Friendly staff, neat tidy rooms

Pros: The staff was more than accomodating, food in the restaurant was good as well as the free breakfast. the room was clean and tidy and quiet. Good value
Cons: The coffee, and a fitness center would be nice.
I was in town on business and while i have been in Houghton many times this was my first stay at the Ramada.

Pros: Beds were comfortable
Cons: Maybe the breakfast could be upgraded a bit, more warm foods (eggs, bacon).
I wasn't expecting much from our hotel stay, just you're typical hotel stuff - clean, friendly staff, comfortable... What we got was that and a little more. Nice to have restaurant and bar in the hotel. Very convenient access to Hancock and Houghton.

Beautiful location

Hotel was located on the lakefront so view was beautiful. General condition a bit oldfashioned but never the less good worth for the money. Breakfast basic but with facility to make own waffles which was nice.

Nice Location

The hotel is right on the water -- we had a wonderful view from our room. In front of the hotel is a lift bridge, and we were lucky to see it in action. There are docks with chairs behind the hotel on which to relax and watch the sun set. Rooms were clean, but not very well soundproofed. We heard flushes, fans, showers, and people in the hall during the night. It was a quick trip to Houghton just across the bridge. It was nice having a refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was adequate, but not impressive. If you decide to try the breakfast burrito, be sure to take a look at the ingredients list on the back first. We would stay again and just hope for a quieter night!

Homecoming weekend at MTU-convenient location

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we stayed here September 19, and 20th 2014. Clean rooms, beautifully situated on a boardwalk, walking distance to local bars, walked across the channel via the bridge,close to MTU and a good price. The only negative would be that the breakfast bar was very limited. I would have liked a bigger selection and more seating. It was comparable to most hotels, but it would have been great if it included more items. The full service restaurant was nice and was the bar in the evening.

Cons: Our check in could be improved due to no room available.
Location: Hard to find, poor lighting on the street leading to the Hotel
I reserved the room for a late check in on 7/16/14 or early morning hours of 9/17/14, for arrival after midnight as our flight arrived at 11:48pm. I specifically pointed out to Myra from Expedia that we needed a late check in. So when we arrived they were sold out and my reservation was for the following night. The receptionist was kind enough to call another hotel and again we called the taxi for a ride to the Magnuson Hotel. It was a huge disappointment at that hour having been three different flight to arrive in Houghton, MI for my brother's funeral. Otherwise it was a very nice hotel. I was informed when we reserve a room through a third party that this sometimes happens.
