“Correcting an error”
I wrote the preceding review. I made a mistake in the rating scales and got it backwards, thus rating low when I meant to mark. I am redoing it, but cannot undo the previous review. As a result, my possible scores now will only average out the mistaken poor scores. Good hotel. Beds are a little hard but other than that it was great.
“Bien placé à proximité des hauts lieux touristiques d'Istanbul.”
Tout est très bien, peut-être un bémol pour la voie ferrée qui jouxte l'hôtel. Il y a peu de trains, mais ils sont tout proches...
“Lovely hotel, nice neighbourhood.”
Hotel Antis is a relatively new hotel in a very nice neighbourhood, close to most main sites. The hotel itself is very clean, with friendly staff and average-sized rooms with nice bathrooms and very good shower units with lots of hot water and good water pressure. Only downside is proximity to the railway lines - trains run from 6am til midnight every day, and the prayer call in the morning from the nearby mosque, but you'll hear that no matter where you stay in Istanbul, as there are mosques with loudspeakers on their minarets everywhere.!! Breakfast was average, but good enough for the price of the hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel to any traveller to Istanbul.
“I wouldn't stay anywhere else ın ıstanbul!!”
the staff at the hotel made us feel at home. they were all warm and welcomıng and extremely knowledgeable and helpful when ıt came to advısıng re tourısty stuff. In partıcular we wıll fondly remember the Gavın Henson lookalıke ın receptıon - Ercan!! He had bags of charısma and really added somethıng specıal to our holıday.
“Turkish Delight”
Small friendly hotel in a superb location for all the major sights of sultanamet. Excellent helpful staff, Very good room service and cleaning. Excellent value for money. Would highly recomend it and would go back. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay.
“Very very nice”
An excellent location close to many of the must see places. Good restaurants just around the corner. Breakfast buffet was extensive, varied, plentiful and tasty. Located in the Sultanahmet (old town) area, the narrow cobble streets, unique shops, varied restaurants, sounds in the air of calls to prayer 5 times a day, the now and again rumble of a passing train or tram all blend together in a cultural mosaic that is Istanbul. The hotel staff, in particular Okan,Ercan and Gokhan, were extremely helpful with directions, answers to our touristy questions, transfer to the airport, etc.. We had great shopping at the Forum Istanbul shopping mall about 20 minutes from the hotel. Taxi very reasonable. Cruise up the Bosphorus was great. The Grand Bazaar is unbelievable. The mosques are incredible. The Topkapi palace and others are heritage landmarks. Istanbul is a modern vibrant city with past cloaked in intrigue. Two things are a must in Istanbul. 1 - BUY A RUG 2 - BUY A HAT
“Great Hotel Great Location”
We had a wonderful 5 night stay at the Antis Hotel in mid June celebrating our wedding anniversary and found all the staff to be polite and helpful , with a good sense of humour. The hotel is situated five minutes walk away from all the major attractions and restaurants. The room we had (302) was at the front of the hotel , the trains could be heard but they were not a problem at all.The room was small but sufficient and with a great shower. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate serving cereal, fresh bread, cold meats, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, yoghurts ,jams and a couple of turkish treats, plus tea, coffee and orange juice and yes you could take your breakfast onto the rooftop terrace with its beautiful view of the Blue Mosque and Marmara Sea, We also had a very enjoyable bbq on the terrace one evening. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing stay in the heart of Old Istanbul. The hotel being very clean with great staff. We had exceptional service from Senol and Tiyeniar and if you like a banter , as we do, you will love Ercan the receptionist.
“So good we extended our stay.”
This was our first experience of Istanbul and was a delight. The staff in the Antis are extremely welcoming and helpful. They are keen to show the best of their city to their guests. There is a small terrace restaurant which serves meals in the evening. The menu is not huge but the food is good and gives a good flavour of local food. The rooms are well appointed and beautifully clean and welcoming. The surrounding area has a wealth of little shops, cafes, restaurants and all you could want of an evening. Breakfast each morning had a good variety of food and the staff again were there to help in any way they could. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we certainly intend to return to it soon.
“Photos Can Be Deceiving”
The hotel is attractive and clean and excellently positioned for all the best sites, restaurants and transport. The showers and bathrooms are very good. However, the hotel sits very cosily next to the railway line which can't be seen in the photos, and can be noisy if your room is on that side of the hotel and you like the windows open. However, the passing trains are not the very noisy whoosh that you get in the UK with the 125s, they are much gentler than that and you hardly notice the noise as the trains are not that frequent, plus after walking round all day you are so knackered you don't hear them when you have crashed out! The view from the windows is rather 'rustic' but more like real Istanbul. Our window had a view of Bosphorus. Beware, single rooms (contain twin beds) and are the same as double rooms/twin rooms, only the Standard Doubles are more expensive. The hotel did a very good value basic evening meal and a nice spot of red to go with it!
“New and Clean”
The hotel is about a year old so it is in good condition. Probably among the better ones in the Sultanahmet neighbourhood. Services are quite basic but at least it is not like some of the very small and tight ones in the neighbourhood. The location is close to the attractions but it is sited next to the railway track and the train passes by quite frequently. But overall, the rates are good for what you get.
