“Best deal in Istanbul”
I stayed at this hotel for over week in March 2010.The overall conditions of the hotel and the services they provided clearly exceeded my expectation. The hotel is located in perhaps the most beautiful part of Istanbul and surrounded by well preserved historical neighborhood streets with small shops and narrow alleys that clearly entices visitors to walk and check the area by foot. The hotel management and staff from the receptionist to the others all were very friendly and accommodating.Contrary to my expectations they all spoke English very well.The rooms were very clean and comfortable.The breakfasts they were serving were good and with great quality. I dont hestitate to recommend this great hotel to other visitors who are looking a quality hotel that is not old,located in a nice area of the city and yet very accessible to the major attraction sites.
“Great Stay at the Byzantium in Istanbul”
What a great time we had at the Byzantium Hotel. from the moment we arrived Genghis was there i=to help us in every way. I asked if we could have coffee and it was immediately available to us. This was a very welcomed touch as we had been traveling from NY and had missed Breakfast, The room was very clean and overlooked the Bosphorous. Although the bathroom was expremely small, I must say the shower was fabulous. All the staff at the hotel was extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us when needed The rooftop restaurant was lovely with great views of the sites on one side and the Bosphorous on the other, Hotel is located close to the Major sights in Instanbul. Short walking distance to all. I would highly recommend The Byzantium Hotel and would return there should I ever find myself once again in Istanbul.
“Great location, nice staff and very clean”
Great location in the heart of the historic district. Within easy walking distance of major historical sites and restaurants. Ask for a waterfront view up high. It might be an upgrade but it is worth it. The hotel itself has been renovated but if you are looking for predictable Marriott style, this is not it. Also, it is in the middle of a busy neighborhood so it is not always quiet outside. The room we had was extremely clean, the staff nice and helpful and we would go back. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop restaurant at the end of the afternoon where we could sit and watch the river traffic and discuss our day. I will recommend it to my friends who want to experience Istanbul at a reasonable cost.
“Great location”
The hotel is in a great location to visit the "Blue Mosque", the Cistern, and the Hagia Sophia as it is situated in the Sultanahmet area. Our room was small (on the 4th floor), but opened onto a terrace for a nice view. I understand that the rooms on the other floors are bigger, but no terrace. The bathroom was small, but modern. The hotel staff spoke English and recommended a great restaurant just downt he street named Albura Kathisma, which was wonderful. The hotel had a car service to take us to the airport when we left; however, the driver did not speak English and was taking us to the wrong airport. It all worked out, but we arrived at the correct airport a little later than we planned. So, if you use their car service, double check the location you are being taken to, it could have been disasterous.
“Byzantium is fantastic”
Very impressed with the Byzantium, particularly after having stayed in two other hotels prior to this in Istanbul. A lovely hotel with good service and in a great location (Sultanahmet) close to all of Istanbul's major attractions. Highly recommended.
“Hated to leave”
Great experience. This hotel is perfectly located in Sultanahmet in easy walking distance of everything. The rooftop restaurant with the breezes off the Bosphorus and the evening prayers from the mosques was magical. Our room was clean. The staff was friendly, helpful and not intrusive. The bed and bathroom were modern and comfortable. About the only complaint is that the TV was too small, but we didn't go to Turkey to watch TV anyway.

“Just as expected”
As expected from the reviews before i booked; the staff at Hotel Byzantium did not disappoint. I had a great stay and would certainly go back.
“Great location when in Istanbul”
The locations proximity to the spots you want to visit is terriffic. Hotel personnel were always going the extra step. The place to stay in Sultanahmet!
“Great Location & Wonderful Staff”
This hotel was a jem. Great location for shopping and see the sights...it's only a short walk to the Blue Mosque and several bazaars. The restaurants were great and the people were always friendly. The staff at the hotel actually recommended a great resaurant just across the way! The breakfast was good...and included, which having traveled several times in Europe, you see the advertisement of breakfast included, however come to find out it's actually not. The rooms were a bit small, however this is not uncommon in europe, and always clean! The staff was very nice and I would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in Istanbul.
