Set between Yokohama and Tokyo, Kawasaki is technically considered part of the Great Tokyo region. A main draw in this area is the Kawasaki Daishi temple, built in 1128 and famous for preventing misfortunes. A stop at the Nihon Minka-en (Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum) presents reconstructions of 24 historical buildings from 15 prefectures, dating from the late 17th to the early 20th centuries.
