Nice hotel in beautiful location

Posted 7-Sep-2014
Pros: See above for what we liked
Cons: The breakfast and the pool area
Location: The Keweenau peninsula if absolutely beautiful. A must see. Quincy mine at the top of the hill in Hancock was very interesting.
We had a pleasant 2 night stay. Positives are it was quiet (surprising since our room faced the Houghton-Hancock bridge), clean, front desk was pleasant and helpful, price which included breakfast was fair for value, nice deck outside owned by the city but convenient to the hotel on Portage/lake or river. Cons-I should have known to avoid the breakfast burrito after the breakfast sandwich offered the day before led to indigestion, my bad. Lots if items seemed a little stale. Some may like very soft beds with thick pillows and a duvet instead of a blanket, but for us it caused a headache. Overall a decent value offering everything we needed for our stay.

OK hotel for the rating

OK, clean hotel. The hotel restaurant was also just ok but the service was very good. Great little establishment just a few steps away along the boardwalk that will have the Tigers game on. Go there for a beverage instead of the hotel.

Picking up daughter from college

Posted 7-May-2014 on Hotels.com
We really enjoyed this hotel except trying to figure out how to get to it! My daughter is going to college at MI Tech and booked this hotel for the night so I wouldn't have to drive 18 hours in one day. Everything was very nice about the hotel, expect the hot tub was way too hot and the pool was way too cold.. and trying to figure out how to get to the hotel. My gps didn't give very good directions as to how to get there and I had to cross the bridge a couple of times before figuring out there was a side road to go down to get down the hill and get to the hotel.

Family event

Posted 30-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
Our family stayed here while attending a funeral. Yes sad event, but the restaurant at the hotel made for a great place for the whole family to enjoy dinner and catch up and talk about our grandmother who passed. It was a solemn event but the Ramada made it very enjoyable to be with our family.

A nice choice for Tech Parents

Posted 23-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
We found the Ramada to be at least a step above the Travel Lodge or the Super 8 in Houghton. Being across the bridge in Hancock, we were a little concerned it may not be as convenient, but we didn't find it to be a problem at all.

Great place to stay while visiting Michigan Tech

Posted 19-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed there while visiting Michigan Tech. The hotel is a little dated, but very, very clean. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant attached was probably the best in town! We felt very safe. A winter storm came the day we were going to leave - forcing us to stay an extra night. They were very accommodating and willing to work with us. They even gave us extra coffee for the in room coffee maker without us having to ask. The free breakfast was what you would expect - but had a good variety. My kids LOVED the waffle maker and they had fresh fruit.
