This hotel located on the ocean with Maui in the distance was a delightful surprise. The property consists of two story bungalows; the lower with Lanai, the upper with balcony, situated among tropical trees and landscaping. Because the restaurant had not yet reopened after a fire rebuild, we were pleased to have a microwave, frig, and coffee maker in the room. The room although small, did not seem overcrowded with twin beds (very comfortable), dresser, desk, and night tables. A separate area for frig, etc. was provided. The Lanai was private, screened by tropical plants and a pleasure to use. For those wanting a swimming beach, you will have to drive 6 miles. Although this hotel is located right on the water, this area consists of mud flats (interesting to explore at low tide). There is a beautifully maintained pool next to the bar (which we did not use) but we noticed it was very popular. Complimentary breakfast is very basic, but the seating, open air tables fronting the ocean, was lovely. The rooms are not air conditioned but have been constructed to provide maximum cross ventilation and there is a fan in the room. Although it was very hot during our stay, our room was always comfortable. The hotel staff exhibited the aloha spirit, gracious and accommodating. The restaurant, we were told, would reopen in a month's time. I would choose to stay here again and again.
