Short taxi ride from the centre of the city. Breakfast was a bit basic, but OK.
Rooms and living area all comfortable. Great views over the city.
Overall good value for money. A good base to travel from.
We recently stayed at the Somerset Chancellor Court with our 2yo and 5yo kids while in Vietnam for a family wedding. We enjoyed our time at the hotel and found the room facilities excellent- really well appointed and comfortable, with the staff very attentive and friendly. One thing we particularly liked was that bottles of drinking water are replenished each day, which saved us having to worry about going out and getting water for ourselves. Not that it was too difficult to do so- the small supermarket on the ground floor of the hotel had everything we needed.
The location was great, right in the middle of District 1 and within easy walking distance of all the major attractions, including the Ben Thanh markets, the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum. Taxis were also always available, and transport around the local area rarely cost more than US$1-2.
The hotel also includes a well-appointed play area for kids and a swimming pool. Possibly the only not-so-child-friendly feature of the hotel was that the pool does not have a play area for kids, and is quite deep at all points. Our 5yo is a good swimmer, but with no point in the pool where she could stand, she struggled a bit to enjoy her swimming time.
Otherwise, no complaints from us- we would happily stay at the Somerset Chancellor Court again and would recommend it highly to anyone travelling to HCMC with kids.

The Saigon domaine was a pleasant stop and rest in our journey. The staff was receptive to our early arrival and upgraded us to a three bedroom apartment with 21/2 bathrooms, a terrace that overlook the pool, and with a view across the river. The ferry service by boat across to downtown was quick and left us at the center of downtown. The location of the hotel is in a predominant Vietnamese area, not touristy with small coffee shops, and local restaurants near by. Everyone was helpful. The staff facilitated our getting manicures and pedicures at the hotel in the convenience of our room. They arranged our deopoff and pick up at the hotel for our various activities.
