I liked its location, very secure and within shopping mall However l encountered some mishap during my stay on 14th March alarm trigered and we had to rush downstairs by steps from 25th floor and following day 15th March on our way from the mall water was gushing along the sky walk what l didn't like is on all in incidents there was no one to direct guests nor any word from management also hot water was erratic during my stay

good stay
Everything was good and staff very friendly and helpful. My only criticism would be that the breakfast staff are way too attentive and stand very close to you while you eat your breakfast and constantly come and clear up the table. If you finish a glass of orange juice, they instantly take the glass away so I had to get another glass.

I don't know whether we were just given a crappy room or they all happened to be like that over christmas. The aircon was not working, the drainage in the bath and the sink are both awful to use they do not pop up as they should, there was no hot water and the water cut when it was needed. I don't want to give a bad review because i do not know if the other rooms have that issue but the room we were given wasn't right. Cleanliness was the only plus there was about the room. To add the staff do not appear to communicate to each other as what we would ask one they had a different answer than when we had asked the other, how is that acceptable?

Glad I chose this great hotel.
Excellent service, luxury and comfort. The one issue is that the air conditioning on maximum was still quite warm. Otherwise an excellent hotel, good food, clean and also very safe and comfortable in a great location.

Very nice Hotel
Overnight stay on our way from Australia to Mozambique. Room was large and very comfortable, beautiful hotel overall with a nice large lobby and helpful staff. Club rooms have a handy seperate bar area on the club floor you can utilise. Overall a great option in Johannesburg.

Miserable stay
On my second stay in this hotel, my room was very warm and stuffy. The air conditioning did not work properly. Breakfast in the restaurant was low quality and over-priced. Staff was not helpful.

Hotel near very upscale stores
Hotel lobby was nice. No heat in rooms so we called maintenance. A guy came quickly, got up on his ladder, etc. and pronounced the problem fixed. Unfortunately, that was not the case and he ended up bringing us a space heater. We could have asked to move but heater worked fine and it had been a long day.

Five star hotel in the middle of a great city
Happy to recommend the hotel to anyone travelling to SA. Among the best 3 hotels in Sandton cutting across everything that makes up a great experience. Apart from breakfast which could be better if variety was extended to more healthier options, and the Executive Lounge which is amazingly tiny for such a wonderful outfit.

Age is starting to feel
Possibly the Grand Dame of hotels in Sandton, the Intercontinental is starting to show its age and is lagging behind on newer hotels. Stayed on 2555, high floor with great view. The bad: The room has a 40 pin Bose speaker, which left stopped production with the iPhone 4... the bed side overhead lamps are worn and looked stained, the toilet flush is getting loose from the wall. The breakfast/dinning room is clearly outdated, the service was far from what is to be expected; tables were not quickly cleaned, or properly set, missing cutlery pieces, napkins etc. the waiters, albeit kind, seem like they have been there since the hotel opened, so one does not know how feedback is received. The good: the bed is great, as is the shower. The gym is the best I have seen in a hotel, by far (highlight!!), housekeeping is kind and helpful, as is reception and the valet team were superb! I will return because I liked the people, the gym, and the skyway to Sandton city, but they need a serious facelift

A bit of luxury in Joberg
This is a great hotel in Johannesburg. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was fantastic. We stayed here for a night after 3 days in safari, and enjoyed the luxurious room.
