Close to concerts, entertainment, night live

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Pros: It was clean and close to our venue. Offered car service.
Cons: Keep bar, restaurant or room service open later. At midnight on a Sunday, all were closed. There was a concert and game in town, so disappointed.
The hotel staff was very friendly. Valet parking was available and quick. The restaurant was okay, and the bar was small, but efficient. The room was clean and had a balcony, which you don't get often. Car service was provided at a reasonable rate to our venue. However, when we returned from the event around midnight, everything was closed - restaurant, bar, and even room service. It would have been nice to be able to get food/drinks on a Sunday at midnight. Disappointed with that.

worst service ever

Posted 14-Oct-2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything.
I have received better service at a Motel 6. We checked in at 4 pm which is the designated check in time. Are room was not ready and they were to call us. Never received a call, I had to go back up and miraculously a room was available. Other patrons had been waiting for hours so an hour wasn't bad but our room should have been ready. Per other patrons, people had not been checking out on time but again the hotel should have started at 11AM to kick people out.

Check in time was minimal even with the football crowd coming in. The staff was friendly and professional. The view was beautiful and the room was very comfortable. Well worth the stay!!

Just ok

Posted 8-Sep-2014
Hotel lobby bar had terrible service. Ruth's Chris is located in hotel so that's a plus. Location is ok if you're driving but not much in walking distance. A walk across the bridge lands you a few blocks from county jail so have fun on the "river walk". I wouldn't stay here again based just on location. Hotel itself is very nice & staff good with the exception of lobby bar.

1 elevator working of 4:

Posted 31-Aug-2014
Where to begin, the valet was rude and let us/ two five year old boys and mom wait in hot humid heat for fifteen mins, while hesatnext to us in his AC valet office with complete view of us. 1 elevator worked out of 4. Naturally we were on top floor. Our stay simultaneous to a huge family reunion-- needless to say long waits. My friend also visiting with two toddlers and teenager. Her toilet ( thanks to previous occupants) overflowed all over room. It took tech staff till 11 pm to fix. They didn't change her room??? Littlest toddler handed mommy a thing which did not belong to her but must have been left by cleaning staff when they failed to thoroughly clean room. Moving to Hyatt tonight. Will never return!

Convenient to downtown Jacksonville

Posted 29-Aug-2014
Pros: The front line staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room and the hotel amenities need to be brought up to par. You really felt like you were staying in a Holiday Inn and not the Crowne Plaza.
Location: University Club of Jacksonville in within walking distance and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse was very nice to have within the facility.
We started our evening at The University Club in the Riverplace Tower as hosts during the New Member Social. After the reception we looked for a late night dinner location and walked to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse which provided great food and service as usual. When we finished our meal, it was very late and we were very tired and did not want to get on the road for a long drive home. Since we were already in the Crowne Plaza we figured we would play it safe and stay at the hotel for a good night's rest before driving home the next morning. We were surprised to find the hotel amenities just so-so and not up to par with other Crowne Plaza's we have stayed in before. No in-room fridge, the bed was ok as far as comfort and the over all room was very mediocre. For the price and brand recognition, we expected more. We may choose another experience next time we are in downtown Jacksonville and need a place to stay. Why not, there was nothing making us want to visit the Crowne Plaza again.

Good Hotel

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: Overall a good choice.
Cons: The plumbing.
Location: Convenient.
Good hotel in convenient position, with mainly friendly staff. Could do with an overhaul of the plumbing system, as we had to change rooms because of water leeks. Also construction work was going on both on the hotel roof, and the advertised riverside walk, which was still under construction. Plus we were not happy with paying an excessive daily parking charge.
