"Good location, comfortable, friendly staff"
My only complaint about this hotel is the lack of free wi-fi in the rooms. Otherwise I couldn't fault it. My room was very comfortable and clean, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful - they even pushed me to the front of a long line for check-out one morning when I locked myself out of my room after a gym workout. Incidentally, the gym is very good, plenty of natural light which is not always the case.

"Clean, Comfortable, Friendly & Convenience"
The hotel is about 50M away from Chin An Temple Station which is very convenience to travel from either Pudong or Hongqiau Airport by Line 2 City underground train. Hotel staffs were very friendly and room I stayed was fantastic - clean, comfortable and all facilities for business or holiday travelers.

"Enjoyable stay"
Hotel felt rather luxurious from the entry foyer to the room. The bathroom was well appointed with a fantastic shower that actually had decent water pressure. Our room overlooked the houses and some low rise buildings. The room was very quiet with a firm mattress, but not too firm compared to most Chinese standard of beds. Train a 10 minute walk away. It costs about $40AUD from the airport in a taxi doing 140km/h. Should have learnt to say slow down in Chinese.

"Great Hotel!"
This was my first trip to Shanghai and I was very impressed with the Portman Ritz Carlton. The Hotel is outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone travelling to Shanghai. If possible, upgrade to the Club Level Rooms. It is well worth it.

"A Bit of History in the middle of Shanghai City"
If you intend to go to a country that does not speak English then be prepared to have problems in translation. This Hotel- a piece of pre war history has the ambience, the tech you need and the help you need. Take photos of the Chinese translation of where you want to go--research the web. All the info is there and our hotel hails down a taxi. The Metro subway has English translations --it is so good. Yes you can haggle prices--but know what the correct price is first. Food for tourists is expensive so find the out of city centre places and there the gastronomy is amazing and cheap. If your figure is small like the Chinese--clothes are amazing and well priced but if you are big--just look lol Extra large is equivalent to 12 in Oz. Lots to see--just smile and they will help every time. Oh --be aware of the ladies toilets--take paper in with you and be prepared for a clean but horrifying experience- find out for yourself . Buy Alcohol at corner shops.

"Best Hotel in Shanghai!, Perfect location, close to restaurants, bars, consulants, hospital, airport"
As an American on business in China, finding the right hotel is becoming more of an important aspect of ensuring I get the needed comfort and rest for my business the next day. There are plenty of English speaking receptionists who can help me get taxis to bars, restaurants, and the Pudong airport. They understand the importance of quick service and have been accommodating every time I have visited. There are places to dine, work out, and have business meetings all inside the hotel. There is a hospital within walking distance and access to freeways within a KM. I have had hotel employees walk more then a mile with me to help me find the right medicine I needed from a specific pharmacy, along with translating the transaction and making sure I paid the right amount and didn't pay too much. Whether you are a first time visitor to Shanghai on holiday, or a long time businessmen coming back on a normal basis. I highly recommend the Shanghai Hotel. (This is my first online hotel review, I just felt my experiences are worth sharing)
