“Would certainly go back”
A really pleasant hotel. Small with colourful touches, lovely garden. Within walking distance of places to eat, and the local bus ( we did not have a car). Extra touches like availablitiy of beach towels, chairs, boards etc. Very close to the beach. All staff very pleasant and helpful. We prefer to stay in this type of accomodation rather than resorts.
“garden island inn is very nice and worth it.”
Review on Hotel. the owners are great and they have anything you need to borrow for your time there. the grounds are pretty and it is pretty quiet. The bed was great and comfortable. we had the tropical room cause it was a little larger. we would stay there again. mahalo Garden Island Inn
“GLP: Great Little Place.”
This little hotel was tiny but so accommodating with little amenities like being able to take out snorkel, fins, beach towel, beach chair, even ice chest, too, without signing out. Power bars were always available along with coffee at the office. Location couldn't be closer to shops, restaurants and the beach. Hawaiian music was aired throughout the day so you could chill out in the little outdoor courtyard. Art on the doors gave you the feeling that you were really on a vacation in the Pacific. Excellent place!
“We'll be back”
A great quiet and quirky little hotel - like Hawaii used to be before the big hotels moved in. Right on Kalapaki beach in center of all the action. If you're looking for luxury - this isn't the place. If you want a relaxing vacation at a clean comfortable place with a great staff Garden Island Inn is for you. Manager Steve makes sure everything is right all the time. Read reviews complaining about street noise - we stayed 8 nights and never experienced any noise issues. Courtyard with local music and tiki torches at night was a nice touch. A real gem. Give you a true flavor of Hawaii.
“GREAT FIND.. WILL STAY AGAIN”
I just returned from a 1 week stay in the orchid suite at the Garden Island Inn.. it was great, I always feel like its home away from home... The most relaxing hotel Ive ever stayed at with great people and 3 great resturants within walking distance.... you park right in front of your room not like the mariott where its 3 miles away or $10 to valet.... great place
“Very Convenient Hotel”
We made a reservation here for our first night in Kauai because we couldn't get into our condo unit in Poipu until the next day. It's convenient to the airport, good restaurants are nearby, and the beach, waterfalls, etc are a short drive away.
“It was the perfect spot for convenience ( this was a short layover) and across from the best eats.”
I decided on this place based on the previous person's review ( so it pays to give feedback). Quaint, quiet and convenient, very comfortable bed. Within walking distance from beach and the best restaurants and souvenoir shops. I highly recommend this place. Taxis know exactly where you are.
“Garden Island Inn Kaua'i: My Aloha Abode”
Staying here was like staying at my aunt's home, but without the family obligations. I was greeted by Sheila when I checked in, my room was cleaned by Judy, and I was checked out by Germaine. All the ladies were courteous, warm and friendly with easy smiles. The room was spacious and clean. The location was prime with Kalapaki Beach just within minutes while food and shopping were closer. Even closer still was the Kaua'i bus stop which was just outside the hotel grounds. I took the bus everwhere I needed to go. I visited the towns of Lihue, Hanalei, Waimea, and Kapa'a all by bus. That helped lower costs, but it also gave me a chance to catch some local flavor. During the night I did hear the parking lot because I was on a ground floor room, but by late night, all I heard was the ocean surf which was very relaxing. All in all, I really enjoyed my stay at the Garden Island Inn. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying on Kaua'i, especially if they stay in Lihue. I hope to visit Kaua'i again next autumn, and I intend to stay here then too!
“Outstanding, a simple delight”
Our family (2 adults and 1 teenager) needed to be self-catered so we stayed in the apartment associated with the Garden Island Inn, not in the Inn itself. (Though we would have loved to have stayed at the Inn!) The apartment is showing some signs of wear, but was very clean and comfortable, and well appointed, and had a great view out over to the beach. All the staff were absolutely marvellous, happy with suggestions for things we might like to do, and with no request to hard to sort out. BTW the artwork in the rooms was simply outstanding and we've never stayed anywhere where the painting in the rooms were such valuable (>$4K) originals. The complimentary videos, towels, beach mats, boards, drinks, snacks and even golf clubs made everything so comfortable. We had a memorable stay and have already planned a return visit.
“Quiet and private”
We liked the hotel very much but wished we weren't so close to the office. We would have wanted a 2nd or 3rd floor so we could have an outside space to dry bathing suits. The place felt quiet and private even though we were close to restaurants, shopping and the beach. Most of the front staff were very nice...one not so much. One wonderful woman actually helped my kids open their coconuts! This all adds to the memory of Kauai which our family has saved for quite some time. We would be happy to return...tomorrow!! Aloha and Mahalo
