“The feel of a nice, old fashion, family run hotel. Would definitely go back.”
I was a little scared walking up to the hotel with construction beside the hotel. It might have been even part of the same building but it was a non issue. The lobby was nice but they could organize there office with more modern looking equipment that could have made the check in quicker. Walking up the stairs to the room was a pleasant surprise with nice pictures, decorations & flowers. Upon entering the room, everything was also in order and nicely decorated. There was a problem with the electrical in the room they were going to give me but realized it when I showed up. They just gave me a different room so no big deal. They sprinted to turn on the air conditioner.
“probably won't go back”
The main problem I had with the hotel was the parking. Their website stated valet parking but that did not exist. Also they advertised a gym, which they had but it only had two pieces of equipment and it was located in a room the size of a closet. The room was comfortable with stove, microwave and full size refrigerator.
“Always interesting.”
You never know when you book on the internet do you. Staying in downtown Houston, I booked the Athens last minute. When I walked in I knew what I had done. Very humid inside with a distinct middle eastern aroma. Too late to turn back and it is a good location. Air conditioner made an unbelievable racket when it kicked on, bet I woke up every time. Went all next day feeling like I had not slept. The best though, was when I went down to get coffee at the continental breakfast of instant oatmeal and day old sugar donuts. I was told the coffee cups were by the machine, I looked and asked again. They were dixie cups, yes the wax inside melted and floated to the top. Manager, always on the phone, couldn't understand what was wrong. Great hotel, its just in the wrong country.
“Ok for the price”
The Hotel was not bad for the price. The rooms were clean but the hallways were not. Breakfast was definitely poor. I would not recommend to out of state or international travelers
“Would not return”
The Hotel is convenient located for conference center, but service is poor, reception and frontdoor close at 10 pm, cleaning and maintainance is poor.
