitation. Great location for local sights including Cathedral.
“nice and clean and good location”
i loved it
“Highly Recommended”
An excellent hotel with professional, friendly and helpful staff. Top quality rooms and faciilities, including car parking which was not mentioned on the website. The central location could not have been more convenient for all that Canterbury has to offer. A very enjoyable experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. However breakfast in the Michael Caine restaurant was disappointing and poor by comparison - the staff clearly modelled their customer service on Basil Fawlty, my breakfast order was slow to arrive, not what I ordered and came with a blonde hair on the food. There are very good alternative places to have breakfast close by.
“Easter Weekend”
excellent hotel, recently refurbished. clean, friendly, helpful. absolutely great location from which to explore Canterbury without needing to trek a long way home - perfectly central.
“Brilliant despite the smallest of mishaps.”
I have to say that overall the hotel was top notch. Certainly amongst the best I have stayed at (but for a price you would expect to have to pay). The base price of a night's stay is reasonable but once you start adding in extras like breakfast or even just overnight parking(!) the cost adds up quickly. However even after all that and the small mishaps like the locking in of my car or the cancellation of my key at midday when I had ordered a late check out for 3pm paled into insignificance when compared with the joy of the huge bed, walk in shower and luxury bath. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic break in Canterbury.
“Feedback about hotel stay”
All of the staff were very helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is in the perfect location for visiting the local touring sites.
