The staff are lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant wasn’t open last night but there are lovely pubs in local area. Would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is ideally situated for trips into Ipswich. Its a shame though the hotel is looking a bit tired. Its in need of a good revamp to bring it back to it's former glory. I would still recommend anybody to stay the staff were very helpful and respective.

We had a great stay at the BW Ipswich. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms clean and airy. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Car park conveniently in front of reception. PodPoint EV charger on site. Only a few other guests staying which might be because it's being renovated but we suffered no inconvenience from that at all. Some of the common areas are looking a bit tired and will welcome the forthcoming renovation but our room was freshly decorated and above average size with a large comfortable bed and good sized bathroom. Restaurant and gym are not yet re-opened but SkyTV in the bar area was a bonus. A really good VFM weekend stay.

What kind of a hotel provides biscuits in the room but not basic bathroom consumables. Several lights in the room blown making it dark and dingy, especially the bathroom which gets no natural light. The double windows which are large enough for half a dozen people to walk through (they really are massive), have no locks on them, as in, the locks have been removed. Having stayed there for work several months ago I mentioned this issue to them (it seems none of the windows lock) and still, several months on, nothing has been done about it. Mediocre customer service, zero social distancing (there was a disco downstairs the night I stayed) with kids and drunk people running around, none of the staff were wearing masks or again practising social distancing. A bit dirty, a bit run down (buckets were out in the lobby/reception when I arrived because the roof was leaking and was when I stayed there previously), crappy staff. I wouldn't stay again.

Dear Sam Thank you for leaving a review. As per Government guidelines at the time of your stay masks and social distancing are not a legal requirement, with the law now being reintroduced all staff are wearing masks or lanyards if they are exempt and social distancing is in place. These "crappy staff" as you refer to them are my team whom I am very proud of these staff turn up day after day to make sure people can stay, get food and drink and enjoy their social gatherings at the expense of being able to do any of these with their own families.. We provide toiletries in all rooms and I apologise if they were missed but my "Crappy" housekeeping staff are cleaning at least 15 rooms a day and sometimes things get forgotten but I will speak to them. With regards to the windows no one has authorised the removal of locks but I will look into this. I wish you a very Merry Christmas Kind regards Kate Sewell General Manager

Avoid at all costs !
We booked to stay at this hotel for my father in laws funeral , being 6 months pregnant and with my fiancé and two young children this ‘family room’ looked the ideal location . How wrong we were ! The hotel was old and shabby and nothing like advertised on the website . The room was filthy , floor boards creaked and felt spongy . The shower was not fit for purpose a trickle of water out of a shower head is not acceptable ! Tiles were covered in dust the sink backed up every time it was used and the toilet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months . Before we arrived at the hotel I rang ahead to enquire about an iron and was assured we would have one in our room . There wasn’t one . It took three more times in asking for an iron to be bought to our room after advising the receptionist we would be late for the funeral if it was much longer . The receptionist bought it up herself in the end. One of my children and I were bitten in the night too . The cleanliness overall was unsatisfactory when looking out of our window smashed plant pots , debris and litter was all over the flat roof making our view unsightly ! Overall what was already an emotional time was made 100 times worse staying at this hotel .

All round good value
Value for money. Paid £52 for a saturday night. Its an old building but when your are paying this low fee and getting a big bar area..spa and gym area. Its all round pretty decent to be fair. Breakfast is good as well

We were disturbed by another party trying to enter our room around 9pm because the hotel had assigned the room to two different bookings. Very annoying and not what you expect. Luckily we had put the chain on the door!

Not worth the 4 star
The staff were the best thing about the stay - courteous, polite and smiling. Unfortunately, the rest was downhill. The room was old, broken bedside drawers with cardboard attached to cover, chairs soiled and unclean, bath with mouldy / limescale deposits, shower at best was trickle. Not a pleasant experience I am afraid

Unfortunately the excutive room we stayed in had an inadequate mattress. That was simply not up to the quality expected for the room. We spoke to reception they showed us great respect and gave us a genrous saving on the room. It made the uncomfortable stay less of a dissapointment.

Perfect location for nearby wedding venue
We stayed for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) in one of the Lodge rooms. Nice comfy bed and plenty of space. Everything we needed for our stay was provided. We enjoyed a good cooked buffet breakfast. The hotel was easy to find just off the A12 with plenty of parking on site. We would definitely use this hotel if staying in the area again.

Poor dated hotel
Very dated hotel room, repairs to bathroom walls not painted over, tiles where not finished correctly. Shower head broken and loose. And it was a ten minuet wait for the water to get hit. Mix up with my bill for food that we had, I paid for the the food at the bar after the meal only to find out when checking out that it had also been added to room. After showing them the payment on our banking app there was no apologies given or indicated. On a positive note the meal that we had was realy nice fresh and hot and the deserts where also v nice.

Never Again
Room was dirty, bed was hard, Shower full of black mold on the sealant. Food was poor. Bar Area was Ok and staff welcoming. I will definitely give it a miss if i am min Ipswich again

No soap for washing hands after going to toilet due to supply failure. Lots of spiders in both the bedroom and on suite complete with cobwebs especially behind the main door into room. The window was jammed partially open so we could neither open it fully or close it to stop the spiders frequenting our room. We asked for a 6.30am alarm call but never received it probably because the telephone time was 5 hours late so was displaying 5.30pm when it was 10.30pm. I went to use the ironing board and every time I touched it, it would collapse flat on the floor - good way to chop your toes off! All in all not recommended with the room but the staff and breakfast were excellent except the eggs which looked really dried up and uninviting.

I could not even stay in the hotel because it was so grubby and smelly. I also had to pay an additional £120 to find an average hotel at 7pm. It was q 5 hours away, a total waste of money and my time.

What i like: - The spa, i had a hot stone massage and floatation, i can definitely recommend both. The staff running the spa are really helpful and friendly. - The man working the bar at the hotel was really friendly and welcoming What i didn't like: - The cleanliness of the changing room at the spa... lots of dirt on the floor, bearing in mind it was a very quiet period when i used it as there was a wedding on so most guests were at the wedding. - Some of the hotel staff were not easily approachable and gave the impression i was bothering them, i found myself apologising a lot for asking basic questions like "which way to the restaurant " or "where is the spa". - The rooms were very dated, i knew this before arriving from the pictures, so that wasn't a surprise... what i didn't expected was warped and uneven floors in my room that creaked so loudly i wondered what it must sound like for anyone below me... then i got my answer the second night when someone was in the room above me... the creaking was so loud abd coukd hear footsteps like they were stomping around. - The room amenities, you get a free shower gel and shampoo, which is nice, but the thing you need more than that, soap to wash your hands after using the toilet... none... had to use the shower gel and shampoo (they were really small). I would recommend the spa if you live close enough to go for the day, but not the hotel if you need to stay the night
