Very good hotel
Very close to main attractions. Very good view of the sea from the room. Though a small room but worth more than the money you pay due to its cleanliness and being close to the main attractions. Would definitely like to stay again here.

Awful! The owner treated me like garbage.
I've never had a worst experience staying at a hotel. We stayed at the Chora Guesthouse for only one night, after 3 weeks of travelling around Turkey. When we checked in, I asked the proprietor for advice on getting to the airport, and he kept trying to get us to book his friend's shuttle service. His friend's shuttle service started at 9am, and would get us to the airport for around 10am. I really wanted to be at the airport for 9am, and so I told him that this would not work and asked if there was another company that left at 8am. He kept insisting that we book through his friend, and after awhile of me, insisting that I wanted to leave earlier, he finally snapped. He yelled at me, at the top of his lungs, and waved his hands in my face. He accused me of not trusting him, and that I was just a tourist and I should listen to him. After he yelled at me, he muttered under his breath in Turkish throughout the rest of the transaction ( we still needed to pay for the room, and he still needed to show us to our room). I was furious at how he treated me. I wanted to leave, but had already payed, and I didn't want to spend my last night in Istanbul running around looking for hotels. I was so upset, that I went to another hotel and asked their front desk for advice on getting to the airport. Otherwise, the location is good, but the bathroom was dirty--especially the shower. The room itself was pretty. For the same price though, you could stay somewhere nicer. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!

Chora Guesthouse served us well for a brief respite in our travels. We stayed but one night and therefore are unable to review any potential breakfast options. The room, however, was adequate. We had enough space and were comfortable. The toilet needed to be shut off by a valve or it would run without stopping, which was somewhat of a perturbation, but nothing of any serious weight was askew. The hallway up to the room was quite steep. Otherwise the management was nice and we enjoyed our single evening.

Very clean and efficient. A little odd that the "check-in" was actually the convenience store below the guesthouse, but overall a nice stay.

It was a nice trip, me and my wife stayed there for 4 nights, great value for money,good sea view, excellent proximity to historic places,and nice breakfast.The steps towards top is very steep and there is no lift.Rooms are tiny, but neat and clean. Anyway I like this hotel

We chose this hotel after reading the good comments online. What a disappointment! We arrived a little after 8 am to drop our bags at the hotel so we could walk around and come back to check in later. The guesthouse's door was locked. There was a note saying to ring the bell to get answered. So we rang the bell. After 5-7 minutes standing in front of the door knocking and ringing the bell, the owner opened the door. He was very rude with us saying that we should not come that early and that we woke him up. He then told us we should have sent an email or called him to warned him we should be arriving that early. He told us that the room was not ready at this time anyway and that we should come back at check in time. At least he kept our backpacks. When we came back later, the bags were already in the room and he apologized to us for being rude in the morning. Other than that it is ok. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is served from 8h30 to 10 am which is a little late for me. The dining room is very small and meals are on the table at 8h30 and they are plastic wrapped. Nothing to be impressed of. We changed hotel in the morning after having breakfast.

Pros and Cons
Mixed feelings: Pros: Great location, Clean, Authentic Turkish decor, comfortable beds, good bathroom facilities, Tasty breakfast( Not fresh), Great value. Cons: "Deluxe room" is small, one wall is actually a window with curtain to cover which faces the dining room; potentially very intrusive! Arrived after a 13 hour journey wishing to have a snooze, however struggled initially due to owners ( a couple) having a row, despite them knowing we were on the other side of the window. All in all a decent price, clean, comfortable. Would suit most, however if looking for luxury, relaxation and to be waited on id look elsewhere. The location however could not be better.

We stayed here as a couple for four nights in mid August. Thank goodness the air con was working really well! Comfy bed, beautiful decoration using Turkish crafts, tasty breakfast and friendly staff. The rooms were small but excellent value amid the costly area of Sultanahmet (the old city). No problems with shower or toilet (I feel the need to point out that in most Mediterranean countries you can't put toilet paper down the toilet due to ancient plumbing- so no need to blame Chora!) There were guidebooks to browse and a wonderful view of the water from the breakfast room. Would definitely come back!

