From the moment we checked in, it was pretty chaotic, the girl was nice but the guy gave us attitude. The room had a nice view from the shared balcony, but the room itself was terrible. I don't usually leave reviews, and me and my partner are pretty chill people but we are so frustrated. As soon as you walk into the room the humidity is overwhelming (we stayed in another cheap hotel where this wasn't a problem) to the point where all our clothes felt constantly wet and started to smell funky. The towels they provide had a bad smell as well. The shower had literal full grown mushrooms growing in it, one of them, nearly ten centimeters long eventually fell off and onto the dark shower floor. The water barely comes out and had a trickle of hot water only once I think. The King size bed consist of two flimsy, uncomfortable pillows and the absolute worst part is we got BED BUGS. Now we have spend the day sanitizing all of our belongings. One of the worst rooms I ever stayed in, completely unacceptable. Such a prime location and so much potential I don't know how one can blow it so hard.

The rooms and the lobby are not in the same building, but are across the street from each other. The room was spacious and clean, but the main thing that I loved was the lobby and dining area. Both have dirt floors (really more like sand due to the proximity of the beach) and are very relaxing and beautiful. Some of the best coffee I've ever had was served in the morning, with fresh fruit juices and delicious breakfast plates. The entire place feels welcoming with huge dream catchers. The owner's son was helpful and friendly.

We had a couple issues (check in process, broken toilets, renovation in room next door) but the manager Paul and owner were great to fix everything quickly). Location was great, chill and quiet.

Holbox mosquitoes
Mosquitoes were everywhere. The mosquito netting had holes and not adequate Mosquitoes were coming in and under the doors The hotel did not have any mosquito repellent so take a lot of repellent. We found far superior hotels in the area As there are many ponds with water on the roads etc. the mosquitoes are thriving. We were told by hotel staff, that due to increased construction for accommodation that the ground is saturated for the septic fields. And because of this, there are obvious sewage smells in some of these low ground pools on the roads as the taxis drive through them 3 times at the hotel there were mistakes on my billing. I strongly recommend getting a receipt for any payments including breakfast or any meals or any billing from the hotel. Also take note, that most stores downtown do not have any prices on goods and trying to charge more at the cashier was a common occurrence

Nice staff. Very quiet hotel - although there is a bar that plays music the whole day. Some buildings are very close to the beach. The beach in that area is empty. The walk on the beach at night is just wonderful. It is about 15 minutes walk to downtown. The walk is super nice (unless the mosquitoes decides to join you). At night you can walk on the beach and see the stars. I hope they had a kitchen because restaurants are far away. It may be because they want to make money from breakfasts, but perhaps they can at least open it later in the day. ... also, thanks for the free coffee! :) Last - you should note that this is an island that is not very well developed. Don't expect the hotels to provide you more than what they can. This is why you may have some problems during your stay with the electricity, AC, etc ... but this is not a major problem. I am sure the other hotels have similar problems.

Amazing place
Couldn't ask for a better location, right on the beach with a beach club at the bottom of the stairs. Front desk was excellent, helping us with everything and making recommendations. Couldn't have asked for anything more. The rooms are a little bit empty. If this is a serious problem then Holbox probably isn't for you, but I think they could have used a bit more furniture. At least some more hooks for hanging wet clothes. But the AC was blowing cold and the shower was hot, nothing to complain about.

Super friendly owners and staff. Atmosphere is simplistically beautiful. Sure there may be no air conditioning in some rooms, and limited WIFI, but all of Isla Holbox is this way. It’s a far cry from the all-inclusives in Cancun, Playa, and Tulum. But, avoiding those places, is precisely why you come to Holbox. So pleasant, and environmentally conscious here.

The first time we stayed here was great, over a year ago. The second time around not as much. They now have a deposit for everything, towels included. The first time we went it was just for the key to the room, which I totally get. The air conditioner didn’t work this time either, it was basically just a fan that dropped lots of water inside the room and there was a large moldy area above the AC :(. The bathroom had a smell, maybe the drain trap was causing it? When trying to pay the room fees we were told it had to be cash or PayPal, but then we were told maybe they could charge it with their terminal. I understand the instability of the internet there, but I’d rather be given the terminal option first and then if it didn’t work due to internet we could explore other options. I hadn’t come prepared to pay cash for my hotel and when I tried to login to PayPal to attempt that method I was locked out for logging in from an unfamiliar location.

We stayed in room 32 which was lovely - on the ground floor of a separate building to the main building that has the reception, roof terrace etc. I am glad we were out here - it was lovely and quiet and our little decking area was perfect. Shower was dreadful to start with, but we managed to get it working properly after a couple of nights by physically massaging the water nozzles so they would release something approaching a normal amount of water. This made it rather obvious that no-one had tested nor cleaned the shower head for some time! Location wise it’s a ten minute cycle or golf cart journey into town, which we loved (nice and quiet and near the sea!). On the whole this was a very lovely stay with some really nice staff. Thank you for having us.

