“good place”
it's a little bit far to central but it only takes one ferry to go to central,1 bus to buddha, 1 bus to disnet terminal, ebrything is so accesible and the place is so relaxing, the view of the ocean, a quiet place to stay and relax.
“A quiet escape”
After hectic days and nights shopping in the streets of Mong Kok or Stanley, chasing down historic Buddist sites, or partying in SOHO, the Silvermine Beach Hotel was a quiet escape. Even arriving via ferry at midnight, the walk from pier to hotel was quiet and safe. The daily breakfast was suited to western tastes, their bar had live music on Saturday, and the pool in back was incredibly clean. Hotel staff was always helpful. 100 yards away is a shark netted beach with life guard, although you can enjoy the beach and dragon boat races right in front of the hotel.
“The quiet side of Hong Kong.”
This is a great place to get away from the noise and bussle of Hong Kong. We have been here twice and would go again.
“lovely hotel”
The perfect place to escape from the city.
“Fantastic getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city”
True this hotel is a little tired and shabby in places, but everything is kept clean and tidy and everything works as it should. The staff are helpful and friendly. Getting about is no problem, the ferry terminal to HK Island and the bus terminal to most other parts of the island are only a short walk away. The great beauty of this hotel though is it's location, after a day of hustle and bustle in the city or in Kowloon it's perfect to come back to the peace and quiet to unwind. Now that we know about this little gem anytime we head to HK we will be heading for it as our place to stay.
“What a gem!”
We arrived at Silvermine beach Hotel after having stayed in HK city for 2 nights and upon arrival felt a bit sheepish that we had not just stayed in Miu Wo for the entire trip. It is only a short walk from the ferry (which is a cheap half hour trip to HK central) to the Hotel. What a world away from the crazy cramped city this is. So quiet and peaceful (and very cheap). The staff were helpful (the exchange rate offered by the hotel was 8% better than other sellers). The pool is very nice as well. Although the hotel is a little dated, it's clean, comfy and alll the amenities work well, much more spacious than you'll find in the city for a quarter of the price. The only thing that wasn't that awesome was the food, but the cooked food market is a 5 minute stroll away and very cheap anyway. Overall I highly recommend this quaint little gem and if I need accom again around HK I will stay here.
“Stay here for you Hong Kong visit!”
Very nice and quiet. The staff was great...always smiling! An enjoyable 7 minute walk to the ferry and a short journey to downtown Hong Kong and more. The breakfast buffet was perfect.
“excellent value”
For Hong Kong this hotel is probably about your cheapest option, the main reason probably being thats its a 30 min boat ride from central, but dont let this put you off. For me the hotel couln't of been in a better location, away from the hectic life of Hong Kong, you can go home at the end of a long day to the peaceful seaside town of mui wo, which has a fantastic atmosphere & gives you a proper feel for the real Hong Kong. The Hotel is clean & generally in pretty good condition, service was good & the staff were friendly efficient & attentive, the rooms are very large & most seem to have great views, even the cheaper hill view rooms. The bathroom was a little aged but clean & im not fussy.
“Very nice”
The hotel's location is beautiful and accesible to outdoor activities, with the beach and ocean on one side and the hills on the other. The furnishings and style are not new new, but neither are they too old. Everything was very clean. The breakfast buffet is fabulous, and the service is very good and helpful. My only service problem had to do with getting internet set up, and it was a matter of communicating the issue not of willingness on the part of the staff. The price couldn't be beat for anything near this quality. This is a very good hotel for children.
“very beautiful island”
very nice place to visit