A Romantic Corner in the Middle of Old Istanbul
The stay was a dream... for a couple who wanted a warmy place for thier get away, we could not think of something better, especially with its budget price... You feel in a family house, clean, quite as there is no noisy places near to it, cauzy, fantastic sea view at breakfast and in some rooms as well... very helpful owner... in the center of the old city with every thing arround is steps away... I decided with my wife to book it the next time we go to Istanbul (in winter this time as we enjoyed the trip this summer)...

Quirky, clean hotel, great location
Very helpful staff, if you ask him he will advise you on the best value and most authentic restaurants in the area and how to reach local attractions by public transport or on foot. Hotel decor is quirky and rooms are clean. We felt very safe here, if I was travelling alone I would happily stay here. The breakfast was very good. We booked airport transfer through the hotel, which was easy, reasonably priced and on time. The location is great, near to the Blue Mosque, to the sea and to the tramway.

Very Basic Accommodation
The ONLY thing Chora Guesthouse has going for it is its terrific location - a short, easy walk from the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Apart from that, there isn't much left to recommend. We stayed on the third floor and had to drag our heavy luggage up 3 flights of narrow, steep stairs (no elevator). The proprietor, in fairness, helped us to carry it up but carrying it back down at the end of our stay was just as difficult and when you're in a hurry to catch the airport shuttle, you can't wait around for assistance. The room itself was reasonably clean and had a good bed, however it lacked in some of the basics - no chair (nowhere to sit other than on the bed), no telephone, no television (not that you'd spend any time in the room watching it, but it's nice to catch up on the day's news before retiring). The shower was very temperamental and we had to compromise between decent water pressure and temperature. As a result, we wound up taking tepid showers. The room has a good air conditioner - a must when staying in Istanbul. The worst part of the whole experience was that we were told not to put toilet paper in the toilet because the system couldn't handle it (think about that one for a moment!). Needless to say, we tended to use the facilities at restaurants as much as possible. The room was inexpensive but, in the end, you get what you pay for.

The guesthouse is excellently located. It is in a clean street away from the main thoroughfares, so is quiet at night. It is ridiculously close to Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace, five minutes walk and you are there. Very good location, nice view over the Sea of Marmara when you have breakfast Breakfast is a bit bare-bones; cold-cuts, a boiled egg, some bread etc. It's perfectly adequate for what you pay, though; this isn't the Novotel. Rooms are very clean and comfortable; staff clean them every day and each room has its own bathroom which is also cleaned every day. Very nice. It has a homely feel which is nice.

Chora Guesthouse is within a few minutes walk to most must-see sights so it's very convenient. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful, and the sea view is a bonus. However, the room is very small. My husband and I had a double room and had to step over luggages because there is no space!! The hotel is also very hard to find, we asked 5 or 6 different locals and none of them know that street and the hotel. The owner seems nice when we checked in, but was not very friendly when we asked if we could leave our luggages for the afternoon after we checked out in the morning.

A unique place with great views!
This guesthouse is great! I highly recommend the Chora Guesthouse! The staff was wonderful, very friendly, polite and sincere, like the Turkish people in general. The location is awesome, with in walking distance of most everything (if you are not in Istanbul only for business), Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and good connections to public transportation. We drove into Istanbul, and were ecstatic to not have to drive for four days. The view over the Bosporus Strait is amazing. We enjoyed looking out over it every morning as we ate the breakfast that was included. The rooms are a little small, but it is comparable in size with any other accommodations in the center. And, it was plenty comfortable for 3 adults.

The flowery descriptions of this tiny little place don't do it justice: there is no selection of cereals at breakfast; each room having a private bathroom does not mean that they are "en-suite"-my miniscule room's (012) BR was across the corridor and then there is the omni-present smell of cat's pee...OK, it is inexpensive...but...that isn't enough...