Rooms were very dark (only 1 very small window) and noisy, could hear clearly people moving around upstairs. We did ask to move rooms but couldn't. Breakfast is extra, and is the only real option as the hotel is far from town. I would not recommend staying here.

I loved the hammock on the balcony. The bed was one of the old school spring mattresses. The view from the roof is pretty (but do not stay out after sunset without bug spray!) The breakfast was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property is kinda “far” from the center but the front desk can order you a taxi/golf cart. The taxi trip costs 50 pesos & better than trying to bike after a rain. There’s bikes but they rent them instead of using them with a deposit. WiFi was okay in the room but a bit better at reception. Would stay again.

Nice hotel, close to the beach. Big space. Good AC. A little far from the town center but worth it if you want to relax with pretty much your own private beach. They have bicycles that you can rent. Town centre is ~ 15 min by bike. Only downside is bicycling after sunset since the mosquitoes will get you if you dont use bug repellent. Over all a great experience.

Very helpful staff! right on the beach, away from the main town.. the staff Helped us store our luggage at another of the company’s locations closer to the ferry when we checked out so we didn’t need to return. One thing I could recommend for the rooms is more shelving/storage and a bar fridge

The listing for this property is not accurate. This is a two part property. The main property has rooms and so does another building that views the ocean. We have visited Holbox Island on three other occasions and have never had this level of water issues.

Nice Hotel close to nice beach area.
The hotel staff is friendly and very helpful. The hotel is located super close to a nice, clean beach area but far from restaurants and shops. There are a few things I would suggest to make guest feel more comfortable with their stay: Safe boxes are necessary to store important items and travel documents. The doors need to have sturdy door locks.

Beautiful and Affordable with Great Staff
It was near a great beach and good beach club. The room was clean and in good condition. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and in view of a nice garden. I would definitely recommend here especially for the price. I would also suggest taking a taxi with your bags but otherwise the walk to town is not so bad.

I hope no one else discovers this island!
Firstly, overall, let me say that everything was absolutely ah-MAZing about the island, the hotel and the service! The coffee was good and strong, the room was breezy and close to the beach, there was convenient, affordable bike rental on site, there was hot water and the grounds were breathtaking. You will possibly not find a more gorgeous beach on the planet! If I HAD to be critical, I would say that the bed was pretty uncomfortable. We did ask for two extra pillows after the first night, which helped some, but the mattress itself was uncomfortable---you could feel the springs digging into you as you slept. I have always slept on futons, love a hard mattress and don't get me wrong, we did sleep, but it was like when you go camping: you are so exhausted from the days activities that you fall into bed, but the ground is, ultimately, hard and you kind of toss and turn all night. We joked that simple foam mattress cover would go a LONG LONG way for Casa Blat Ha.

Pleasant stay overall !
Nice accomodation, quite clean and comfortable, staff was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately they have built a beach club right in front of the suites which is not shown on the web site photos, it is both a curse and a blessing, a bit loud with the music at times but convenient and close by if you wanted to have some drinks, food and rent a chair for the day, mixed feelings about that one ! The breakfast could of been varied a bit since it got a bit repetitious being there for 9 days. A bit of a walk to town but we quite enjoyed that, a pleasant stay overall.

Misquetoes EVERYWHERE! Do NOT stay here NO wifi
It took 15 minutes to kill misquotes inside room. Blood spats from earlier visitors were present. Then I had to hide inside the room! NO wi fi in rooms and pitiful excuse in common area with NO AC and get fed to misquotes. The place is FAR away from anything. Taxies would not even come to pick me up to leave EARLY mind you. I had to bum a ride as an hour walk to town carrying luggage was NOT doable. The water in the street is often 18 inches deep and 50 ft long. No TV anywhere at this location. Other places handled misquote issue as I leftthe room long enough to find this out. This place did nothing, Be CAREFUL IF you book as some rooms are NOT even close to the beach. The refund policy is get and KEEP your money!

Nice little hotel.
We stayed there for one night, we loved it! Little bit secluded, but if you would like to unplug out of the routine, this is the perfect spot. There is bikes for rent at the hotel. The room was very basic, just the necesaty items were on the room, nothing fancy, but comfy. Continental breakfast was offered which it was really good! Homemade jams, coffee, bread, juice and a basic breakfast menu was also available for an extra charge. People was very nice & welcoming. The beach is amazing! We will come back!

Fantastic Vacation
If you're ever in Holbox check out Casa Blatha...a little out of the way, quiet hotel, simple, with warm hospitality, and a beach all to yourself....heaven!

This hotel is great! it is small, the staff is super warm and friendly and beyond helpful, everything is very clean and the rooms are super cute and well designed. It is located about a 10 minute walk outside of the town, so not super convenient, but also not very far. And since it is not right in the busy area of town it is super quiet very safe. And it is only a 10 minute walk from the beautiful Punta Cocos beach! Compared to other hotels in Holbox, this hotel is a great value and we would definitely stay here again.
