“Good Hotel But Kind of Dated”

The hotel grounds were not well groomed and the hot tub was out of order while we were there. (two nights). The beach is quite a walk from the hotel and is actually Lydgate Beach Park. The water is calm as this is an enclosed swimming area, but because it is enclosed, the water is not as clear for snorkeling as we found at other beaches. The hotel is older; therefore, the rooms do not have wifi. The kitchenett was extremely outdated with an old refrigerator and chipped sink. Aside from being outdated, the room was clean and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. If you have young children and are looking for a good swimming area and great playground this would be great for you. Be aware, there is no eating establishments within walking distance except for the hotel restrauant/bar.

“Aston Alhoa exceeded my expectations”

I was very surprised the hotel only has a 2 star rating. I was upgraded to a one bedroom cottage for free!!

“Perfect for playing around Kauai!”

The hotel is not new so it's a little out of date but it is very clean and right on the beach - for the price, it is GREAT! We would def go back again!

“location location location!”

while it may be true that the hotel could use a little upgrade (newer beds, flat screen TVs) i still can't complain. for a very low rate, i was 20 steps from the pool and had a GORGEOUS ocean view! the staff is super, and the location could not be better-only 5 or so miles from the airport, right next to lydgate park and did i mention right on the beach? oh, and free parking, too!

“Delightful Location”

The Aston Aloha is a very friendly hotel in a wonderful location right on Lydgate Beach. We stayed in one of the cottages and while we had a few issues with the ceiling fan and the slight musty odor the overall experience was positive. The fridge also had two settings....frozen or off. The roosters woke us up early every morning and we had visits from a couple of tiny lizards.....all the joys of a tropical locale. The short walk to the beach was fantastic. The path all along the beach is beautiful and the children's play area is wonderful for families. We also had positive experiences in the hotel restaurant. I'd go back again.

Outdoors or beach

The beaches are incredible. We went snorkeling (with Captain Tara), zip-lining and tubing (Kaua'i Outback Adventures) and drove to the very last lookout in the Waimea Canyon....totally breathtaking view. The chocolate plantation is pretty yummy too if you like to sample tropical fruits and dark chocolate. Just walking the path along the shore is amazing and we spotted a couple of rare Monk Seals. And lots of chickens.......

“Moderate and comfortable”

We originally were in the Kauai Sands, it was unacceptable. We were moved to the Aston Aloha Beach Resort which was a budget minded property but definately better than the Kauai Sands. The employees were really awesome there, Rhonda the night gal at the front desk was great!

“cheap option in Kapaa”

We chose this hotel as a last night of vacation and close to the Lihue airport option, and it served that purpose nicely. It is a little dated and out of style, but clean and reasonably comfortable. It is by no means plush. We did not spend much time on this property as there were many nice places to hang out very nearby.

We enjoyed lunching and dining at Duke's in Lihue at the Marriott.

“Pleasant stay”

We had a great view of the beach, the entire staff was friendly and no problem with parking.

Area recommendations

We really enjoyed the drive to the North Shore and attending North Shore Christian Church. They made us feel like family and are looking forward to seeing them again. You should also check out Waimea Canyon as well!

“Good, basic hotel”

A good, basic, 2 star type hotel. The people who work there are really great! The facilities need a lot of maintenance......sliding glass door was stuck in place-open. Food and drink were very good.

“Very Satisfied, will stay again, if available!”

Only bad thing I can say was that the airconditioner was old and really noisy. Had a hard time falling asleep with it going off and on due to the tempraure in the room. If they can fix that, it would have been perfect. The front desk people were extremely friendly and happy to help with anything. The tour desk got us on a helicoptor tour that was actually opened by the attendant. Didn't get to eat in the restaurants, closed when we were hungry, but the town is nearby and easy to get to by car.

Area recommendations

Take the helicoptor tour by Blue Hawaii, it was comfortable and felt very safe and secure. Great pilot! Friendly and great tour guide. We got the full course! Such beauty and in total awe of nature.