Das Frühstück ist sehr unpünktlich abhängig von der Müdigkeit des Wirtes. 2 mal verpasst. Nur 3 von 5 Zimmer sind einigermaßen verwendbar. Ein zimmer ist eindeutig zu klein, ein andetes hat ein Fenster zum Aufenthaltsraum und kann zu laut sein.

Comfortable bed, 2 minutes from main tourist attractions, nice view from the room, nice breakfast. Plus they kept our luggage for the day. Not much privacy in the room, window facing dinning room, attention wasn't the best but ok for Turkey. Worst thing, you have to put toilet paper on a bin and ours was full when we arrived. Troubling thing: they kept our passport number, not sure if that's normal You get what you pay for

Good room and very good location
Chora Guesthouse is located 1 km or less from hagia sophia. The rooms are simple, nice and clean. The breakfast room has an amazing view of the bosporus. The owner of the house speaks good english and is very helpful with questions or problems. The wifi works very well and would recommend the guest house to everyone who wants simple accomodation in a very good location. When I return to istanbul I will come back the Chora Guesthouse.

wunderschönes, kleines Guesthouse im Zentrum
Das Guesthaus liegt sehr zentral. Hafen, Metro und Restaurants sind in der Nähe. Es ist ein kleines Hotel, das mit sehr viel Liebe, wunderschön eingerichtet wurde. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Es ist sehr sauber und das Personal leert mehrmals am Tag den Müll und schaut nach dem Rechten. Das Frühstückbüffet gibt es in einem schönen, hellen Raum mit wunderschöner Sicht auf das Meer. Ich war von diesem Hotel begeistert!

3月に1人でシングル2泊しました。シングルルームは1200×2300程度の広さで無窓です。写真にある窓は廊下と繋がります。シャワー・トイレ付きとありますが、廊下を挟んだ向かい側になります。管理者は誠実な人柄で安心できます。但しシャワー中に停電するアクシデントがあり、泡もそこそこに寒く暗い中タオルを巻いて報告しに行きました。すると謝罪は無く、給湯器の使い方を再度説明され、注意されたような気持ちでした。残念です。普段から安宿慣れされている方向きです。立地は食堂街の1本裏で、夜はちょっと暗いです。

sehr einfache Unterkunft - zentrale Lage
Leider war es bei unserem Aufenthalt sehr kalt. Das Chora Guest House ist schlecht isoliert, es gibt zwar eine Klimaanlage, aber bis das Zimmer warm war hat es ziemlich lange gedauert. Wir vermuten, dass es im Sommer entsprechend heiss im Zimmer ist. Überraschend ist die die schöne Aussicht vom Frühstücksraum, schade, dass er nur zum Frühstück zur Verfügung steht. Das Frühstück war klein aber fein, es gab Süßes wie Honig und Marmelade, aber auch Wurst, 2 Sorten Käse, Oliven, einen Scheibe Tomate, eine Stück Gurke, das frische Weißbrot war sehr gut. Leider war immer zuwenig Tee vorrätig und es sollte auch (Trink)Wasser zum Frühstück geben. Trotz guter Wegbeschreibung per email durch den Besitzer/Hotelbetreiber, war das Hotel schwer zu finden (in einer Nebengasse, kein Hinweisschild!) Vom Hotel sind die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten gut zu Fuss erreichbar: Topkapi-Palast, Hagia Sofia, Blaue Moschee, großer und Ägyptischer Basar, Fährhafen bzw. erreicht man auch schnell in ca. 7 - 8 Min. die Straßenbahnhaltestelle. In der Gegend gibt es eine Menge Restaurants, Büffets (für den kleinen Hunger) und Cafés. Wichtiger Hinweis: wir waren 2 Frauen und haben uns in Istanbul nie unsicher gefühlt. Weder wurden wir belästigt, noch wurde gestohlen oder sonst was. Es gab auf den Märkten großes Gedränge , trotzdem kam kein ungutes Gefühl auf. Alle waren sehr freundlich (und geschäftstüchtig - aber das gehört ja auch dazu). Wir haben Istanbul sehr genossen!

