Jose Ignacio Vacations
Jose Ignacio is situated about 90 miles (145 kilometers) east of Montevideo, the national capital.
Of course, visiting just one place, regardless of its popularity, can only ever give you a narrow glimpse into the wider personality of a region. So try to allow a few days to visit Uruguay's other attractions. Peninsula, 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the northeast, and Gorlero Avenue, 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the northeast of Jose Ignacio are also worth visiting should you have the time.
If you're staying in Jose Ignacio, don't forget to experience Punta del Este. Approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the southwest, this regional city is home to La Chihuahua Natural Beach, Isla Gorriti Natural Reserve and Brava Beach. Solanas Beach, Mansa Beach and Punta del Este Port are just a sample of the many other visitor attractions in Punta del Este.
Visitors with an interest in history won't want to miss the area's fabulous old towns, fortresses and ruins.
If you're the kind of traveler who prefers life's gentler pursuits while holidaying, this region is great for sunbathing and cycling.
And at the end of your holiday, pack your suitcase and wish Jose Ignacio "Adiós" (farewell).
