In desperate need of an over-haul!

Posted 7-Jul-2014
Pros: Riverfront views. American Grill fare.
Cons: Almost all of it.
Location: Downtown Jacksonville
Great place to watch the Independence day fireworks. Entire staff needs training on cleaning, maintenance and customer service! Hotel is in desperate need of renovations and THERE ARE NO FRIDGES OR MICROWAVES IN THE ROOMS! Is that how they were able to become green certified? At least the bed was comfy and the food was good!

Not As Expected

Posted 1-Jul-2014
Pros: Not much at all other than the staff friendliness.
Cons: Condition, cleanliness, insect management, updating, garage leaks.
Location: We ate at the Burrito Gallery and it was good food. Atmosphere was a little quirky. Reminded me of college.

Terrible customer service !!!

Posted 29-Jun-2014
After calling to request rooms side by side were placed on different floors. Then walked into a room already assigned. Bathroom door locked us out. Front desk Latoya was so rude and tried to charge us for 5 additional breakfast which we had already paid. Very rude. Scanned thru my personal phone when I was showing proof. Very unprofessional !! Never again!! Don't waste your money.

Solid choice

Posted 26-Jun-2014
This hotel seemed a little dated. However, the staff was excellent, the location convenient, the facilities adequate and, in my experience, the room service was surprising good (really good burger and sweet potato fries). I recommend this Crowne Plaza fairly strongly.

Not as expected for the price!

Posted 18-Jun-2014
Pros: Not much overall. Breakfast buffet was cold food that should have been hot at $20. per person
Cons: All things I mentioned above. The price was outrageous for this hotel. $300. per night for one qween bed. Rediculous.
Location: We only used this room for the country music festival for a place to sleep.
The curtains would not close enough to keep light out and light could be seen into hallway all around the doorway. The walls were thin as you could here your neighbors. Otherwise room was clean but very small. No bathtub disapointing and shower did not drain well,

River view

Posted 17-Jun-2014
We had a river view room and it would have been great to have some chairs on the balcony. The walls are very thin, could hear everything in other rooms. Otherwise nice place.

Expect More for the Money

Posted 18-May-2014
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Rooms need to be upgraded ASAP.
Location: Did not find much of anything to do in downtown JAX. Travel was easy due to skyway, but there was really nowhere to go.
Hotel is very outdated. Room was very small, no fridge or microwave, and furniture was old. Expected much more for the price we paid. No fault of the hotel, but I95 is under construction right at the hotel exit, and it was extremely difficult to get to the hotel.

Functional, but disappointing

Posted 16-May-2014
Pros: Good location, walking distance to some restaurants.
Cons: Rooms are very old, just didn't seem to be clean.
Location: There's a nice variety of restaurants, it's close to friendship park.
I have always associated the Crowne Plaza name with sort of an upper middle class vibe. It's not exactly a luxury hotel, but it's better than good. This location did not live up to my expectations. The room was very, very old and just didn't have a very clean feel. Nothing overtly wrong, but definitely didn't feel like taking my shoes off. The bathroom vent had a loud, deep rumble. There is a bar in the lobby area which is a good feature, but again, it was disappointing. A glass of red wine was served not at room temperature, but warm/almost hot, as if the bottle was stored against a light bulb. Parking is pretty ample, but it was disappointing to have to pay extra to self-park the car in a garage which was not even close to full. A sign was posted next to the front desk which suggested they are in the process of renovating, which I hope includes renovating all the rooms. It's a hotel in a great location with a good name, but isn't as nice as what a Crowne Plaza hotel should be.