location is excellent and the host is very helpful. it was my second time to live there, the bathroom and bedroom are clean and I sew the host clean the room everyday. i like the kitchen because it's a wonderful place to see the sea.i took a lot of pictures there ! 非常好的位置，老板很热情，给我提供了很多信息！房间很干净，也很有当地风格。吃饭在三层，那里景色很好，能看到马尔马拉海，天好时景色很美，夜景也很赞。

ひっそりとして落ち着いたゲストハウス
スルタンアハメッド駅から徒歩15分ぐらい、海の方に下って下ってレストランや安宿街の一番裏のあたりにあるこじんまりとしたゲストハウス。一度外に出ると荷物を置きにちょっと宿に戻るとかはし難い立地ではあるが、安くシングルに泊まれるので選びました。レストラン街やお土産、コンビニもあるので夜少し遅くなっても問題なし。シングルの部屋はとてもとても狭く、専用バスルームは廊下を挟んだ向かい側。シングルもダブルも手作り感あふれる内装。ベッドや 水回りは清潔にたもたれていて、朝ごはんも一通りきれいに盛られていた。欲を言えば、一つあたたかいものがほしかった。最上階から海が見えた。オーナーらしき男性スタッフは細やかで、出しゃばることはなくとも必要な手助けはしてくれるので、個人的にはいごごちよく過ごせて延泊しました。帰りは坂を登るので、スーツケースが重くなる予定の人は空港までの乗り合いバンを依頼するといい。シングルに泊まるならドミの方がいいのかもしれないが、ダブルの部屋は田舎のかわいい民宿みたいで女性におすすめです。

ゲストを大切にするホテル
これまでイスタンブールに３回３日づつ滞在しましたが、毎日完璧にシャワートイレ部屋がすみずみまでホコリひとつなく一流ホテルのように清掃されていました他のホテルでは体験できないここちよい滞在ができました、タオルも毎日あたらしいのが入れ替えておかれていました、オーナー夫妻で清掃するとのこと　ゲストを大切にする気持ちが強くつたわりました、場所はブルーモスクに近く大変便利　３階にあるテラスからは５０隻の漁船と行きかうタンカーや貨物船フェリーをコーヒーを飲みながら眺めていました。

La habitación es muy pequeña, el baño es enano, con el calentador dentro de la ducha. Estuvimos una semana y el desayuno fue el mismo todos los días. Lo peor de todo es como huele la escalera para subir a la habitación, horrible. El dueño tiene una tienda en los bajos que va muy bien. La localización es ideal, muy cerca de la plaza de Sultanahmet.

Смеситель в душе работает плохо - вода либо слишком холодная, либо слишком горячая. В остальном всё хорошо - завтрак утоляет город, Босфор виден хорошо, розеток хватает даже в самом маленьком номере, никаких муэдзинов утром слышно не было. Если заранее свериться с картой, найти отель достаточно просто. Выехать действительно лучше строго до 10 - если задержаться хотя бы на несколько минут, то можно потерять до часа в поисках хозяина.

自分の部屋のような居心地
真新しい建物や豪華な装飾を望む人には向いていませんが、３泊して思ったことは、自分の部屋のように馴染んでくる居心地の良さです。部屋は決して新しくはありませんし、設備も完璧ではありません。しかし、掃除も洗濯も行き届いており、清潔感があります。部屋にもよるかもしれません。私はダブルの部屋にしました。一番気にいったのは、朝日を浴びたマルマラ海を眼下に見ながら、朝食がとれることです。同宿の人たちと、朝、顔を合わせて話をすることができます。ただし、探すのが大変でした。道を尋ねたのですが、その人が２本目を曲がるべきを１本目と間違えて返事したからですが、宿のご主人が途中まで迎えに来てくれました。宿の方も日本人のようにお愛想笑いはしませんが、とても気を遣ってくれていました。ブルーモスクやトプカプ宮殿にも近くて便利ですが、朝夕は丘を下って海のほうにも散歩されるといいと思います。
