    “Great Location & View”

My husband and I just got back from Kaua'i. This was our 1st time to the island, so we didn't know what to expect. When we arrived, the check-in staff was so pleasant & friendly. They even upgraded us to an ocean view room that was just steps from the ocean at no extra charge. The grounds were beautiful with a pool, jet spa, bar that included a full time bartender, and a laundry mat. The room itself was so-so. The floor was all tile, which i was not a fan of. There were also nats flying around in the bathroom. However, we were not in our rooms much, so it wasn't that bad. It was a great location since it was right on the beach. And it was a great location on the island since it was 1/2 way between the north and south sides. One thing to add...don't plan on swimming on the beach. There are actually just a few beaches on the island that you can swim on and this is not one of them. It is a great beach to watch the sun rise or catch some rays.

    Area recommendations
If we back to Kaua'i again, we would stay on the south side in Po' ipu. It had better beaches for swimming and snorkeling. It was more of a resort town too.

    “"Amazing, friendly and relaxy."”

I would recommend this hotel to anyone! Young, old and everyone in between. The setting doesnt get any better, a short walk to a private beach the pool and hot tub area with a nice bar. The staff were very helpful with anything you needed and the facilities were clean. Great for kids as it is very private and not that busy. Also have great shopping within walking distance with several little places to eat. Cant say enough about it.. We r already planning another trip there. Aloha

“We have stayed here on all our visits to the island. Lovely hotel. We'll be back again.”

We've stayed here 3 times in the last 10 years. It's a very nice hotel in a great location. Rooms are updated, comfortable and clean. Step outside your room and you're on the beach. But before you go grab that lounge chair on the sand, stop in at the Sand Bar to enjoy a yummy umbrella drink and meet up with some other great folks. We're always looking forward to our next visit.

    “Right for the money!”

Excellent value for the price! Stayed there for 3 days with husband & two young children. Excellent location, surroundings, right on the beach and in the middle of shopping center with places to eat! Would stay here again. Stay here, you will enjoy your stay!

    “Good value for price”

BAD: Main issue is that the front desk isn't open 24 hours, so if you have problems late at night, or before 9am; tough luck. They need to do something about the illegal parking from a nearby bar that steals hotel guests spots. Had to request 2nd room after first one had a bad AC and desk tried to talk us out of being moved. GOOD: View was beautiful and made it all worthwhile. Room was well cleaned and had nice small kitchenette. Good location, close to most everything.

    “Good Budget Alternative”

Hotel is simple, pool id dated and not as nice as the adjacent hotel pool. room are loud and musty smelling. Can't swim in the beach infront of the hotel. Staff is friendly and has a good locals bar a few feet away.

    “Paradise without Breaking the Budget”

My wife and I showed up for our honeymoon hoping to upgrade to an oceanfront room, but nothing was available when we checked in. Our first room was a nice ocean-view unit, but on the third floor, so a bit of a hike with luggage. On the second day we were able to upgrade to the ocean-front room, but a refrigerator leak required a little hotel maintenance to clean up. To their credit, the staff took care of the problem quickly and we had no other issues all week. For the most part, all the workers we spoke with (front desk and grounds maintenance) were very friendly and eager to help or offer advice. The hotel grounds are meticulously maintained and quite stunning in appearance. Adjacent to this hotel is a shopping complex which provides easy walking access to food, souvenirs and other general supplies, which is pretty handy. I could not leave this island without a generous serving or two of shave-ice, and there is no shortage of that product in this immediate area. So, in conclusion, this is a great place to stay and centrally located, but you probably don't want to travel all this way and then stay in the hotel all day anyway. There is far too much to see and do on this island, enough to keep any person or family busy. Speaking of which, there is an on-site advisor to help with the booking of any guided tours, luaus, or other planned activities.

    Area recommendations
Where do I start with this one... I would recommend seeing as many waterfalls, beaches and natural landmarks as you can get to. There is Hanalei Bay and the Lighhouse to the north, Poipu to the south, Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali Coast on the west and much more. There is more natural beauty on this island than I can describe, see as much of it as you can while you are there.

    “Good, inexpensive option”

The Aston Islander was a great base-camp during a recent trip to Kauai. Central location near Kapa'a was very convenient, as was its proximity to dining/grocery options. Would stay here again.

    “Good Choice for us!”

Getting the motel and air fair as an Expedia package really made this motel affordable! This motel was on the beach and away from the Highway, making it a quiet sanctuary. The grounds were beautiful, and we upgraded to a partial ocean view. Beautiful eating breakfast out on the Lanai. With a room refrigerator, we picked up fresh fruit at various farmer's marketsm topped the fruit with coconut or pineapple yogurt and granola, and had a delicious breakfast. There were many nearby restaurants as well as a free Hula show twice a week across the street at the Coconut Marketplace. Our room had 2 double beds (which were comfortable), a small table, TV and airconditioning. We also had a table with 2 chairs on the Lanai. Since we were out and about most of the day sight seeing, we were mainly in our room for sleeping. Very adequate! I appreciate a tub, and my husband likes to shower: The room had both. There was plenty of storage: under the bed drawers, a wardrobe, a dresser, as well as bathroom storage. My only concern was the lack of soundproofing. Our neighbors above us moved furniture around several times at 3 am. The scraping of chairs floor tile aove us woke me 2 nights. One Saturday the neighbors next to us were noisy, as well, and the sound traveled through the walls. Overall, however, we were VERY PLEASED with our stay.

    Area recommendations
We visited the entire island. Rented a car and went up North of Princeville one day, visiting many of the beaches along the way. Parking was tight. We should have gotten an earlier start! One day we drove up the Waimea Canyon and did a hike. Kapa'a has a lot of dining establishments to choose from. For snorkeling, we appreciated Poipu Beach. We got to swim with a giant sea turtle, and saw a seal sleeping on the beach, as well as a remarkable variety of fish. Also, a helicopter ride to see the Na Pali Coast and waterfalls is highly recommended!
